Awesome video man! I'm currently residing in Taipei at the moment and I'd have to say that most people that ride only know how to ride scooters. Some would still ride 125cc-150cc motorcycles. Thanks, bro, for this comparo. I've seen similar videos about what's really inside the cans. Keep up the good work! It never fails to bring a tear to my eyes. I hope in ten years when I'm their age, I'm still on 2. Those fellows have the spirit so many of us lack or have lost somewhere along the way. I'm now with my new old lady, and she loves to ride, AND she's my age! Forever young.... Ride safe.

Two great filter videos. I'm going to have to cut a Triumph filter apart at the next oil change to see how their quality compares. The video of the old men bought a tear to my eye.
Thanks Jay. I lived in Kaohsiung, Taiwan for a year and a half when I was younger and saw various small shops welding cycle frames of different sizes. It was not uncommon to see 3 people on a single motorcycle. The video shows almost all SCOOTERS coming down the ramp. It still takes the same mindset and similar skills to ride on two wheels with or without a V-TWIN for propulsion, especially if the road is crowded. Only time I was around more cyclists was in the 100th Harley celebration in Milwaukee. I rode from Houston , TEXAS to join the rally since I turned 50 years the same time. What an experience.

Asian motorcycle culture is something that has to be experienced to truly appreciate what it is. I have ridden a scooter about 1500 miles in and around Cebu City, Philippines; Scooter, or motorcycle, is the only way to get around with any efficiency. The reason is lane filtering. When traffic comes to a halt, all of the two wheelers thread their way between cars and trucks to get near the front. When the light turns green, it's full throttle into the clear space ahead, until you catch up to the next clump of cars and trucks, and then you repeat the process. As a motorcyclist in the USA, how many times have you imagined riding like that? In the Philippines (and other Asian countries) it is the normal mode.
@@DaBinChe , it is nothing like Cali, because the ratio of 2-wheel to 4-wheel traffic is vastly different, 2-wheelers are the majority. In the USA, even in Cali, 2-wheelers are an anomaly.

Jay the history of Soichira Honda finding a trashed old harley war bike left behind rode it everywhere is another story of detemination, I respect that man, I was born in 1942 the middle of WW 2 for Canada we declared war on Germany 1939. I have ridden Harleys since 1958, I saw the first Honda dream, turn signals for christ's sake. The bordrooms of MC builders in London laughed their asses off at Honda's bike efforts.............and the story continues to unfold, great videos thanks.

I came across the video where you showed the inside of the filters. Then I watched this video. It's great content! I knew a long time ago that Harley Davidson was outsourcing parts. It's the way of the future. Any part you look at on a Harley could have been made over seas. My problem is why did the filter made in the US look so bad. Are we as Americans not giving a shit about the products we make? Or is the corporate greed killing us as workers? We deserve a fair wage! I guess without that, we don't care about the products we put out. I enjoyed your videos. It has made me do some thinking. Not about where I get my next filter, but where corporations are taking us as Americans. I know its all about the dollar. The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. It's time to bring back pride in the good old US of A!!

