Isolde channels spirits during her opera performances and it doesn't help that her entire family died and since the story is currently in the 1910s she's being treated via electronic shock therapy so yeah 😅
There's actually a theory where there are 3 "Singers"
The people of Vienna trying to prepare for the oncoming storm that will destroy their beloved land
The souls that communicate with her that could not be silenced. They yearn for a way to be saved believing they still have a chance
And lastly, Isolde. She tries to voice out her concern only to be met with one option, to save them by becoming the reason to be saved

Isolde channels the spirits of dead, like the rest of her family who have the natural talent of seance and using it for either prophecy telling OR creating art.
Isolde is an extra special case because instead of just using the channeling for seance performances or fortune telling, she uses it to fit in society on top of being an opera singer.
No one in her family has lived past the age of 40 due to, seemingly, inherited mental illness. And probably work place hazards related to the arts historically. (Most paints and makeups were essentially poison back in the day, so anyone who worked in creative fields was pretty much doomed to health issues or mental illness.)
Her mother killed her father in a fit of, most likely mania and delusion based paranoia, then drowned herself in a pond from grief. Isolde's brother died in a fire, with most of his paintings being burnt except for the one titled The Salvation.
In her character story, we learn before the plot that Isolde was planning to drink tea with arsenic before the start of the plot. However, she had an apppointment with her (admittedly unlicensed therapist) friend and she couldn't quite disappoint her.
...this is everything I'm willing to say without too many spoilers for the main chapter.
There's so much music you haven't yet heard, it'd be nice if you checked out some of the osts and eps that were released for CN! We also have some fan songs that were showcased during a livestream from the reverse 1999 account!

I couldn't really catch the lyrics the first time I listened to this and just absolutely loved the instrumentals. The instrumentals in this just gets me so hyped. Reverse 1999 really goes hard with their EPs~

Ill try to be as spoiler free as possible (sorry it ended up too long. Warning wall of text)
1st the Ouroboros the main story of Reverse 1999 is that someting happens in 1999 which is the reverse. in the game world there are 2 main races of man the Arcanist who follow their insticts and humans who follow their logic and the reverse comes in the form of a strom which pours all over the world and "washes away" the era along with time and the people. The humans cant seem to perceive the irregularities of the world that always occurs before the storm also called storm syndrome that reflects the obsession of the era while the arcanist sees the irregularities of the world like and additional moon in the sky, building collapsing into spalshes of paint etc which drives them insane. And the storm only occurs in turning points of history like the explosion of popularity of pop culture in the 60s, then it "cleanses" that era and resets the world to thw nxt truning point in this case 1929 before the collapse of wall street and the beginning of great depression. If you get "storm'd" in 1960 at the age of 70 when year resets to 1929 there will be no younger version of you. The only path to survival are special tools or buildings that have powerful rituals that can prevent the storm from erasing you. Due to this catastrophic event factions arose. You play as the time keeper of the foundation Vertin who seeks to know the truth that happened in 1999 and who is the only being immune to the storm.Foundation a human supremacists faction that shelters both humans and arcanist and seemingly seeks to prevent the storm and Manus Vindicate an Arcanist supremacists factions that encourages the stoem to wipe out humanity and bring back the golden age when arcanists where revered as gods
2 the possible voices and who they are The woman with long dress is Isolde shes the opera singer, Theophil isoldes brother, a painter, Heinrich a male poet and also opera person an apostle of manus vindictae, Hoffman the female face visible in the background a foundation staff, and kakania the other female in the background with a big hat founder of the circle. Also the other female on stage is marcus the one with the lantern idk if she sings shes also the apprentice of Hoffman.
3rd Why is it nihilist and why they are so "Fcked" in this part of story of reverse. The year reset to 1914 and the turning point of 1914 other than Vienna being the center of culture and arts is that the time is put to a month or less before the outbreak of ww1. Heinrich who's a member of manus after surviving a storm and witnessing the reversal of all of creation and turning back of the worlds year finds himself back to the era where he was still a young artist in Vienna and convinces his art group known as the circle to know about the truth of the world and he brings them to the "Guiding one" in manus who reveals the history of the world(ex ww1 outbreak) which brings them to despair and makes them and theophil end themselves, the only survivors were heinrich who is already insane and Isolde who is a medium. Isolde survives because she doesnt go into despair since she's already living in despair as a Seancer who communes with the dead. She just realized somethings like why there was clouds of "weird" ghosts above vienna from all ages, many children crying saying they were starving(probably ghosts of 1929 storm(when the syndrom turned money as food into peoples eyes so people died by choking on cash or starvation due to literal poverty) ghots with melted bodies like paint(1960 storm turned people onto comics) and etc.
The harmony comes from Isolde and theophil singing together expressing their pity for the world that is doomed to die and the seemingly never ending cycle of the storm (which is turning point > syndrome(suffering and precursor) > storm (cleanse and reset of the world to a later past) rinse and repeat. Why the others harmonize on the nihilism: Madam hoffman was a human survivor of all the 7 previous storms, though she cannot witness the irregularities of the world. She did witness the cleansing of the storm( she saw a colleague walking with her who unfortunately not make it past the foundations main building and within the ritual in time get storm'd leaving only her arm who crossed the threshold with its veins replaced by wires, the storm syndrome was about y2k panic and it turned everyones veins into electrical wires) marcus who was trapped within a lighthouse and had to witness the storms devour the world until she joined the foundation became apprentice to hoffman(something happens in the story that turns her nihilistic), Kakania the founder of the circle who has no clue what Heinrich did and now has to face the self ending of her friends(some truths get revealed to her during the story that changes her outlook). In short they are fcked, they know they are fcked, their life sucks and is really currently sucking harder hence the theme.
