- One of my all time favorite Disney villain anthems, Jonathan Young takes "Hellfire" and brings a metal twist. I was so excited to witness this cover by one of UA-cam's prolific cover artists, known for his Disney and Anime cover songs.
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Jonathan Young for the first time, performing "Hellfire” from Disney's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".

Please react to Billie eilish - happier than ever
I love your reaction
Please check out Annapantsu's version of this song (Hellfire) ❤🤯
She has a female version and a cover, the cover is harder hitting and newer
He has a whole album of villain covers. They're all awesome
Pls react again to dimash.
Jonathon Young is really talented. His cover of "The Bells of Notre Dame" and "In the dark of the night" (Anastasia) are top notch and give me chills every time.
Don't forget his cover of " Be Prepared" epic
@@Demon-ee5bh Oh I haven't. I mean I could list a bunch of his songs which are top-notch (Phantom of the Opera, Friends on the other side, to name a few) but those two I initially listed are the ones that really hit me the hardest.
And The Plagues!
Yes those are two of my favorite
I mean a reaction channel could go for ages just on his disney rock. Would love those and a few others to be reacted to
I love the addition of "Please! Give me sanctuary!" because it's what Quasimodo's mother is screaming at the church doors right before Frollo killed her. Really nice touch adding it to Frollo's song.
Whilst Jonathan is of course not as scary when he isn't playing a role, there's still a certain trend noticable. He and Caleb have sung their way through a lot of what Disney et al have delivered in terms of music and typically, Jonathan is the one who indulges in the villain songs whereas Caleb excells in the more heroic themes.
Perfect example with Caleb doing well with the hero songs is his cover of Go the Distance.
Which is why I find it interesting that in their Savages cover, Jonathan voices the more heroic Chief Powhatan while Caleb voices the more sinister Governor Ratcliffe. They completely flip the script on us with that cover.
Well, Caleb is a tenor and Jonathan is a barritone, I believe? The villain songs are darker in their tone and therefore complement Jonathans voice better, while the hero songs are lighter.
This just makes me want a musical eith Caleb as the hero and Jonathan as the villain.
I think caleb is more theatre teained and jonathan is more metally trained...i didnt look...just guessing
The reason I love the "give me sanctuary scream" hits so hard for me is because thats what Kwasimodos mother is asking for when he kills her, so not only is it super dramatic but it also drives home both his desperation but also his hypocrisy, and I love it.
Take a look at his 'Prince of Egypt' covers. Utterly incredible
They are my absolute favorite!!!
Brooooooo yes!
Especially Plagues, that is probably the best match for a metal cover.
Im seconding this, with 'Plagues' being my favorite
And caleb...... like an adorable teddy bear
In the original: the music dips off after “mine and mine alone” as a guard comes in to inform Frollo that Esmeralda escaped. Then Frollo resolves to burn Paris to find her.
In this one: he starts pleading to Maria, quoting the Lord’s Prayer, and screaming for help as the music crescendos to a stop. And then his inner demon takes control over him as he resolves to burn Paris to find her.
It completely changes the impact of the scene, and I LOVE IT.
My favorite part of his rendition is how he reaches the peak of his distortion at "let her taste the fires of hell" - then pulls back and is basically clean on "or else let her be mine or mine alone". It really shows that, on some level, he really believes his own hypocritical worldview, and genuinely thinks of his claim to Esmerelda as something beautiful and born of love, not even recognizing anything wrong with that.
They don't write Disney movies like they used to.
So many haunting themes and complex philosophies portrayed by some of these villains, it's amazing.
@@nixixim I’m going to stop saying anything nice about old Disney movies if that’s just going to attract comments about how “they don’t write Disney movies like they used to” as if something like Encanto is simple and clean
@@Pablo360able Well, I definitely prefer past Disney, but people saying that Disney is not as good isn’t always the same as claiming they’re not good anymore.
Hunchback of Notre Dom _is_ more complicated, deeper and heart-wrenching than Encanto. That doesn’t mean that Encanto is bad or simple. It is clean, but I don’t understand why that’s automatically a bad thing.
@@j_g9109 I feel like that depends on how you define clean. Generational trauma is some heavy stuff
@@Pablo360ableEncanto was good but that's a one time good film and even that doesn't compare to hunchback of notre dame.
