    Firstly, I never get bored with your videos. Secondly and thereafter, I find your videos highly educational and practical. I read the manuals and haven’t worked side by side in a garage with a professional mechanic since my Dad passed years ago. So, I learn major tips by watching and listening. Your videos are absolutely essential for working on the older Harley’s. U-Tube knows where to put the commercials right at critical info moments. Thanks for posting Mike.

    Velva Touch!! Good stuff. I had a set in my 76 shovel that I took out last year and sent them in to have them refurbished and brought up to modern standards. David over there got them back to me and they are essentially all new. Shovel wheels since I am still using a shovel cam, but oiling up pushrods since I'll be using s&s roller rockers.

    • @pacificmike9501
      @pacificmike9501  Рік тому +3

      It depends on the fastener. Does it show? Is it chrome? Do you have high quality tools that actually fit? Box end is a good grip, not always a good idea. I worked on customer's bikes for many years. Scratches and rounded corners are not permitted.

    • @pacificmike9501
      @pacificmike9501  Рік тому +4

      I've shown how to install then on several videos. Fresh O-Rings and flexible stainless steel clamps are what I always recommend. If you look at whatever catalogs you use, S&S supplies really nice aircraft style clamps that I always use. Much better than "hard" clamps. A little expensive, but well worth it.

    • @lionelscott5839
      @lionelscott5839 Рік тому +2

      I have discovered that the space in which the o rings occupy must be 0.025 inches narrower than the thickness of the o ring which I measured to be o.212 inches so space should be 0.187 .this will insure o ring maintains sufficient contact with head and manifold to prevent air leak when engine is hot and space 0.187 increases due to cylinders moving away from manifold.

    • @pacificmike9501
      @pacificmike9501  Рік тому +2

      I understand. For me? Depends on the motor. Shovelhead top ends grow so much with all the heat they make that the solids end up with too much clearance and are too noisy for me. In the Knuckle or Pan, solids rule.

      I don't know what you're trying to do. The Evo and the Shovelhead are two different motors. Mixing them together is not going to gain anything for you. The different motors that Harley has produced, all have different running characteristics. I prefer to enjoy the different motors for what each one is. Ah, the angle of dangle gives length to the shove,
    for the arms on the rockers are not quite above,
    & the line of the lifters goes somewhere else too,
    so the balls in their sockets must all boogaloo . . .
    But that's what you get with your cams in the pantry,
    & running your valves through an overhead gantry,
    'cos lifters want valve stems as straight as they are,
    for a nice easy lift & without reaching too far.
    Flatheads, of course, lose this clattering chore,
    by keeping their valves in a barrel next door . . .
    Torque about simplicity . . . Being simple, I often do : )

      First off, what is the motor and what are the lifters. I've seen hydraulic lifters defeated because the guy wanted solids. If the pushrods won't turn, the valves are too tight I'd say a "fact finding mission is in order." I'd want to be inspecting some parts.
