This isn't my scene, so I thought I watch for a minute or two, but I was glued to the screen to the end. The number of disciplines involved in making this, a single individual, I can't comprehend how brilliant some people are. I really enjoyed this, thanks.
Amazing job! Don't beat yourself up over the small stuff. The monitor turning is totally a bonus and not necessary at all. This is so cute and adorable and really bring you back to the way computers were in the 90's.
The amount of joy I am getting from seeing this work in action is astronomical. No joke, if you were to make these for sale, I would be front & center ready to buy one.
Every time I opened a PC case from the ’90s, it was like signing a blood pact! Those things were covered in so many sharp edges, especially the removable cut-outs! I swear, if you didn’t walk away with at least one cut and a new set of dried blood fingerprints, were you even really building a PC?
Man you've got a downright gorgeous workspace, that's the only way to describe it. It was nice to see someone using resin for parts like these. You just can't get that level of detail with a normal printer.
I just found your channel through Instructables, and I have to say this was beyond outstanding from start to finish! Thanks for the great mini PC project !
That's incredible! The screen looks a lot like (and probably is the same as) the 720x720 4" display in my PowKiddy RGB30 handheld games console. It's great for playing horizontal and vertical oriented arcade games. Didn't realise you could buy it separately, so thanks for that. Come to think of it, the speakers look the same too.
Great project! Tbh the only real flaw I can see is going with a Windows XP-styled skin for a PC with that kind of design - that's a Windows 2000 machine at most, though W98 would be just as fitting. XP era Dells were more often black and much more rounded and stylized in their designs IIRC. Now, this might be on the "going a bit too far" side, but once you're making your own SD card reader PCB, why not make a 3D printed floppy disk microSD card holder that fits into a suitable slot, where the card interfaces with a reader? Or a CD-rom tray you can pull out that holds the card? This would of course require a lot of careful design, plus probably disassembling an SD reader to get the pins without the housing, but it would be incredibly cool. Still, even as it is now, 10/10 project, super well done!
OMG! This is AWESOME! Well done! If you plan on selling these I MUST have one. I learned to code basic on these so I have a deep love for these machines. Thanks for making this vid and sharing your build! ❤️❤️
This is somewhere between astonishing and fantastic. To say that you're cool means to say nothing at all! It's like... I mean.... man I'm totally overwhelmed!!!!!!!
Amazing attention to detail, just beautiful. All the old school games i used to play back in the late 90's! Couldn't get Golden Axe to play on my crappy computer running Windows 3.1. My mum didnt want to get Windows 95, cause she had learned on 3.1 and was worried she wouldn't be able to use 95.
I do love how you embedded the ad/sponsor in the video. I didn’t even skip ahead at the risk of missing content 🤷♂️ Also a fantastic project!! 😊 You gained a sub and probably a lot more.
Abso, fuk'n. epic. Your attention to detail, candor/transparency, and production quality of your content earned an enthusiastic subscriber and I can't wait to check out your other vids. Thanks for sharing, what an awesome project!
I LOVE this video. And I wouldn't have appreciated it as much if not for the conclusion and reflection at the end of the video. Really showed that you care about the process! Keep it up big guy
0:1916:38 Super fast build mode! Damn, I expected some quick and dirty "click bait worthy" content. And, oh boy am I glad to be wrong! You worked a lot, and really have a passion for details, it's awesome! The end result is awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful work with us all.
Despite the flaws you mentioned this is incredibly work. I like your idea and how you went about building it. And last but not least nicely edited video with very nice b-roll footage.
I had a great time with Pentium II and Pentium III , browsing the web , playing video games , watching Divx , playing emulators back in 2003's . I still have my IBM 300GL , I need rams , the cpu and a new CRT
It was Beautiful, man. I really feels the 90’s vibe in every single piece that you’ve projected all by yourself, and most important thing, all that parts of the project were made with attention in details, even the pronounced parts of texture and the tiny water decals, remembering me in, and I believe, everyone here was delighted by the charming and nostalgic idea. It’s amazing. Greetings from Brazil.
You could add tiny smd LED (or other one) to illuminate LED on monitor, but god darn this is the most interesting video with RPi i have seen in a long time, even music in this video is retro and fits the theme! Well done!
I have some suggestions for significantly improving the product experience and making it even more realistic than the original. One of the main things that is noticeable right away, that tells you it only looks like a replica, is the lack of a lensed screen made from glass. It is possible to create it from clear resin mold. The best option is to cast a glass shape, which is a complicated process, but this will be a top-notch solution. Another thing is not to add extra weight to the monitor. This could be done quickly by adding small metal inserts on the side walls of the box. But even with all configurations, this project is in a league of its own! It would be cool to convert the old ball mouse and keyboard to wireless. So there will be a complete setup
AMAZING. I have been looking at doing this for many years, but basically just sticking a pi inside of an existing case I have that looks like a miniature pc but it is a novelty storage case for floppy discs. But you have gone total next level and the design of it is spot on. Now just to make some miniature speakers! The only thing I would have changed really is having the micro sd slot be a standard sd slot with a microsd inside an adapter card. Not sure if this messes up anything with the pi system, but the bigger sd slot may be less fiddly. If you did a small kickstarter for these (say 1000 units) just the kit without the pi, you would probably get the funding within a day and then some!
Salim , amazing work man, next video suggestions .. 1. video for your setup . 2. video for how you put your camera's and how you make your youtube videos .. keep it forward . best of success!
Dang, I didn’t realize home 3d printing had come that far. I’ve never done any myself, but occasionally check out different 3d print projects, so I don’t follow it super closely. But the quality on those prints looks amazing. I’ll have to look into resin printing some more. Also, the quality of this whole build (and video) is incredible!
FDM printers are getting quite fast and detailed too. Currently, which you go with depends on your use case: Resin (SLA) printers are kings of detail, so if you want to make a lot of detailed figurines, Resin is the way to go, but it's drawback is that resin is brittle and chips/breaks easily and also should not be subjected to sunlight. PLA/Filament (FDM) printers can't compete on level of detail (yet) but have gotten significantly faster, and allow you to use a wider range of materials that can be quite robust, which is great for part-replication and mechanical use. (Sorry if I'm over explaining.) What is nice, is you can have an intro into either machine style for about $250 these days, which is quite affordable! Though of course, this is one of those realms where "you get what you pay for" is still very apt, and the more you spend on a printer, the more perks and easier to use it is. I have one of both types, and while I use my resin printer a lot more... because all my friends want mini-figs of their DND characters, the PLA printer is by-far the more useful one for tinkering and every-day useful items. (Also, it should be noted, is that the filament printers are typically far cheaper per-print to use, over expensive resin.) While I don't have a particular recommendation for any machine, the stuff coming out of, say, Bamboo Labs is quite good for beginners and pros alike, and might be a good place to start your research if you choose to pursue the bug. I don't recommend going down the rabbit hole of UA-cam machine reviews though, there lies madness! (Sarcasm, I always recommend one does their homework. But, you just quickly learn that NONE of the manufacturers are perfect, every machine has it's pros and cons, every 3D print youtuber has their bias favorites, and it's still the "Wild West" where all things are concerned... though a slightly more established and civilized Wild West then it was a decade ago. Heh heh.) Huh, I didn't intend to "go off" here, but here we are.
3D printers have not come far, but they are a bit faster, with a bit less calibration. This project shows that, after printing he had days of finishing to make the plastic look nice.
The work you put into this project plus the great editing and camera work are top-notch! The monitor wobble is definitely a real-life thing, so that's actually a "happy little accident." Great video. Subbed for sure so I don't miss out on your other projects!
Beautyful! I think about to built such a thing for myself, theoretically I have everything needed for at home (beside eventually the screen and so) but its pretty much work for.... nostalgy ;) Anyway: gr8 work!!!
This was absolutely incredible. I have no words! I wish I was as knowledgeable as you in doing something like this! The games shown at the end made me incredibly happy 😊
Really great project and video, thank you :D And I think the monitor swing makes it more realistic ^^ I remember some weren't very stable after some years...
I've always wished there was a company that still made CRTs, but with modern technology, and you've absolutely nailed it! Is there any chance you could create a full-sized CRT monitor, maybe 15 or 17 inches? That would be incredible! Since older CRTs are becoming fragile with failing capacitors and other malfunctions, having a brand-new life-sized CRT with today’s tech would be amazing. I'd gladly pay good money for it! Do you think the market is too small for companies to turn this into a viable business?
this brings lot of memory, year 91 first comp that i have exactly like this, superr... the recording, editing and everything you have gives millions subscribers youtube channel energy/aura man... one subscribe up👍
this is badass. amazing execution and attention to detail. there are too many amazing channels to sub to on youtube these days, but i'm definitely adding this one. i hope your resin printer is outside of your living environment though! resin is incredibly toxic, know of many folks getting phantom sickness and lung disorders that they didn't realize the source of until it was much later....