The "Caleb" you're referring to is Caleb Hyles who is indeed a singer as you mention. They pair up on their version of "The Bells of Notre Dame" which I'd love to hear your take on, as well as MANY other collabs between the pair of them.
I'm sure you know but just for folks learning about Caleb from this comment section, his album "In One Breath" is available in full on youtube and spotify and is a phenomenal original composition.
second this
they also team up for a version of crossing the line that surpasses the original.
I am fond of their cover of the prince of egypt "by the power of ra"
His version of "Bells of Notre Dame" is also so haunting and amazing, it would be great if you'd react to it as well!!
Yes and that is one of his collaborations with Caleb Hyles. Love that cover, and this one, and all of them.
I second this. It is still my favourite of all works of Jonathan Young.
I think Bells is probably the highest note I've heard Caleb hold, it's insane at the end how broad his range is
I've been following Jonathan for years and I believe he does everything himself unless otherwise mentioned. :)
Yes, he streams his mixing / planning etc on his twitch channel as well - its great to see the depth of his planning and execution for every song he does and the live decision making that goes into it all.
@@firstlast4312 I didn't know Jonathan streamed on Twitch... thank you so much for mentioning it, followed.
I like how the ad lib at the end, "Give me sanctuary." is a callback to one of the earlier songs, The Belles of Notre Dame, in which Quasimodo's mother is crying out for sanctuary at the doors to Notre Dame Cathedral when she was being pursued by Frollo and is then subsequently killed on the steps
Jonathan is amazing. He does pretty much every instrument himself and a lot of editing as well. He also has his own original music that's totally worth checking out. But as for the covers, he also did Bells of Notre Dame and so many other awesome Disney covers. His Prince of Egypt covers are amazing too.
Yes. I love his work, originals and covers. "Be Prepared" cover by him is another one where he knocks the expressive vocals out of the park
Both versions. His original version is wonderfully grungy and angsty, while the metal one sounds like something out of a God of War game.
Oh my god, yes. A hundred percent madness.
I would really recommend the Metal Cover, the Video is so amazing and just thinking, that he also filmed that himself so not just the DIY Music..
For fits and giggles, there is also the Twisted Translation of "Be prepared" he did with Malinda ua-cam.com/video/wT09O3tqaT4/v-deo.html
He also did Bells of Notre Dame as a Collab with Caleb hyles. That would be another great one to check out!
Caleb's high range compliments and contrasts Johnathan's range so well.
Rock/heavy metal and opera/operatic music themes have such a wonderfully strange and beautiful marriage
"Hellfire" is my go-to audition number, and I cannot imagine going up to an F on "she will burn" after you just got done doing it on a D. Jonathan's range is worthy of envy.
And the best thing is, this cover is actually 2 semitones higher than the original, so the notes here aren't actually D and F, but E and G, which makes it even more impressive.
It really helps where his vocal range is too, being a super low bass makes hitting those in pure chest much harder, but I think Jonathan is in that high bass, low baritone range with a very dramatic timbre in his voice. I, for instance don't have too much issue hitting a high F, maybe even a high G in my chest voice despite being around the same area as Jonathan, but since him and I are both raised on rock and metal I can only guess he grew up singing way out of his own range like I did. I have pushed my range a stupid amount that I probably need to get an instructor to figure out what my actual voice classification is, I am not a tenor, I know that much, I have an E2-F4 chest on any given day, C2-A4 on rare occasion, pushed chest can get me down to A1 and chest fry/subharmonics can get me to C1 and sometimes lower, mix and head voice get me anywhere between D5 and F#5 depending on the day. Based purely on my comfortable chest range I am a bass, but I have heard baritone as well, I am not a trained vocalist so I am not an expert at all. Either way Jonathan's range and just general singing prowess is utterly insane, I am hoping I can get down to a consistent C2 as I age and improve in the same way as him, portraying this kind of emotion is one of the most fun things you can do. Whatever character you are playing or song you are doing, this sort of emotional vocal performance is amazing.
If you want to hear both Jonathan Young and Caleb Hyles together I highly recommend "The Bells of Notre Dame" or "The Other Side"
YES PLS OMG
Their "The Bells of Notre Dame" is just gorgeous!!
