Hi! Uneducated person here. I really love many pieces that are designed by black people but I am not sure if it's appropriate to wear them as a white person? I say this because I saw few angry people on twitter because this so I am not sure?.... I mean it makes sense that it would be ok, because you love the design and also support the artist? But some ppl confuse me and I am quite gullible.
You must’ve misunderstood or misinterpreted their anger. There’s nothing wrong with wearing clothing from black designers. We all wear clothing from foreign designers and manufacturers daily... The only scenario I can see where it’s inappropriate is if you’re non-black and wearing a shirt that says “Black and Proud” or you’re wearing traditional attire like kente, or Native American drappings when you’re not Native American.
