    I purchased the lite version a week ago to use with my net return in my garage. I put down those 1" exercise tiles to create an elevated surface that runs 6' wide by 8' long and cut out a slot for the hitting strip. I cannot compare it to the original softy, however, after using this off a concrete floor, it surpassed my expectations. It will absolutely let you know when you fat a shot, however it will give way as needed. Does not feel bouncy or too hard. I would like it if somehow they added a 1/4" more turf but honestly I am very pleased when hitting all shot types. Bit of advice, I put a layer of cardboard under the strip with hole cut outs matching the strip to help with noise of the hard board contacting the concrete as well as to let the strip breathe better when compressing. Seemed to help soften it just a bit more.

      3 months later, how is it working for you? I'm strongly considering the Softy Lite because I'm trying to maximize height in my garage which has ceilings at 8 1/2 ft high. Have you experienced any discomfort from the mat? That's my main concern.

      @@Nick-kq2sw I still use it everyday (or most days). So much so, that I have been through at least four golf balls (cracked from so many hits). Quality of the strip has not deteriorated and only shows visual discoloration if anything. The pile is still tight and level with the unused part. It’s amazing how little it shows wear. Would buy again! I still would love to try it against the full softy, but like you I needed the height savings.

    I tend to come in a bit steep in my swing at times. Do you think I will be better served by the Softy or the Softy Lite? I have found that my current mat causes the club head to bounce off the mat.

      The regular softy will have a little more cushion but the main difference in feel is the longer turf on top vs the putting turf on the lite.

    I’m glad they made a “lite” version. That extra inch makes a difference in a garage like mine. But it’s hard to argue against the Softy. For as much as I hit ground first, I don’t have any issues with shock.

    I purchased the 10x4 Sigpro Softee last year but have never been a fan of the standing pad sides. They are too soft and spongy for my liking. Does the new Softee Lite version have a firmer stance?

    The Sigpro Super Softy is perfect. Don’t forget, if you were to move your strikes around on the original Softy, and it wears down, id hitting towards the front of the mat you now bring the lip of the part you don’t hit on into the path of the strike. Ouch! Dangerous man

    Between this and your review of several mats, I was convinved and ordered a Softy with your link. One word of caution, they splash "free shipping" all over their website BUT that doesn't apply to bulky items like mats. Minimum shipping to me in California was $199 and it didn't show up until payment time. Felt a bit scammed but hopefully the mat is worth it.

      @friendly_golfer  29 днів тому +1

      Yeah, I think that is a newer decision they made because I'm pretty sure they used to included it in the price. I hope you like it once you get it. I've had the opportunity to switch to a lot of other ones but still prefer it. Also, double check the shipping time if you weren't aware because they have had some pretty long lead times for shipping since the holidays.

    I don't really want to spend (about) $700 MORE , to get a whole set up, when a strip will do.
    But how do I secure it?

  • @gl0ry
    @gl0ry 6 місяців тому

    I have the softy and like it a lot but there are some issues with it for sure. The hitting strip sheds a lot of "green dust" especially when new. After you use it for a while there is a wear spot, but it doesn't really affect the feel and it stops shedding. Second thing is that you should never wear spiked shoes even if they're rubber. Mine wore out in only about 3 months with bald spots from the mat. You may say that it's a no brainer, but my old mat never had any issues with my rubber spikes. The indoor golf shop has a good warranty and they replaced mine, but I hope this helps those with the mat.

    • @friendly_golfer
      @friendly_golfer  6 місяців тому

      Good points there. I remember the green dust on my irons. I've never had any problems with the stance mat but I wear the same spikeless shoes every time. I could see spikes tearing it up though...

  • @Nick-kq2sw

    My concern with a mat that doesn't have a rubber base is the mat shifting or curling up. I don't care if it moves slightly after a round/session, just not after every shot. Any thoughts about the SigPro Lite in this regard?

    • @friendly_golfer
      @friendly_golfer  2 місяці тому

      Unfortunately I can't really answer because I only tested the hitting strip, not the full mat. It's not a concern with the regular Softy mat that I have and the Lite looks similar but again, I haven't used the full softy lite mat.

    is the sigpro lite and the sigpro softy the same dimensions (width and length, not the height). Their website says the lite is 12 by 24 inch when the softy is 12 by 28 inch however they appear to be the same size in your video

    I'm a 280 lbs golfer and I also have a friend that's 300 lbs and I'm concerned the SIGPro Softy 4x10 will feel terrible under my feet as I swing. Do you have a larger friend that could hit on the SIGPro Softy and provide some feedback? I wish I did but I don't. I've heard from a few people that don't like the stance mat because it's too squishy but for me it's no problem at all. As you know I'm a small guy though. I only feel it when I occasionally walk on it barefoot. I can tell you I don't think the SUPER Softy would have that problem at all. The stance mat is different and much firmer. I'm also not sure about the LITE version because I only tested the strip itself. Sorry, I wish I could help more...

    • @friendly_golfer
      @friendly_golfer  2 місяці тому +1

      I don't believe so. The Softy definitely doesn't but I don't think I had any green clubs with the LITE. I know I've had that before but I can't remember which mat. Maybe the fiberbuilt grass? I would say you'd probably get away with fat shots on the LITE a little more since it has the putting turf. I find that lets the club slide across a little more easily.

      It's actually a layer of 1" foam tiles and then 1" insulation board because I already had the foam tiles there. It's holding up ok but I would recommend the foam tiles because the insulation board just dents too easily. They should be close to the same price. How would you compare the turf of sig pro to ez tee? I’m the minority that feel ez tee grabs more than others.

    • @friendly_golfer
      @friendly_golfer  5 місяців тому

      I also felt the EZ Tee hybrid was just slightly too grabby to keep long term. The turf on the softy is very similar (it might even be EZ Tee, not sure) BUT I find that it doesn't grab the club at all. I don't know if that's because it's slightly different turf or if it's because the foam underneath allows for some cushion/movement that keeps it from grabbing. You can feel the turf some vs the LITE where the club pretty much slides across the putting turf. Hope that helps.

      It should be fine on tile. There's a lot of foam in-between the turf and the ground. You can putt directly on it. If your launch monitors hitting zone is large enough I prefer to hit just off the side on the stance mat since the turf is in better condition there.