My personal favorite is "Playing with the Big Boys"
The plagues!!! Their cover of the prince of Egypt OST is amazing 🤧
The sheer emotion and character that Jonathan put into these performances is what puts his covers over the top for me. If you want some other recommendations Bells of Notre Dame and Be Prepared are exceptional and well worth a watch.
PRINCE OF EGYPT - "Playing With the Big Boys" (METAL cover version)
Elevates the song so much.
@@MascottDeepfriar Playing With the Big Boys has got to be one of my favorite Young/Hyles covers ever.
I love the fact that she gets so excited all throughout the song. Jonathan Young does that to a lot of people
The one thing I very much enjoy about Jonathon Young, is his vast and overwhelmingly powerful grasp of emotion. He seems to be able to command just the right about of anxiety, levels of distraught, rage, or outright fear in ways that I honestly would expect out of a method actor, not a singer.
I'd love to see your reaction to his Prince of Egypt collabs with Caleb Hyles. Playing With the Big Boys is my personal favorite.
I sometimes get in a mood where I will listen to "Deliver Us" on repeat.
The plauges...
@@ikonta169 I listened to The Plagues on repeat for a week, it's amazing
Those boys turn what was a cheesy song in the movie into a menacing, true villain song and I love it so much.
So excited! Charismatic Voice and Jonathon Young. Doesn't get better than this!
Oh, but it can. The Charismatic Voice and Jonathan Young feat. Violet Orlandi.
@@Demon-ee5bh true. Or Lauren Babic. Caleb Hyles would also be pretty brilliant.
My name is Jonathan and people always misspell my name too. The craziest one was Johanathon, sounds Noble though doesn't it
Just kidding got to have some fun love you guys
Dan Vasc is awesome too
One of my favourite parts that wasn't touched upon in this video, is his cries of "Give me sanctuary!" When Frollo killed the Gypsy Woman on the steps of Notre Dame at the start of the movie, those are the words she was crying out.
Speaking of, please check out his version of "Bells of Notre Dame." You'll also get to hear Caleb Hyles! (An incredible vocal chameleon!)
Jonathan Young honestly deserves so much more recognition. He's so good.
He really sells the "man who thought he was righteous but realized he has fallen into sin" that makes Frolo such an amazing character. 10/10 just for the production then another 10 points for the song being a banger. Solid 20 out of 10
Jonathan Young's "Villains" album is -*chef's kiss* A suggestion for something that might pique your interest is Melancholia, by the band Dark Sarah. Each of their albums tells an overarching story of the main character Sarah, and the latest album is about a character named Luna, with a surprising connection to the original stories. I think you'll really enjoy it!
I've had his Villains album on repeat for the last week, almost nonstop. I only just started mixing other covers of his into the mix today. Haha.
I haven't heard of Dark Sarah, so I'm gonna follow your suggestion and listen to Melancholia after this video.
@@platinum_noelle I'd be interested to know what you think! :)
@@eastcoastoverseer it sent me down a deep rabbit hole of symphonic metal lmao
@@platinum_noelle Glad to hear! It amazed me that all of the albums told one giant connected story, it was an incredible journey to follow along and i'm excited to see what the future holds!
The more I see professionals critique Jonathan's music the more I'm convinced he is the apex of singing talent.
Absolutely!
His cover of "Poor unfortunate souls" is one of my favorites, he has an entire album of disney villian songs
If you want a happier side of him, have a look at his rendition of the first Pokémon intro, featuring the original singer at the same time.
There's another song that's just too good to pass up despite the sadness it carries, named Unravel, both by TK from Ling Toshite Shigure, and its translated rendition by Jonathan Young.
Yes! The pokemon theme is awesome! Flying tie! 🤩
His cover of Unravel is absolutely amazing, still gives me chills hearing that even years after he released it.
the attack on Titan cover also awesome
Oh my god, that cover gave me SUCH goosebumps it was amazing
Jon did an awesome job highlighting just how creepy and dangerous Frollo really would have been as a real person. Thanks for looking at his work, it was great to see your impressions of one of his best covers! If you want some more great UA-cam artists, there's a collab on Caleb Hyles' channel 'The Wellerman Collab' which itself is great, and can also lead you to more great artists like PelleK, NateWantsToBattle, and of course Anthony Vincent :D
PLEASE do "Be Prepared" by him. It's Scar's song from Lion King and he does SUCH a good job of portraying scars insanity also!!!
