So how many episodes do you all think this build will take? Just for fun and some bragging rites!!! I am kicking it off with a big 110 episodes of PBB goodness. Anyone else want to put place a "bet" on the table.....??
@@dbstelly - ahhhh, thanks! Though I have no skills to bring to the construction table other than grunt worker (which has become more limited now) or errand runner 😹
Thank y’all for being the type of tradesmen that willingly share and teach your knowledge. When I started building it was like pulling teeth from a bobcat trying to get the older guys to teach you things.
Stoked to watch this project! My parents had a summer place in Waynesville for about 50 years. Lots of great memories in the area. Dad is 94 and mom is 90. We watch your channel together when I visit them.
My father who passed April 2021 at 91 years old was an avid bluegrass player capable of playing guitar, mandolin, fiddle and bass but his first love was the 5 string banjo. He had been told years ago by some Tennessee mountain hillbillies that he was the best damn yankee “banjer” player they ever heared and swore that he was lyin’ about being Pennsylvania born and raised. Seeing that young man throw that Gibson Mastertone down on his knee and crank on brought back memories and a tear to my eyes. I would appreciate more of that on this build and Thanks in advance!
Finally, a new one begins! I wish to have your videos longer, 20 minutes feels like nothing. Love to watch your videos. It would be great to have them a bit longer, at least every now and then. High five to every one of you guys 👋
I remember setting a foundation and the diagonal was exact to the millimeter. It's such a good feeling. Pro tip, only use steel measure tapes when setting foundation, plastic tapes stretch.
I live in one of those glass flats and work in the city in London, yet this is the only youtube channel I follow every video from. I have no hope to shoot a single nail in the near future! :)
don't even need a drone.. just mesure the area with a tape and draw it on a piece of paper then overlay the cut model tloris of the house and play with it.
Man I'm just super thankful for your channel and these dudes, thanks for keeping it clean so i can watch with my kids! Super rad build and excited to see it come together!
Former contractor/remodelor/developer and this channel is by far the best builders channel I have see. Real problems and solutions. Great stuff everytime.
Smart move to wait until after the rain to start digging. You're saving the owner between 3 to 5 yards of concrete on the footers. I've seen the damage rain can do and you definitely do. As a ready-mix driver trying to explain to the owner that they weren't shorted on the concrete, well you've been there
This is going be an epic series. Let’s gooo! Probably going be 50+ videos series. Wish they were longer vids. But current length keeps me coming back for more.
I am super excited to see this project! Just when I am slowing down and preparing to retire, you Perkins Bros and crew keep killing it. I shall live vicariously through you and this channel. If ever I find myself in North Carolina, I might look y’all up. ~WilPaul
Wow, guys! This looks epic. Gonna be a hundred part series going by Merel's house previously. So looking forward to it. The finished plans on the Thumbnail looks amazing.
Ahhh snap. Ive been going down the videos watching every single episode of the house builds and just finished part 80 of the farmhouse. Now i get to start a brand new one!
Get a reMarkable tablet for things like this. It's e-ink like a Kindle so it works better in sunlight. It can import jpgs and pdfs and works with layers so you can work non-destructively.
Let Erik talk too!! Nice balance of commentary between the two brothers. Hope PBB are as excited about the build as we are out here in armchair building land.
Great video Jamie, get or hire a geomax robotic total station you can survey the plot beforehand overlay the plot on Cad then load the cad plans for the house straight into it and set it out easy and it's great for checking the foundations as you dig them as well .
Erik, Jamie , wife and I are pumped for this build. It looks like an awesome project and we can't wait to see how it goes. We miss Arlo alot. Can you tell him we said hi and hope he's enjoying retirement? Cheers from Canada.
Perkin Brothers are stepping up ..... bigger is not always better . This should be an amazing house....I vote for Jamie to be the next ....... New Yankee Workshop Master Carpenter replacing Norm Abram !
Cripes, this is a massive project looking forward to this fantastic new Perkins Crew build. Welcome to the new guy Max, like your Banjo playing skills Max. Cheers for the reel Eric.
Yes, the ground floor of another Perkins house! I've been following for awhile now and UA-cam has been great about showing me your new videos, even though I hadn't even subbed ... until now. Only 20k to a million! I'm excited for you all! Thank you for making such fun, watchable videos! (I ain't even in construction!)
I checked out from the channel for a while because so many of the builds were the same so im actually really interested to watch this one. Because this is a modern build, i hope there is more Matt Risinger level building science involved in this build and that you let Jaime actually talk about it!
