    Thanks for the video.
    My sealing ring won't slide inside the track once it's properly installed though, but my IP (Duo7in1) is fairly new and maybe that makes a difference.
    It also wasn't as easy to get out or in as yours. Was yours warm perhaps rather than room temp, especially because I noticed yours appears floppier and more supple than mine? Or does that happen as it gets older too?

      Your lid should come with a clear silicone sealing ring that is preinstalled. The first couple of times it may be a little tricky getting it properly seated, but after that it should be easy to install.

    How do you know weather you need to wash or replace?

    • @InstantPotOfficial
      @InstantPotOfficial  Рік тому

      Hi Liz. The sealing ring usually needs to be replaced every 8-12 months depending on use. The best way to know if you need to replace your ring is to perform the Initial Test run(Water Test) that you can find in the manual. If there is any steam leaking from the sides of the lid or the pot is not coming to pressure, we suggest replacing the ring.

      Thanks for the question! You can replace the sealing rings sooner than 2-3 years. If you're noticing lingering odors from the ring that you're unable to remove, or if you believe your Instant Pot isn't sealing properly, you may want to replace your ring. Is it necessary to keep the sealing ring in the lid if I am going to make yogurt in my duo nova instant pot? My sister's say the sealing ring is not needed when making yogurt. Please
    let me know if this true

    • @InstantPotOfficial
      @InstantPotOfficial  4 роки тому

      Yogurt is not a pressure function so you don't need the seal. In fact, you can just cover it with a glass lid or even a dinner plate.

    Last night I cooked corned beef and cabbage, 1st time using a Instant a brand new Pot Duo Nova, then cleaned/scrubbed/soaked all the rubber parts in Dawn/hot water. That took a lot of the smell out, but still smelled. So, the next day I noticed a video and tried what they suggested. Still smells like corned beef and cabbage. I did change up your recipe a little. I did 2 cups of white vinegar and one whole lemon sliced up then did the steam thing for 3 minutes with the natural steam release. Still smells. Help!!!

    • @InstantPotOfficial
      @InstantPotOfficial  4 роки тому

      Silicone does hold odors. Many people have one ring for savory and one for sweet. Storing the lid upside so it can air out also helps. Some people swear by putting it in a low oven, others hang it out in the sun.

    • @dougharlow6037
      @dougharlow6037 4 роки тому

      @@InstantPotOfficial First, thanks for the reply. I tried once more to remove the smell off the rubber parts (3rd time}. I used hot water, vinegar and lemon in a tub and let them soak all night. After rinsing them off, they still stunk up the whole kitchen?? Now the rubber ring is setting outside. This is my 1st instant pot Duo Nova and the pot seems to work OK, but the smell is not acceptable. And to me it seems way too much effort to keep the pot rubber parts not to stink. This should be an easy task.

      Under normal conditions it should be fine for 18 - 24 months. If you notice cracks, leaking or deformation in the sealing ring, it should be replaced immediately. However, the sealing ring is porous and may absorb odors and become discolored. To avoid discoloration and odors, you may wish to change the sealing ring every 6 - 12 months.