I agree. One of my faves of his. Also for anyone who likes anime songs, he covers the pokemon theme WITH the original singer which is pretty awesome.
JY is god tier UA-cam. Loved him for years.
I listen to his One Punch Man cover several times a week since it came out. His Pokemon cover makes me 10 years old again. His voice is powerful and beautiful.
I highly recommend his cover of "deliver us" from Prince of Egypt with I believe his name is Caleb Hayes. It is absolutely FANTASTICALLY EPIC
That one and the plagues. Where it's Moses and Ramses going back and forth is fantastic!
Caleb Hyles
Omg yessss. His hunchback is amazing as well as most of his collaborations with Caleb Hyles!
Just recommended the prince of Egypt covers :')
@@joe94c if they EVER remade that movie (or Hunchback) I would petition the both of them to do the music with a PASSION.
This is almost like a metal opera. Went to see this 2 years ago in Finnish theater that was ALOT more tame. This really feels more capturing. Awesome rendition!
You might like his Phantom of the Opera cover.
@@anib8863 Thanks, I'll check it out.
Jonathan's album (as Galactickraken) "Starship Velociraptor" is great fun, and has taken up almost permanent residence in my vehicle's stereo.
Jonathan is one of the people who started me off on my musical UA-cam journey. It's awesome you're going down that path!
I have been waiting to see Jonathan Young on this channel for a LONG Time!! His voice has such a wide range and his covers have SOOOO MUCH more emotion than most of the original!
He is very versatile. He started more with pop rock and overtime it has gotten a lot harder. My kids absolutely love his stuff.
The Caleb you mentioned is Caleb Hyles. He's also very good. Jonathan plays a lot of different instruments, so he was likely heavily involved.
You should check out more.
PS...
Jonathan also has an entire album of Disney villain songs.
Love the original song. Judge Claude Frollo is such a real villain. Someone that you can see existing. It’s the reason he’s so menacing. This version’s dark timbre adds a grit to it that I love. It’s hard to say which I love more as the original will always hold a place in my heart. I love Hunchback! Great review as always!!
It's awesome that you're checking this cover out!
For what it's worth, I think you should try his cover of Phantom of the Opera. His version is so far superior to the original cast recording that it's ridiculous.
YESSSS
Please do more Jonathan Young, especially his covers of “Zombie” or “Breaking the habit”. Both fantastic
his breaking the habit is just gorgeous
His newest Linkin Park cover with Lauren Babic just SLAPS.
@@drumlord8772 yeah, another banger
hehe his own songs are freaking awesome too! I love final frontier!
Jonathan Young is one of my favorite artists. His covers of so many songs are amazing. Even though he doesn't always write his own. He takes songs and makes them his own, while staying as close as possible to the original.
"Be Prepared" is probably my favourite Disney cover of Jonathan's. Truly Epic
he seems truly unhinged in that, it was perfect
Repeating "give me sanctuary" is a cool in universe reference to Quasimodo's mom
Love the fact your actually doing Jonathan Young. I hope you do more of him in the future. His covers are great but his OG stuff also brilliant. Maybe if you would please check out Anthony Vincent.
Anthony Vincent and Violet Orlandi's cover of A7X's A Little Piece of Heaven in the style of Phantom of the Opera would be amazing
I must admit I did not know this song or performer; OMFG, I had goosebumps so many times through this performance - thanks for enlightening me, WOW
His rendition to Be Prepared is also one of his greatest songs. A few others that you may love is Shiney - Moana. bells of Notre Dam, and Greatest Showman. They are all very fantastic and well produced.
