Absolutely agreed, as is Sonic x Blaze.
Sonic isn't interested in Amy. It's pretty much canon that he thinks more highly of Tails (not in a romantic way only platonically) than Amy. All he does is like the chase.
However these two fit together perfectly. Shadow's very masculine, alpha male, perfect for a very feminine girl such as Amy. This comic is very in-character because Shadow is more professional in behaviour to the rest of the characters. I think Amy could help Shadow gradually get less formal and make him come out of his shell more. He needs that. Both characters are a great contrast to each other, they could learn a lot from each other.
