    IMHO $20 is not a lot for a pair of socks considering the quality, craftsmanship, and durability. If you average out the cost of what you'll spend on a pack of nike's vs 1 pair of DT over their lifetime, then you'll come out ahead with DT plus you get a lifetime warranty as you mentioned AND you can wear them multiple times before they start getting funky! Sometimes it's better to buy something with a higher upfront cost but have the peace of mind that it will last a lifetime, literally. Great video BTW!

    I have some Heavy Point6 Hicking socks and I can't imagine something more comfortable. Ive ordered some Darn Tough Steely Boot Socks, so I will soon see if the reviews are live or Memorex.

    Cloudline merino socks are a little better in my opinion. They have a better warranty where you dont even have to mail back the socks. Darn tough you have to pay the 3-5 dollars for shipping so they arent technically free...

    • @logdoggybrown
      @logdoggybrown  3 роки тому

      Cloudlines are awesome socks as well. All the exact same specs as Darn Toughs. I send in about 5 pairs every 3-4 years and paying and extra $4 that infrequently really in minuscule to me. For someone else not so much, I get it. The only thing I can find is the fit and comfort are slightly different on both brands. They are both great quality products.

    • @logdoggybrown
      @logdoggybrown  3 роки тому

      Cloudline seems to also lack longevity and variation options since its such a young company. 5 years isn't that long. Darn tough ONLY MAKES SOCKS! Theres something to be said about a company that has honed in on one specific product, perfecting it over time.

    • @ddff5242
      @ddff5242 3 роки тому +1

      @@logdoggybrown I agree with that. Darn tough definitely seems like they have a higher chance of being around 10 years from now. I love both and have both. Can really tell much of a difference. The lesser hassle of not having to mail them in and wait for a week makes me really appreciate cloudline.

    • @logdoggybrown

      Cool to see new companies like cloud line getting their foot in the business too.

      I run 10-15 miles a week in these, and they wick well, even in summer. No complaints here.

    The thing is if you live anywhere outside the US, sending them back really isn't feasible. I don't know if it's even covered. Would you say these socks are worth lets say 25-30 bucks/euros without the warranty?

    I've had my darn tough socks for about 8 months and they are full of holes. They are not that tough. The socks I have on now are 4 years old and no holes and cost less than half of darn tough

    What size shoe do you wear in what brands? I wear 9 in Red Wings, 9.5 in Vans, 10 in casual Nikes, and 10.5 in running shoes (Altra). I’m right between sizes. Leaning toward medium, but curious what your shoe size is since you have mediums.

    • @logdoggybrown
      @logdoggybrown  3 роки тому +1

      I’m usually a size 9 all around most shoes, 9 in thorogoods. 8.5 in nikes. 9 in Salomon running shoes. I’d say go with large cuz mediums are. Tad tight even for me. My brother is size 10 shoes and he goes large in darn tough.

    Air dry your wool socks - they will last longer

    • @logdoggybrown
      @logdoggybrown  2 роки тому +2

      Why do I care if they last longer if they have a lifetime warranty? I send my socks in once a year and they replace all of them

    How can it have lifetime warranty - it is not possible for any sock to not have a hole at some point

    • @logdoggybrown

      You just send them in to the company and they send you new ones. I’ve sent in all my socks every couple years and they send me free replacements

    I am wondering. How does the company survive with a lifetime warranty.

    • @logdoggybrown
      @logdoggybrown  3 роки тому +1

      I think you get a lot of people that don't utilize the lifetime warranty. But also, you make an amazing product, you will always be able to sell it.

      IKEA gives 25 y guarantee on some of its products
      But when you read into it ,
      First you have to bring the bill and that’s a must .

      It’s more of a marketing strategy

      They charge the price of 5, 10 socks for 1 pair. They are a bit more to produce, vut they charge a lot more, meaning they can even sell 5 of them for that price and still be in the plus

      They are counting on your dryer to eat up one side of the socks at a time, so that you can't return it for warrantee. This is why they have all these designs on the socks.

    How much is the shipping when you need to return the socks for warranty purposes?

    • @logdoggybrown

      Usually standard shipping $4-7 depending where you live

    Are these good to wear w/ steel toe heavy work boots in summer heat ?

    • @logdoggybrown

      Yep they are breathable. I wore these with thorogood steel toe boots for a few years while working in carpentry in chicago. Hot summers, my feet were never too hot. Hope this helps!

    I don't agree with your review about Darn Tough you will never convince me to buy them, they are too expensive and don't back up their products. Did you never wonder why they are the only company to have a lifetime warranty????? None of the other companies have them and guess what they are the only one that have holes in them in less than five months, I know I had six pairs and all of them in one year had holes in them! I have Smartwool, Icebreaker, Possum (from Australia), Lorpen, Woolrich, and none of them have hole in them, geez how come? I have sent them three pairs of socks to Darn Tough and never heard from them, I send them emails, phone them, nothing! I lost my three pair of socks (cant fix them anymore) since Darn Tough kept them, they are liars and thieves! NEVER BUY DARN TOUGH, EVER! I also in my last email to them, mention that I would never say anything good about their products, ever!

    • @logdoggybrown
      @logdoggybrown  2 роки тому

      Not true, I have a pair that I’ve had for like 6 years and no holes. I’ve also sent in my socks only a couple times in the past 10 years, they have lifetime warranty because they stand by their customers and actually care about them. You must be thinking of a different company, or you are simply not being truthful, because I’ve had around 10 people or so that I know who have had the same experience as me over the past decade.

      Darn tough are well worth the price . I’m a heavy equipment technician and I’m always in steel mills and construction sites walking through mud, water and all kinds of chemicals in all kinds of industrial environments . I consider them cheaper than Hanes or Nike or any cheaper brands because I put holes in those socks with is two weeks . I’ve never been able to wear holes in darn tough socks and I’ve been wearing them for a year