Hi Elizabeth, this is my first time listening to this song/artist, and this performance was amazing. The dark aggression in Hellfire is perfect for Metal, and Jonathan's voice is the incarnation of Disney's villains. I look forward to more reactions/performances from Jonathan. Thank you, Elizabeth!!! 💙
with how much you enjoyed this, you would love his cover of "Be Prepared" from the Lion King, particularly the more recent 2019 version. it is on the level of this video in terms of how well he sorta crawls into the characters head and lays every last bit of emotion and madness in his performance, in a way that just haunts the viewer.
also his collab with Caleb Hyles on The Bells of Notre Dame is pure fire, as well as their many collaborations on covers of the Prince of Egypt soundtrack
00
Oh man, I wish you'd revisit Jonathan Young and his amazing Disney covers. I'm be happy to see your reaction to all his covers and also his original works.
I could tell, as soon as he started singing, that she was experiencing extreme pleasure of the ears.
I like this one a lot, but I actually prefer his "Be Prepared" cover. It's... honestly amazing.
Another great cover of Hellfire is done by Tomi P. If you want a stupidly deep bass sound, check him out.
His voice is better for be prepared, but then again I'm very attached to this Disney movie and I generally don't like covers of this song. I feel the same way about friends on the other side from the princess and the frog I havent found a single good cover of that song
Hi Elizabeth! Thanks for reacting to Jonathon Young, he's a remarkable and prolific artist, and I'm glad you enjoyed this video! A couple of things that you wondered about during the video:
Jon is a multi-instrumentalist. He plays guitar, keyboard, bass and drums, and I believe he usually plays all the instruments on his songs, unless otherwise mentioned. He has a group of other UA-camr friends that he collabs with quite often, including Caleb Hyles whom you mentioned (and whom you should definitely check out - he has a fantastic voice and also has done a lot of covers of Disney songs, pop songs, and much more), as well as RichaadEB and FamilyJules, who are both guitarists who do a lot of video game covers. The four of them together have done an INCREDIBLE set of eurobeat covers in a power metal style, which I cannot recommend highly enough. Even if you don't post reactions, you should give them a look just because they're so much fun. They're on RichaadEB's channel.
Jon has also branched out into original music, as well as his covers of all sorts of things. If you want to hear him singing his own composition, I'd recommend Echo Chamber, or Land of Broken Dreams. Have a great day!
I'm so happy that you've finally reacted to Jonathan Young! He's been one of my favorite singers on UA-cam for years now, and I'm so sad that he doesn't get more attention from reactors like you. You definitely need to follow up with his cover of The Bells of Notre Dame, I feel like. That's one of his collaborations with Caleb Hyles, and they do some great work together. Their cover of Wolf in Sheep's Clothing is INTENSE. Though, I'm happy to say that Jonathan is now putting a lot of energy into shifting to more original works, and his song Land of the Living is amazing. I'd love for you to react to it.
At times, I get the feeling that if you had a tail you'd be wagging it like crazy - you show just pure, unrestrained delight in music, and your enthusiasm is so infectious.
Soo happy you finally did a Johnathn Young song. He does a lot of covers with Caleb Hyles as well. I would love to see you do Johnathans cover of "The One Punch Man" opening.
He does most of the production himself as far as I know
Jonathan Young has such an amazing voice, I love his versions of Disney songs. He puts so much energy and emotion into them all, and of course his voice, the instruments, it's great.
To answer some questions:
Jonathan does all of his own arranging from what I've seen He specifically went to school for that.
Caleb is a fellow singer, normally doesn't do as much arrangement.
You should look into Jonathan's originals as well, because he puts even more into them.
Hell yeah! Jonathan Young is one of my favorite metal artists! His covers and originals are both amazing and worth looking into. The artist he frequently collabs with that you alluded to is named Caleb Hyles, and he is an incredible signer as well. On a rather topical note, they actually teamed up to do a similarly awesome cover of "The Bells of Notre Dame" (would strongly recommend this one as a great way to see a bit of Caleb and more of Jonathan Young). I would definitely recommend diving deeper into both of them! 😉
I'm super thrilled ✨ you're listening to Jonathan Young!!! His covers are awesome. 😀
One of my most favourite of his is "UNRAVEL" from the anime Tokyo Ghoul 🔥❤️
Would love to see more reactions to Jonathan Young, dude is amazing and hardly anyone reacts to him
I love that you referenced how his technique has a little "Ronnie" in it.