Dear Salim, honestly, make this a buyable thing... maybe just in a small amount! I've just turned 40 this year, and THIS is exactly what would stop my midlife crisis!
19:15 - That "slop" in the monitor... replicates just about every monitor I had back in the day! Great job!
Haha! You’re right! Mine too had that
i came to comment exactly this.
100% the old plastic monitor stands were absolute trash. One solid smack to the desk and the whole thing would wiggle.

the real monitors wobble like that... you nailed it
Yes! 😂 Just missing the "Turbo" button no one knows what does 🤣
@@TheStuartstardust The Turbo button slows down the CPU so it can run older applications at the correct speed.
@@JoBot__so it's more of a slow button
Yea, all my CRT monitors had that wobble too.

yes... in kit form....me want
Pls sell these and do ship internationally 😢
you could create kits to assemble, you would sell thousands of them 💰💰💰

I'm interested in buying as well

the fact you can make something so compact, functional and aesthetically pleasing is a testament to how skilled you are, holy crap.
These are the type of videos that deserves millions of views.
The algorithm did not respect this video enough
This is maybe the coolest thing I've seen anyone do with a 3d printer 🙌
If this was on Amazon would buy it in a heartbeat
but how much would you pay?
$150-ish?
Simply AMAZING! I can’t get over how realistic it is. Every computer geek needs one of these.
