Actually, I can't tell you what a big deal it is to have a place like WB open at this particular time. It was under construction for about a year, or it was certainly a long time and it's owned by the Cheeseburger In Paradise people who have many of those restaurants, but it was still good to see. I was hoping to be first with Thirsty Turtle, but we just don't have the foot traffic to support me. In the meantime, please stay safe, smart, salty, sane and somewhat "normal". It will help me with the "Rebirth of Front Street" as I want to really offer some unique items to Maui's tourists. Get over to Waikiki Brewery and try "Pride's Purdy" -- that drink is awesome. It has a nice sweet flavor -- and then suddenly a shot of whiskey runs across your mouth -- and it's like "Wow". Not too much -- not too little. Aloha. Absolutely. I'd go and get a Mai Tai at the bar and watch sunset. I always enjoyed their Bleu Cheese Burger. Good burger but never sat anywhere but the bar,which is very small. Darn. I hope they do open, but there are many rumors they might not open. Their Waikiki Brewing is doing nicely, but soon the locals won't go and we don't have tourists, so it will get tough for them. I just don't get the "sense" that things are going to improve much over the next 2-3-4 months, but I really believe (and hope) that by May, 2021 we will be somewhat over this virus and slowly things will return to some state. Maui won't be the same, and for people like you that might be a good thing. Our island has had a "rebirth" with no tourists and it's been enjoyable to see. Been to Queen St. Waikiki brewery many times while visiting my nephew and staying nearby. 10-minute walk. I miss jumping on a plane out of Japan and heading there. Hope to see you soon. But flying in and out of Japan is still a stinking hassle.

Sometimes, I think our prices are a bit high -- until I go to places on the Mainland USA that have incredible views with hand crafted beers and then realize we're not too bad. We're a top 5 global travel destination that happens to be in the most REMOTE place on the planet. Things cost a bit more, as everything comes in from somewhere else. Only way to get here is by plane. In the meantime, about 130,000 people live here and we tend to do somewhat ok. Thanks for watching, please come to Maui, and hope you stay safe and healthy. Aloha. Yes, it's maybe a dollar or two high, but I've paid the same many places in the USA. From Los Angeles to San Francisco to Seattle. But just like where you live, there are 5 places within a short walk for me here in LahainaTown where I can get a good lunch or dinner for under $8.00. #1BBQ a few steps away is awesome good and cheap. The whole purpose of Thirsty 'Turtle is to offer an "alternative" to the higher-end places to eat. I'm hoping it will be successful when it opens. Best Wishes. @@Sherman1862 Aloha. You will have a wonderful time, as it's very slow and the locals all LOVE it this way. No traffic. Beaches open and no one there during the week. Many things. Their is a 50% capacity at restaurants, so check-out the "Cardboard People" sitting at tables at Cheeseburger. Pretty Funny. Stay safe. Travel Smart. Best AlohaWishes.

Aloha Rick and thanks for watching! Yes, they do and there are some wooden benches along the sea wall. Also, I'll have seating for two or three inside the TT and my whole goal was to have a type of "walking food" or finger food that you can eat as you walk. Waikiki Brew Co is now on my go to list! They likely had to open their doors once the tenant work was done. The Thirsty Turtle is also on my list!!! I'm gonna guess that you're planning a series of videos just about the Thirsty Turtle??
Aloha John and so nice to see you. Yep, you'll love this place. It checks all the boxes. They really care about their customers and it shows. I think they were just anxious to get feedback on their food and beer, and I gave them a LOT. LOL. They've got over a million $$$ invested and the locals have kept the place packed. With fewer tables and really almost too-spaced-out, they can easily be full while they test their menu and their drinks. The manager was really nice and had a lot of questions about the food and drinks. TTurtle, I'll do one or two, but not too much. It won't have its own channel, but I'll do an "Intro Opening" and maybe one other. Really not that much to say. LOL. Best Aloha Blessing for good health and sanity. Why are the stores boarded up?
Aloha and Thank You. There's currently a pandemic racing across the world and the Mainland USA is not doing very well. People are not, at the moment, wanting to travel at least 5 hours to Maui and we also have a 14-day quarantine for anyone coming to Hawaii. Yesterday, there were only 3 Trans-Pacific flights to Maui brining in 48 or so visitors. Normally, we'd have 3,500 a day coming. With so few retailers, and like myself, stores have boarded up and closed up until tourists arrive. It's an unusual situation. Best Aloha Wishes & Blessings and stay safe and smart and heatlhy.
@@MauiTravelVideos Well, strangely enough, I have heard about the pandemic. :). I was really wondering why the stores were boarded? Would there be vandalism if the store doors were simply locked? Aloha. No vandalism. Some may be vacated and they don't want anyone to know. Some just use their "Tsunami Boards" to secure their store. Most are just t-shirt shops so not that much to steal. Some may be for insurance purposes. I'm really not sure. I always have a sign at night that says: "No Cash Left Overnight - Sales Weren't That Good Today!" Stay Healthy.

I really enjoy UR vids. UR governor needs to be replaced. He has pushed back the date to September 1 for the TESTING PROGRAM. This is all political and they want mail in ballots. So hopefully see U next year. All the best.
Aloha and thanks. Appreciate your comments. There's just so much that truly makes Maui (and Hawaii) very different than the rest of the world. Maui only has 37 ICU beds total, and about half are already taken with other health issues. We're still 143 doctors short (try getting an X-ray read). So there are many issues. Remember the virus outbreak at the hospital?? The horrible joke here was the fastest way to get the virus was to go to the hospital. Medically, We are very limited. Also, The GOV did not feel Hawaii could handle the schools opening & the influx of tourists at the same time. There's some credibility to that stance. My DIL is a 3rd grade teacher and she updates me daily and often asks: "How can we do this safely?" Three airlines made Trans-Pacific flights to Maui yesterday. Just 3! We have NO control over the airlines, and right now they are focused on domestic flights -- not coming across the ocean for 5 hours. Southwest CEO said he had no intention of flying to Maui for the next 5-6 months. He has other issues. So what are your solutions? I'm very interested in your thoughts from an "outside" perspective.
