Title Should have been I Built a Digital Sand Clock From Someones Design maybe I should do that on my channel I Made A Game and then just play a game I modded?
That's awesome! I totally want to make this. I wonder how hard it would be to make the sand grains follow gravity a little more closely instead of just 4 directions
I like the Digital Clock for many reasons. The Main reason I like it is that it can be on perfect timing where as the sand clock will never be accurate.
I expected numbers to flash after each minute to tell the time like a clock, and then reset the sands without the need to flip, that would be perfect! Especially since the 8 shape fits it so perfectly! Are you going to review the programming and make a V.2?
Fascinating! 👏Good idea bro... As the whole circuit, I'd like to know how much total current consumption? When you flip the sand timer, there is delay bug. Why is it? Is it related with accelerometer library?
Hey that is awesome! I just wanted to ask you what Website you're using to connect the things virtually because it doesn't look like Tinkercad. Would you mind telling me what the name of the website is? And sorry if my English is bad it's not my Mothertongue.
there are are already products like this that you can buy, but they only display the grains as a fraction of the set time, not like actual grains with gravity. Personally the gravity version looks cooler
It really works. Wooohooo³. Let's call Oslo and Stockholm. Next Nobel Prize is yours!!! Reminds me of my friend that deserves only the best italian marble for her statue...
Great video. But i have to say, if you use a Udamonic Scamp instead of an arduino, debugging is much faster and easier! Try one... you'll be a convert.
Well, in the code you have to set the time and you can modify the variable data with a potentiometer but I think that isn't a lot of precise, at least If you use normal or cheap one
Your amazon link the the Arduino is Different than the Ali express one. It's a Nano Every VS a Nano 3. I purchased the every from your link and it just shows one board lit up save for a few pixels not like it thinks it's turned on it's side and doesn't move. After re soldering every connection and trying new components and a breadboard the every does not seem to work with this project....
The movement of the individual LED grains of sand doesn't look that realistic, but you probably need a lot more CPU power than the Arduino provides to do that - to calculate acceleration, bouncing, sliding, and so on.

It looks kinda weird for the sand on the bottom to pile up into a square. The 45 degree angle of repose seems too steep. The same is true on top, but inverted; the sand is piling up on the sides a bit too much. I assume your code works by looking at each particle and determining where it needs to go based on what's near it. If so, you can fix the angle of repose thing by giving each particle a very small chance to attempt to move down and *extra* left, or down and *extra* right.
@@engineericly the thingiverse page could have been yours. I think saying "I found this project by NAME_OF_THE_AUTHOR" is the least you could do to thank the author

Nice idea and project. Nevertheless I prefer the analog sand clock: no need to charge and no battery aging.

As it is an electronic san clock I would suggest adding an option to customize the duration of the cycle.
Is this available on instructables?❤

I made one for my college project in 2003 using LED's and flipflops, with a ball tilt switch to reverse the flow.
nice idea!
It's a cool design but you could probably replace the switch *and* the accelerometer with just one mercury (or ball) switch.
Wow, nice suggestion, thank you!

Hey, what printer bed do you use, I didn’t notice any glue marks and I have been looking for good beds for a while now
Hello, I did use the default bed of BiquBX with some 3D Printer glue, but I would prefer, glass or PEI bed

How time accurate is this? Is the rate of sand fall customizable?
Well, in the code you have to set the time and you can modify the variable data with a potentiometer but I think that isn't a lot of precise, at least If you use normal or cheap one
Adding RTC module can make it accurate.
Without RTC module, it's really based on how the code written.
