As someone that suffers from manic depression, this song is one of the few things that can help me start to drag myself out of my lows.
There is just something about the last two minutes of this song that is incredibly uplifting to me. I often find myself repeating the lyrics in my head.
Dan, I'm really excited to hear more skyhill in the future. Thank you for pouring every bit of yourself into the music you make. And Peter, you're awesome too.
I feel you, dude! I had depression too in the past, and music is something that can actually help on a daily basis.
+Juan Martinez I had a depression too, about one year ago, and when I discovered Skyhill last summer just when I was at my lowest, things started to get better and their music was what kind of guided me on my way.
I'm not saying Skyhill made my depression go away, it was just that things started to pick up for me and incidentally I had discovered Skyhill shortly before that point, so their music carries a huge amount of emotions for me, especially hope and happiness.
I hope you get better soon, just know you're never alone out there

+Azrael _ Hah it's funny you mention that, I discovered their music while I was going through a depression and dealing with PTSD pretty hard. Their music was there near some of the lowest points in my life and just as I started turning it all around. It definitely gives you a sense of hope and understanding.
bisholia I'm glad someone feels the same way I do about it.
There's still some songs out there that I dislike listening to, no matter how good they are, they simply carry all the weight of too many bad memories and experience for me.
But Skyhill is just all about positivity for me, plus, I got way more confident in my singing abilities thanks to them, and that helped me a lot since I love singing.
As much as I love NSP, I want to hear more of this. This song puts me in a such a trance, and it is so calming after a stressful day. Please make more music like this, Dan and Pete.
I felt the same about under the covers. His voice is perfect for serious songs AND goofy ones; why choose?

We're finally getting it. October 13th, 2023.
I came here for Danny, as I've become a bit of a superfan. I didn't even realise how popular he'd become I just loved Nsp and Game Grumps without paying attention to the recent hype. I even wrote my first ever piece of fan mail (I'm 32) naively thinking the Grumps would see it.
So looking up Skyhill I was just expecting to like it "Because it's Danny".
This is beautiful music. I've heard the whole album now and I'm so happy to have heard it. I wish I'd come across it accidentally, years ago.
*wakes up in the morning, sick as a dog, sees like six Skyhill songs in my subscription box*

It's a shame there's only one album. I love NSP, but I think I like SkyHill's music a bit more. It's unique, sure, but I think they really had something good going.

I like both bands for entirely different reasons :) Whenever I need "tasty ass jams" I'll turn on some NSP/Starbomb. Whenever I need something more relaxed I'll turn on some Skyhill.
He met Brian in 2009, only after Skyhill went downhill. So probably we wouldn't have NSP and Arin wouldn't have met him either. Funny how life is.
With Under the Covers, I think I just like Danny doing serious songs. I'm not saying he's wasting talent by doing comedy songs, quite the opposite, but I wouldn't want to listen to comedy songs quite the same way.
Email -your congressman- Dan. If he doesn't cave under stacks of fanmail asking for something different, we'll have to content ourselves with a stream of covers.
I wonder if it was intentional how at the end of this song Dan hums the tune to Hands On The Water and that song is at the beginning of the album and this song is at the end.

If you listen around, you will find that a lot of songs on albums (certainly not all and not even most, but quite a lot) will have a small slice of the next song on the album at the end of some/all of their songs.
I'm assuming they do this to make all the songs on the album flow together, but I don't know for sure because I am not a musician.

Dan has said hes completely down to do it. It's the other half of the band that has another job and doesn't have the time to. Nor does he show interest as much in music anymore.

Dan said at a panel that he was a big fan of Zero 7, and even said Simple Things was one of their favoriet albums, I feel like you can really hear that in this track. Amazing track Dan and Pete!
I feel it too! Specially in Storms of September. I love Zero 7 and this definitely has some similar elements in it
+TheComicArtist I think Afterglow has a strong In The Waiting Line feel to it, maybe because the chord progression is very alike.
I believe the guitar in In The Waiting Line plays the same notes that Danny sings in the background in Afterglow, although I might be wrong.

Would love to see this or something similar eventually make a resurgence. NSP is a genuine gift to mankind, a gem in the music world. But this has a nice feel to it as well, very early 2000s grunge.

this sounds like it could be the soundtrack to like an awesome training montage. That turning point where the layabout fledging swordsman gets his ass handed to him and his ego deflated so he turns to introspection. We see him address his inner flaws and turn strengths into weaknesses.

Hooray! So I'm not the only long time skyhill fan :D. I'm definitely glad that Dan and Peter have got back together, even if it was just for one song. But considering that Firefly is the #1 song on Amazon I'm sure we'll be seeing more from them soon.