Absolutely legendary influence on power metal Ronnie had, and Jonathan Young really slays his own renditions of that power metal technique.
He has a bunch of metal Disney villain covers, you should check out more of them.
His cover of 'The Sound Of Silence' is my personal favorite!
Jonathan Young and Caleb Hyles cover of
PRINCE OF EGYPT - "Playing With the Big Boys" (METAL cover version)
Is a true work of art.
I recommend checking out his original stuff as well - "Jet Pack Race" and "Final Frontier" both got me choked up (for different reasons), excellent songs.
My favorite Jonathan cover is still "friends on the other side" but "Hellfire" is a close second. All of his work is great.
You've got to do bells of notre dame by him and caleb hyles
I found Jonathan first but The Bells got me to Caleb & I am so impressed with their collabs as well as his solo work. I especially love his Steven Universe cover work!
Very much need to do Bells of Notre Dame
I love that I was just rewatching JoYo's villain compilation and thinging: "Hey, it would be awesome if Elizabeth did a reaction to one of those." and two days later I see that.
Love the reaction and the analysis.
This is the best version of this song, original or otherwise. I really get the sense he’s tortured and tormented, and trying to convince himself he’s not to blame. And the tears at the end are just genius.
I love Jonathan Young so much! I honestly can't recommend his stuff more! Some of my favorites by him are "In the Dark of the Night", "Bells of Notre Dame", "Friends on the Other Side", "Playing with the big boys now", "poor unfortunate souls , and "you're gonna go far kid".
Also for something very different, his version of "Be Our Guest" is super fun and phenomenal.
Seriously it's hard to go wrong with him and Caleb, they are both fantastic!
Well, Mrs. Z, no one embodies the wholesome beauty, charm, and intellectual curiosity of a Disney princess like you; and no one channels the snarling, maniacal evil of a Disney villain like Mr. Young here. They also say that the best villains are mirror images of the heroes and Mr. Young is ridiculously talented, absurdly prolific, has an amazingly expressive face, and seems super likable. Hmmm, how can this not be awesome? I hope this video does well, because I would love to see you not only check more JY, but also other amazing UA-cam artists like Dan Vasc, Violet Orlandi, and Skar
Also, and I hate making requests because I know you're swimming in them, but Halloween is approaching, and Mr. Young has an AMAZING version of Oogie Boogie song. I know Geoff and Voiceplay already crushed that song, but you must react to JY's version. Geoff was creepy and fun as the character, Jonathan Young is intense and absolutely terrifying!
So, now I want you to look at / listen to the "Hellfire" cover of Violet Orlandi. Me, being a Disney nerd had that on my YT front page and I loved it so much and now I'm just in love with everything she does. Then I found Halocene cause of Violet and then I found Jonathon cause of Halocene. I'm having a moment watching this reaction of his "Hellfire" cover :D
Lisa keep going down the collab rabbit hole with Violet, Halocene, Malinda Reese and Jonathan. They have introduced me to so many other YT Artists they are incredible
i love your reaction. at first you didn't know what to expect and not to offend, but the look in your eyes was almost that of a princess being courted by a nat 20 charisma check, the eyes expressive, facination, almost being courted on the backfoot, so much focus on so many things you aren't ready for
and the second time around you giggle like a nerd at so many places it's super cute XD. i love these reactions, getting a technical look at these artists while still enjoying the medium
Jonathan arranges everything himself I'm fairly sure, he sometimes livestreams the process on his twitch, Caleb Hayes is another youtube cover singer who is also awesome! They've collabed a bunch of times ^_^
His original album is fire
All of his Disney covers are great. Let It Go is super fun. Also, his cover of Your Gonna Go Far Kid with Lauren Babic is epic.
The Bells of Notre Dame is how I got into Jonathan Young. His non-Disney covers are also awesome. And if you like magical and mystical music, check out AURI - Pearl Diving. Johanna Kurkela is an amazing vocalist, I think you will love her.
Seconding Auri! Especially since Tuomas of Nightwish is involved.
I have been a huge fan of Jonathan Young for many years now and I always love his versions better than the originals so it makes me happy that someone with your knowledge thinks about it the same way.
