One thing I like is that it isn't exactly the same sound as the first album. Definitely more polish, but also you can hear how they have matured as musicians.

You're making the same decision engineers did in the 80's.

Overusing reverb usually makes a mix sound cheap. A great way I've found of preserving the vocal while still having a large, present reverb is side-chain compressing the vocal itself to the reverb Aux track. This will pull down the reverb while you're singing, and will release it back to its original level after a line is complete.

This song you can hear it but it works beautifully you have to admit it. If you want to hear his voice in a song that has no reverb listen to the last unicorn cover he did its awesome.

Danny, Peter. It's been four years since you released this little tune. I didn't know at the time the significance it would have to me. I have spent my life alone, with very little intimacy or love, and recently I had a small fling with a wonderful girl. We were supposed to be together for a long time, we were both excited.

I can speak from an engineer writer, musician and singer's point of view here and he is NOT using auto-tune at all. It's backtracking harmonizing. Which is truly difficult to do. His use of reverb and chorus is par for the course. There isn't a singer out there that doesn't use it. The complaints are extremely unwarranted. To each their own, but he has a terrific voice and can FX it however he wants to. He is the artist. I personally would never go dry on vocals, EVER. To all who complain. Just remember this. If you can understand what he is saying. He isn't that effected. Many mainstream and mega producers make it to where their singers are unintelligible. This is a really good song, done by super professionals.. I should know.. I am one ;)

Danny is from another world man
I've loved Skyhill since I found the Rin With The Hunted album sometime around summer of 2013, when I was still in high school. That album got me through a real rough patch of mental health issues. Now, almost nine years later, I've revisited the band after the loss of my mom. This song, especially, has really resonated with me since it happened. I assume it is referring to a platonic or romantic partner, but the lyrics have brought me some comfort in this situation regardless. My mother was a firefly. Although I had to let her go, I will always remember her words and actions as echoes, and that will keep her spirit alive. Thanks, guys. Your music means so much in times like these. ❤

(I say this because I bet you're thinking of him making music like Eric Nally).

Hearing Danny sing like this feels different, but it that refreshing kind of different. Whatever he sings gains so much feeling. You can tell that Danny just radiates passion when he sings. Danny will honestly be one of the greats like Geddy Lee and Steve Perry to me. I hope he always stays this way.

it's the mixing, starbomb had a wider sound, meaning the instruments are more spread, this I a good song, but yeah could use some eq work too.

Man, when I first heard that Danny had Skyhill in our lives over two years ago, I was ecstatic when I sat down and listened to their whole album. The world needs more music like this, this amalgamation of electro folksy kind of music.
