@@MauiTravelVideos I live on Maui, Steve, on east side, for forty years, and family here since 1912. Four days before the fire I closed on a house in Kaanapali, because I wanted to live near Lahaina and west side beaches for once in my life. Things don’t always work out as we plan, do they?
I am always amazed how resilient nature is after a fire. The new growth is great to see. Thank you for sharing.

I support the Maui Humane Society but skipping the island for my bi-annual Hawaii trip this year. Too much confusion on going/not going is the right thing to do. That restaurant you feature at 3:09 is one of my favorite places to eat and have coffee.

Yes, "user" there are a lot of people at the Sheraton. It's a very popular place and a lot of fun. Black Rock is a great snorkel spot also. Lots of people having fun on Maui.
@@MauiTravelVideos yes they are, there swimming in extremely toxic water, breathing toxic air...which passes the blood brain barrier and you cant get it out...with the waste site being put near the water , on top of a cave system with streams in it, on top of a hefty bag...it will only be months before Uluwalu then the entire island chain is destroyed.. we do water testing, blood, skin food , everything. just the arsenic levels at Black Rock are enough to cause cancer after 30 minutes of exposure. that's 400, 000 tons of toxic waste, so bad...even mainland super sites turned it down. not informing our guest is criminal and against any moral fabric a man should have. the leaching of the toxins into the ocean already has shown up in Hana. didn't you watch the council meeting ?

It's such a shame what they have done to Lahaina and the people, now they are going to ruin Olowalu, Lahaina was the only reason I really ever went to Maui, I always stayed at the Pioneer Inn.

There's people back there now that just don't care and never handled food before . its ok. if your on island now, you wont be very soon,. if you've been paying attention. have you ?" turn over ". that's a good one, . Mauis not for us anymore, sadly..and their doing there best to get us off the island, well not their best, that still to come.

Disappointed at your distant observation, but respect your decision. As the Security Officer from 7pm to 7am every day at a major resort on Ka'anapali Beach, I hear virtually nothing negative now from locals about tourism. Maybe a couple of months ago some things were said for the media, but it's way different now after 6 months.

I would not recommend Java Jazz. We found it to be dirty, and the owner is a proud racist. Just ask him about immigrants, or Obama, and he will go off on a racist rant.