So glad you're finally dipping your toes into the HCU, I look forward to seeing you climb down this rabbithole :)
Even if you don't react to it, you really, really, really need to check out the cover of this song that Tomi P. does. Its an amazing rendition and his vocal talent is absolutely crazy. Think Peter Hollens, but with a 6 octave range.
I have heard a lot about Tomi P., and he's on my list now!
@@TheCharismaticVoice from what i've seen you get excited about in other videos you're going to absolutely love his work. His cover of Hellfire is definitely the best place to start by far. It showcases his range extremely well. He definitely deserves a lot more press than he gets as well. Thanks for the response and keep up the good work.
@@TheCharismaticVoice Great to hear that! I‘ve been recommending his work for months😄👍🏻
@@TheCharismaticVoice Happy to hear! He's got excellent talent! His hellfire cover is jaw dropping, I also recommend it as a starting place as it blew his earlier productions out of the water!
@@jmbmusic1 And maybe from there she'll react to the rest of the Bass Gang. I really want to see her react to them as a group and as individuals, especially Peter's covers of 'Creep' and 'Change on the Rise'. Fingers crossed!
He really nails the twisted and hipocritical personality of the character in this song. A person who thinks he's better and who's supposed to be above "earthly" desires but falls into fanatical love with a woman and has always been ruled by them without realizing that.
honestly this song fits super well with a darker metal vibe like this
that added monologue part was actually pretty crazy, like the guy is almost having a moment of clarity like am i really doing this? yea im doing it
I recommended this a while ago but seriously, Jonathan Young did a song with Peter Hollens called "Rains of Castamere"... its fantastic. You should give it a listen!
From Game of Thrones
In addition to the other Jonathan Young recommendations, check out his three Phantom of the Opera covers with Melinda K Reese. They are amazing together!
Jonathan young is not just a singer, but one hell of an actor as well. He really pulls you into his music.
Your eyes tells us how excited you are doing something that you love, have you done his rendition of Deliver us with Caleb
Of his music, the ones I would recommend most are his cover of Be Prepared (the most recent one), as well as his collab with Peter Hollens for Rains of Castamere. For Rains of Castamere, theres a metal version on Jonathan's channel and an a capella version on Peter's, and I would recommend listening to the a capella version. Or you could put them both in the same video, since they're very similar. Love the reactions 👍
Fun fact- The Gypsy Dancer in this video I believe is Malinda Reese, another fantastic singer/youtuber, they did some Phantom of the Opera together. Also his "Be Prepared" video (The May 2019 one) is incredible, it'll kick you right in the shivers!
His cover of "Every time we touch" is awesome too
I felt the same way when I first heard him do Be Prepared from the Lion King. I was so bummed his version didn't make the live action version when it came out 😢
can't wait for her reaction to his version of Phantom of the Opera ;3
I'm so happy you found Jonathan Young! I absolutely love his covers. my favorite Disney song as a kid was "In the Dark of the Night" from Anastasia. I loved how creepy and dark it sounded(i guess i was a messed up kid lol) and Jonathan does a fantastic cover of that as well.
Gosh. Never heard of this guy until today. Just watched a cover of My Heart Will Go On. 🤯🔥
"Bells of Notre Dame" should be your next. It has both Jonathan and Caleb singing in it. You wont be disappointed.
I would love to see more reactions on Jonathan Young! He has some excellent covers on some of the songs. His "Be Prepared" has two renditions. I recommend the newest one he did because it adds a personality twist on scar that was not in the original and I think it really makes it better. He does good covers of "Playing with the Big Boys" (Prince of Egypt), "In the dark of the Night" (Anastasia) and "Poor Unfortunate Souls" (The Little Mermaid).
I love the fact you actually take your time to restart the video all over again, these kinds of songs go by so fast, there's so much going on. Anyone who pretends it got all the meaning, all the emotion behind the music on it's first time watching it's most likely just pretending.
Jonathan Young is a seriously beautiful singer his control is astounding especially I his collab with Caleb Hiles "The Bells of Notre Dame" it literally is what made me watch The Hunchback of Notre Dame for the first time! Both are astounding singers, but all of Jonathan Youngs villan covers are seriously next level! I hope you watch more of him in the future especially his "Bells of Notre Dame" and "Poor Unfortunate Souls".