I honestly love y’all series of houses I’m doing construction myself well I’m a student doing construction but honestly when I started watching y’all I started to fall in love with the work y’all do 😊😊😊
Been binge watching all of y'alls builds in the last couple of weeks. I'm a long time watcher though. Looking forward to this new build! You guys are great and have my respect and admiration.
Worked with concrete for 20 years. Have checked a building for square maybe 5 times 😂 Your flat site right there is a dream. My last job was a 200'x50' office building. Always using total station with prisms, usually that company also makes 3D plans for the excavators. We also put up new grid lines for every floor we start on. We just start with lets say 12m/40 ft of footing in a corner, It fits the length of the rebar, and the PERI maximo we are using. Then we alternate back and forth or just go the whole length before we start the next side. 3-4 pours for 200ft.. Pour footings and walls everyday, and dont stop for bad weather..
UAP flyby @16:30, then cue the biggest baddest synthwave @16:41 (Erik: more of this music please!). Big bugs don't fly in a large elliptical pattern with a flat trajectory, traverse >100 feet in less than 1 second (45 frames), and don't look like a perfect dark cylinder with rounded edges like a tic-tac. The transparent wings are a visual foil of mimicry using signature management, as shown in many other UAP cases. Look at the last frame upon its exit stage right @16:31 - the 14th frame to be exact (use < and > to move 1 frame either direction in UA-cam). In 4K, the edges are sharp, so you'd think you'd be able to see at least the shape of the thorax and abdomen, if not the head, too. And the supposed "wings" - they look like they're coming off the tail. And you'd be able to hear big bugs like that, but the microphone doesn't pick up anything that sounds like a big buzzing bug - you should hear it within 10 feet! Could it be a bug? Maybe. But it just doesn't behave or look like one upon closer inspection. And we know the phenomenon is real. Additional video analysis is needed. :)
Hello guys...I confess that this project gave me butterflies in my stomach, there are a lot of numbers to analyze...I will follow each step because in this mega project I will learn a lot. May the force be with you. Big hug from São Paulo - Brazil.
I understand that the rule of thumb for videos is that each minute of length takes an hour of editing time, which would be around 20-25 hours twice a week for Eric. I’m not sure you can make them longer and still have time to sleep, but 35-40 minute videos would be GREAT IMHO!!
You guys inspired me so much that I have finally decided to quit my actual career (I am 52 now) and I am looking for a community college in the US that acceps foreign (European) students for a carpentry diploma. What you do is what I want to do.
PBB and crew - Love your excitement for this project. Oh my gosh, Jaime and the really Big Big boy toy - made me smile. Miss you guys and your humor. Best to all of you on this Mega build! ❤🔥💕
The moment we’ve been waiting for! You couldn’t have asked a better team to build this beautiful home! Wish we could have a home built by PBB! Great build ahead~
I’d watch 5 hour episodes from you guys. Starting a new project is always the best content. Love watching the construction stuff, not so much the finishing but that’s just me
As a heavy equipment operator myself, I am impressed with the work he did to prep that site. It's too bad no footage got taken of it because that took a lot of skill to prep it properly. There is a reason why he is obviously successful in his business. That said, it drives me crazy that Eric used orange paint for layout. Come on Eric, you know better. Get some white paint and do it properly. White is for excavation.
Welcome Max! 🪕. I'm pleased to see that new grass is already growing on the site 🌻 will be interesting to see this build progress. Thanks for sharing 🙏
9:15 when you pin all your plans together, put sheets of acetate between each page and now you can mark your plans as much as you like and then lift the acetate away when you need the unedited version. Just use sharpies or even whiteboard markers like you would if drawing on glass or a whiteboard.

Excited for a new build! Hoping the home owner is as cool as Ramelle, She set the bar high for sharing her new home with all PBB fans!
Ramelle seemed to run into some budget problems at the end there… at least that’s my observation

Finally a new build. Been liking the tweeners but these are the best.

Jamie should have been able to take the CAD drawing and overlay a drone shot of the cleared area. Would have made the 'best fit' portion a lot easier.
don't even need a drone.. just mesure the area with a tape and draw it on a piece of paper then overlay the cut model tloris of the house and play with it.

This build is going to be great, please make videos longer then 25 mins
40 mins please
There is a reason Kyle from RR has his 1.8m followers: videos of 50+ min with a professional videographer shooter and editor, just saying 😊
1min of video is a minimum of 10mins to edit. Often can take 20-30mins. 40mins would bee 400mins/60min= 6,5h of edit.. that's alot of time.
100% agree would love a little longer videos !!! Please