Ray, these 2 video's are the BEST! A bit late to the party, (gotta love the YT algorithm..). I've meant to get an oil filter cutter for a long time. I own 4 Buell's, I've wanted to do a "health check" every time I've done an oil change. Now I can! BTW, I've been using Fram filters on all of them for many years. Ya done good Ray, you have a subscribe from me. Forgot to mention, the imbedded video was even better this time around. I'd seen it a number of years ago, it's time to get some of my old riding buddies off their buts and back on 2 wheels.
Just found your channel. Thanks for sharing this. I've just gained additional respect for the people of Taiwan. The oil filter was the only item left that I was purchasing from the stealership for my 05 Deluxe.
I worked for a major US H-D aftermarket parts distributor for many years. I know many of the Taiwanese manufacturers personally. They are very good at copying parts harvested from H-D, Rivera-Primo, BDL, Paughco, Dyna, S&S etc. Like other Chinese companies (even though Tiawan is a separate country, unless you ask China) they don't pay any attention to patents or copyrights. They might be good at making oil filters and mirrors but I would caution against using any of their other parts. There is very little R&D, and testing. Their parts vary greatly in quality. One exception would be EMGO. He has been making great parts for many brands of bikes for a long time. An Industry Insider...
I recently purchased CNC stabilizer links, brackets and motor mounts for my 2018 Sportster 48 from a company in Taiwan. The parts are much nicer, much lighter and better made. They look better, feel better and have drastically improved the handling of the bike. I'm also looking at a really nice CNC swingarm and Brembo p34 caliper setup, also from Taiwan!
Unfortunately they make good stuff there. Does anyone remember metal dashboards in our cars? The German engineers are even looking closely at what's going on with QC
Thanks for the great video Jay. I'm sharing this one with a good friend of mine from Taiwan, who I think will take pride in that 3 min video. You just got another subscriber for your kiind/thoughtful end messages.
This the greatest response to criticism! Quietly silencing it by the investigation and presenting the results. I suspect HD due to patents, on their version they had to make it smaller for a different designed check valve on the top. However that does not excuse the bad proportioning of the filter element. I am sure for Quality Control HD would have visited Fram in Taiwan and saw how they manufactured the filters and may have had of copies of the drawings of them!
That video clip gave me chills, or it could be the ice water I was drinking. Nevertheless, it was inspiring. As having lived in Taiwan and planning to move back there in a few years, I can verify that most people ride motorcycles or motor scooters. When I was there, nothing over 150 cc was allowed, but they now have much bigger bikes available.
Cool video about the old guys. I'm 65 and still riding my StreetGlide and WideGlide. I've watched alot of motorcycle oil filter videos. I've been riding motorcycles and driving cars since before I was old enough to get a driver's license. I've almost always changed my own oils and filters as well as other maintenance. I've never even seen an oil filter that had somehow failed. I change my engine oils as required by the manufacturers recommendation. So, I'm not too concerned about the quality of the filter. What I would like to see is an independent analysis of used engine oils comparing different filters...
I laughed and cried at that beautiful video of those men riding their motorcycles. I own a Harley Street Bob and have a great respect for what the Taiwanese are doing and I believe they are truly motorcycle lovers and they love and respect these machines. I'm buying Fram for my next filter. The product speaks for itself and what an eye opener.

