    I appreciate your input and the time you took to make this video. I've used the Sony FS7 since it became available and I have NEVER experienced the card issues you are having, which makes me wonder if you received counterfeit cards. I'd also add that some of us want and need the larger file sizes that this camera produces and the extra detail it provides within the video. Many of us use an Atomos recorder that produces even larger files with more detail. The Atomos recorders also lessen the need for expensive XQD cards by allowing the use of cheaper SSD media. I'm sorry your experience with these cameras has been so negative. Despite some of the issues with color and the confusing menu system, they have been rock solid for me for 10 years!

    Guys, it's not the camera. These cameras were and ARE STILL used in MANY productions around the world. IT'S THE CARDS. It's the only variable in your story that was constant. You never mentioned buying new cards or trying different cards. You used the same exact cards on two separate cameras and got card error messages for BOTH. How is it not the cards? What would make you think it was the cameras?

      We have the same problem with Sony ENG news cameras. It must be a Sony thing. We use different cards from the FS cameras.

      It’s impossible for it to be anything other than the cards. Using the same cards in 2 different cameras and getting the exact same problem is definitely an indication of the card being the issue. What makes your FS7s so much more special than anyone else’s? People are still using these cameras to this day to make award winning films. If they weren’t meant to last, how is this possible?

    I hate that you’ve had these issues. I’ve had an FS7 for 9 years, and I still make my living with it every day. I have an FS5 as well, and I like it, but the 7 is my workhorse.

    These issues sound like user error if you are getting the same problem in both cameras.
    The FS7 was the third most used camera in the documentary category for films screened at Sundance 2024. It is still a top-notch tool in the hands of world-class filmmakers.
    It continues to make 10x - 100x in ROI for commercial videographers, and is still requested by UK, EU, and US based producers for its reliability.

    Bought a FS7 this year, none of these issues have occurred for me. Love the 180 fps S&Q.

    Yes you most likely got bad cards. I've purchased knock off cards before, all they need to do is put a Sony sticker on them and it looks like the real deal. The Restore is a normal everyday usage, Sony does some housekeeping on its own and it doesn't destroy your media in anyway.

    You seem to find an issue in everything. Fs7 is a majestic camera and no review will ever take it's crown away. Still on the netflix approved cameras btw after 15 years of being released! That tells you something!

    Regardless of the possible card problems here, the objections with file size, power draw and bulk when compared to the FS5 are legit arguments.

    • @elverdaderojavier
      @elverdaderojavier 3 місяці тому

      They are legit arguments but they are also things you would consider before buying the camera. In other words, they're not surprises. You know about these things beforehand and you choose to buy the camera because they're not a problem for the things you do and the way you work.

    Wow, Sorry to hear you had so many problems with your FS7,,,,, I own a Sony FS7Mk2 , Bought it used last year from a Cinema Rental House, and I too don't like the XQD memory cards, the constant formatting and error codes do happen, so I did a work around, in that I bought a BlackMagic Video Assist, Monitor/Recorder, it only has one Slot, though I record directly to an SD Card..., No issues with the SD card, just need to get cards that are 128GB and greater........ These used Cameras can be a crap soot, I also Bought a Sony FS5 last year, and it was a Lemon, I returned it to the Store in New Jersey that I got it from, Ebay Sale....Things happen, though I feel you could have bypassed the XQD cards and got an external recorder with SD cards , and that solves at least that problem..... Hope you have better luck with your next purchase..........

    you just need to reset the fs7 several times, then wash the previous setup in the memory.

    Oh please 😅😂 you made this video just to talk about your faulty card or camera?? Please do yourself a favor? DELETE THIS VIDEO? IT'S EMBARRASSING AND YOU'RE UNDERMINING YOURSELF. The fs7 has proven to be a real deal for years. Infact even the fx9 nor fx6 or fx3 has yet achieved the same level of wide usage. Sorry to hear that you bought faulty stuff.

    This is not a review of the fs7, this is you complaining about a niche issue that likely your camera, cards, or card reader is having. Not helpful to anyone

    The FS7 was a great camera in it's day...but dang. The image sensor is VERY old by today's standards. It dates all the way back to the original Sony FS700. Today's Sony Super35/APS-C BSI sensor in the FX30 and A6700 completely destroys that old sensor. The FS7 can't even compete in image quality with the 4k oversampled FX30....it's not even close.

    • @noBfilm
      @noBfilm 5 місяців тому +3

      in which regards the sensor of the FX30 is so much better? dynamic range? FS7 got 12.5 stops of usable range, it does 4k 60p, and when shooting with SLOG3, it can deliver good colors - with more work in CC, while FX30 got the nice colors OOC. its still a very capable camera for shooting a documentary, don't get fooled by newer tech

      What you say doesn't macht to what I experience. I own both. The FS7 MK2 and the FX 30. They mach very well and the FS7 is a great workhorse. I never had any issue.

    • @sixofsix
      @sixofsix 4 місяці тому +1

      You are clearly someone who is easily whooed by the latest tech. I own the Sony F3 F55 FS5 FS7 and yes your highly coveted FX30. Guess what. They ALL shoot great video, and I am being fully honest when I say that my favorite image out of all these cameras is the F3, which just so happens to be the oldest tech out of ALL the aforementioned offerings. BTW I also have other cameras from the same manufacturer as well like a6300 a6400 a7iii. Still, none compare to the image of the F3. In addition, I also shoot on the original C300 as well, and once again imo, the image coming out of the C300 is also very capable. I can run it alongside an FX30 easily, and once again, imo, the colors on the original C300 are BETTER than the FX30. The FX30 is GREAT, don't think I'm saying it's not. What I am saying is if you can't create something amazing on an FS7, you won't be able to magically create a masterpiece just because you use an FX30.

    • @babbishm
      @babbishm 3 місяці тому +1

      FS7 will get you more dynamic range than FX30 when shooting SLOG3. FX30 is indeed sharper than FS7, but with skintone in interview settings, you don't necessarily want that every time.

    • @sixofsix
      @sixofsix 3 місяці тому +1

      @@babbishm He clearly has not seen the F3 or F5/F55. Sensor age is irrelevant.
