Always look forward to your demos and reviews, Anton. Since I know you're a big fan of Earthworks, I am very curious to hear your thoughts on their newest affordable SR117.

I miss my 104+. Had to sell it. 350 which is cheap if you consider how rarely they come up. Interesting experiment Mr. Browne. If you'd do it in pro tools you'd get closer. But there is also the pickup pattern. And I believe that works differently under every angle.
The earthworks is really good but it's also very expensive.

    Bonjour.
    Amicalement.

Hi, I don't know where the sound comes out on an accordion, I suspect from quite a wide area. If so, a cardioid mic may be best as it will cover a slightly wider area than hyper/supercardiod mics. I immediately think of the Earthworks SR314, it is detailed and fairly flat in respose though its low-end response may not be required but you can cut it if needed - it is expensive, however. The Earthworks Ethos may well be suitable and is less expensive. You might consider using two sE V7s or V7Xs and positioning them to give good coverage, two of them will cost less than a single Earthworks mic and you can get a bracket that supports two mics on one stand. I might be inclined to look at this first. Just my thoughts but I'm not familiar with the lovely accordian and how it projects its sound. Good luck.