I remember that commercial when it came out, but now it has more meaning. I’ve seen both videos and I’m impressed, thanks!!
Another very well done message for all of us. I've owned various HD bikes for the past 48 years.
Thanks, bro, for this comparo. I've seen similar videos about what's really inside the cans. Keep up the good work! That said, what I want to comment on is the video you shared of the elderly Taiwanese gents. I'm a hairy old biker, 70 years young, and I've seen that video before. It never fails to bring a tear to my eyes. I hope in ten years when I'm their age, I'm still on 2. My wife, my soul mate and co-rider, died from cancer 9 years ago, and every time I throw a leg over the saddle, I think of her. Those fellows have the spirit so many of us lack or have lost somewhere along the way. I'm now with my new old lady, and she loves to ride, AND she's my age! Forever young.... Ride safe.
I came here to learn about oil filters but learned much more. Great job and you earned a new subscriber too.
Great Video!!
Thanks for this video. It gives excellent insight into Taiwan's contribution to motorcycling.
Im a 2021 Road King owner. I live in Arizona. I came across this UA-cam video while in my hotel room in Taipei Tiawan. Great information, and the presentation was well done. Thank you.
Two great filter videos. I'm going to have to cut a Triumph filter apart at the next oil change to see how their quality compares. The video of the old men bought a tear to my eye.
Another great video😊! Thank you Jay for dropping some awesome knowledge. Keep up the good work!
You really nailed this video Bro!
Bro you have been on fire with the last couple of videos...Just subscribed...Like your style, keep up the good work...I wish you would have kept the 1970 Kawasaki you sold a few years ago, it would have been great to see some content on that bike they are pretty rare and cool...Anyway I know making good content is hard and time consuming and I for one appreciate you hard work.
You are doing a great job, bud. Thank you for your vids!
Love the no BS way that you present your videos with. I see you don't upload much, but you're well spoken and seem more knowledgeable than me. I wanna hear when you have something to say, so you've definitely earned the sub!
I do this on a normal basis here in Cali.
@@DaBinChe , it is nothing like Cali, because the ratio of 2-wheel to 4-wheel traffic is vastly different, 2-wheelers are the majority. In the USA, even in Cali, 2-wheelers are an anomaly.
@@runalongnowhoney What I mean is that I filter up to the front at the light and WOT to the next light
Holy smokes! Another though provoking video by Jay W Case. Thanks so much.
Amazing past couple videos. Thanks to you I now know how to do my three hole fluids exchange. And I know where not to spend my money on something some would think so trivial.
Jesus Man, You are THE MOST ELOQUENT Presenter on the internet. I can't believe how transfixed I am watching your content. Thank you for a breath of fresh air. Intelligence and engaging quality information isn't dead after all.
Good vid man, thanks for posting it
This is the 2nd video of yours that I watched. I am now a subscriber. Thank you.
The video of those old men (I can call them old as I am old myself) brought tears to my eyes. Thank you Jay. I have subscribed to your channel. By the way, I ride a 1977 Harley Ironhead Sportster.
This video made my week. I cried, I laughed, and was nostalgic. This was gold! Party on dude!!!😎
Great content and presentation. Looking forward to more.
Great embedded video! Live to Ride! You've got me sold on the Fram.
Jay, I think I can honestly say that this is the first video that gave me goosebumps while watching. Thanks again, Liked and already a Subscriber for All.
Found this channel by fluke, wasn't even looking for info on Harley oil filters, even though I own one, awesome content!! Subscribed!!👍
Jay, I enjoy your smooth, calm verbatium. Plain, clear, and absolutely not full of bs.
Your message is what brought me to this comment.
Go do something kind for a stranger
You have a new friend. Yes I ride, been riding since I was a child at 5yrs old. That makes me 49years experience-ed lol
I've been around some shady folks. "Friends in lowly places". Some are not here anymore
But everyday I fight myself to do what you say.
I want to yell and scream, cuss em, flip em off, state holes in them, compare their intelligent with shoe sizes.... All of that is my human side.
As I build my character to be like the one who sacrificed himself for us all, this is probably the hardest part of life.
Thank you, I needed this today!!
God bless you brother
May his grace fill your heart.
You can email me anytime, and we can chat on bikes, life, or whatever you like.
Much respect!! I mean that sincerely and wholeheartedly!!!
Hey J I recently bought a 2007 Heritage softail and your videos have been a great help nothing complicated just the basics but what really impressad me was your life lesson about helping out a stranger Bikers are portraid in so many bad ways but it has been my experience that the ones that I have known over the years are really good people that are always willing to help anyone no matter what they look like or where their from Bike on Bro
We worked with Chiang Kai-shek and his forces to help defeat Japan in WW 2. He settled in Taiwan, a free man. The Chinese are still unhappy about that.
The efforts expended in the CBI Theatre is under appreciated by the Chinese government. My first instructor was a “Hump” pilot. No small feat by all.
Great info! We all want quality parts in our bikes 👍👍
Absolutely Love Your Vibe and Message. God Bless! Original owner of 2004 Harley Heritage Classic and 2010 Honda VFR.
Oh man. Great videos! Frikkin learned something. And your kindness made me cry. Keep m coming and I'll keep watching! I was only sorry to see there weren't more vids in your channel.
Thanks for that video, not the first time I have seen it but damn worth seeing again! Keep up the great work Brother! Ride Far - Ride Fast!
The Zen of riding, excellent video.
Also Jay your a breath of fresh air Great work
Dude, you're awesome man. I found you from your fluid change video with the red bike when I first bought my Fatboy. Then I was looking for a way to clean my Harley jacket without hurting it and your video of the inside of the filters popped up afterwards. Then I came looking for you man. I really like your videos, keep up the good work and make more videos, I'll watch them all. Thanks for all the help, you could be a way bigger channel if you make more videos. 👍
You are opening my eyes , one video at a time. Continue.....ill be here .
@JayWCase Hello from Finland :-). Just bought a 2007 V-Rod Night special and my late interest in Harley Davidson have taken my research to internet and youtube so more and more videos of motorcycle videos are showing up in my flow. Today your channel popped up, this was your first video about the oil filters. You have now earned another follower :-). Thanks for good work!
If you provide me with an email i can send print screens from the scam!
Brother, I just stumbled across the oil filter video, and this one as well. Awesome information.
I just discovered your channel. Thank you for the last two videos. It's odd that we can become so set in our ways that we miss out on so many important things. Always good to explore and do research on the things we are so sure of. This way a BIG wake up call for me. Excellent presentation.
Excellent info & props for the inspiration on the first vid , will be following you from now on
You're videos are like Forgotten Weapons and John Maxwell had a baby! Great stuff! Keep up the good work.
I'm 68 and loved the video. I have been riding for 55 years. I just bought a Harley tri-glide. I must say my 2023 harley is not as good as mt 21 year old hondas.
you should make more videos... its been 2 years... where'd you go?
i hope Harley Davidson didn't have you assassinated after your oil filter videos...
What an awesome video, my eyes are watering!
Both videos are awesome and eye opening, thank you for the wisdom
Ride on young brother! It’s good to see the younger generation getting what’s really important
