I probably would have kept the rim for a lid to sit on top of. Bettas like to jump so you might want to add something on top to block him. Also, with smaller tanks the water evaporates super fast. I love the way rimless tanks look though, it's a bummer.
@@googlereviewguy7574 Not really. Based off the video, it definitely appears that he has experience with raising fish. From everything I have seen, everything he is doing is the minimum for Betta fish. He obviously cares for this fish and wants it to have a better life.
At 3:01 he does mention that he asked his girlfriend if he could get Jeff a 5 gallon but she said she wanted a smaller tank so that leads me to believe they DID talk about it, she's not completely unawares. You don't know what happens behind the scenes
i got a beta hammock for my fish and he LOVES it! its a little leaf on a suction cup. when his light goes off at night he goes to it, and when his light goes on in the morning he gets out of bed and gets excited for breakfast! so adorable
I'm agreeing with the bf on this one. I'm an avid aquarium keeper. No way could I watch my man put a beta in a small bowl when I got mad skills?! Nah, his pet would def get an upgrade 🤷🏾♀️
this is hilarious *girlfriend doesn't tell you about fish because she thinks you will be over bearing *probably just want a super simple setup that nice to look at *goes out of town "hmmm, well I guess its time to fix her stupid set up" lol nice
Ironically I paused the video right after he said she had said she didn't want his input or to do it "on her own" and I jokingly said "time to change it up" -as a joke and when I hit play you literally did just that... I think as I said above you had good intentions but you really should have involved her and let her pick her own decorations and setup and just given advice. :s this felt wrong start to finish even with good intentions
@@indiestripper5374 yeah but if it was my Fiance, she would of been mad I did it without her involvement lol. Good intentions, but women also appreciate consideration, Js
@@reggaemortis4117 umm the fish can get streessed and die in that small vase or get fin rot without a filter bettas need at least 2.5 gallon tank not a vase
He was doing it for the good of the fish. He respects her opinion, but he knows he needs to do whats right to keep the fish from an early death, which would also hurt her when the fish died early. When taken care of right, these fish can live many, many years if cared for right!
there's a difference between disrespecting your girlfriend and literally saving her pet from an unhappy life and most likely increasing jeff's lifespan so she can enjoy him for years to come
Yup!!! I planned on getting 1 betta with a small tank about the size of the fishbowl but then I realized no. That's way too small so I went with a 5 gallon one, if I were a fish I'd want to have plenty of room to swim around In
Fr, she straight up said "I don't want a bigger tank right now. Please don't mess with it." I'd be mad if I said that and had my SO start changing what I said to not mess with. Especially when it comes to my animals.
Eclipsar It’s not what the owner wants, it’s what the fish NEEDS. If your SO is treating an animal poorly, you should definitely show them how to better care for it.
@@cg_eclipsar8041 An actual life is more important than your decorations. If you want a tiny tank just make an aquatic plant one! they're beautiful and you dont have to put fish in them. Animals are animals before they are pets
If your girlfriend wanted decor she should've just bought a plant. I got so mad when you said that you mentioned wanting to get Jeff a five gallon and she refused. I just can't imagine someone picking aesthetics over the quality of life of an animal in their care. They aren't decorations; they're living beings.
I agree that bettas have preferences, my old betta loved bloodworms but my new one prefers shrimp and pellets! But despite preferences, keeping any fish in a vase is neglect and is extremely unhealthy for the fish, five gallons should be bare minimum. If they seem to be thriving after a long time, that’s great! But really, no matter what they prefer, this is not preference- this is ignoring the betta’s needs.
Devyn it may not have been completely about aesthetics. She may not be able to cope with a large tank for whatever reason, or may not have space for it. The tank he put it in is ok for one fish. Yeah a larger one would be nice for him but that’s like saying it would be nice to live in a mansion instead of a flat - you have enough room in the flat but a mansion would still be very nice if someone were to just give it to you. Then again you may get the mansion and feel like a marble in a cello. As long as he’s out of that pokey little bedsit (vase) that is what matters.
While i do not agree with anyone mistreating fish or any animal, if you're going to piss and moan don't fucking buy them, leave them in the oceans ponds rivers seas or where the fuck they came from.
Here In Sweden it's illegal to keep fish in bowls and vases. Swedish laws requires bigger water volume and at least one side of the tank has to be hidden from looking in and out with a poster, spray paint or other things. U did the right thing to give the betta a more appropriate home.
Keeping bettas in bowls is also prohibited in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. They recommend a minimum of 54 liters (or 60x30x30cm) for adult fish. It provides enough space to have a happy fish.
AquaLars FishNShrimps That law should be worldwide! Sweden is on point with their animal laws (been saying this for years when I was researching about dogs) if every country could take notes on the humane treatment of animals by Sweden, that would be great! there wouldn't be kids wanting a pretty little fish no more just bc it's cheap and takes up very little space, adults would think "no screw that, big tanks are out the question" the only reason why so many are used, abused and treated as a commodity, is bc of how tiny and inhumane set up you can purchase for it, one of the biggest myths for bettas!!
Omg this comment section is a mess, imagine telling someone to break up because of a fish tank size. You all are way to sensitive to be in a real relationship with a real person, we're all flawed. Nobody makes perfect choices all the time and if you want a perfect person you're going to be single forever!.
Honestly I have done the same thing. You think since they're in those small cups at the pet store you're giving them a nice upgrade especially when the so called "animal experts" show you the Betta tanks the same size. People seem to prefer judging than offering kind advice.
You shouldn't be in a relationship in the first place...most relationships don't last and people end up with brokenness and even trauma...on top of that a person is sinning against God: fornicating...heaping wrath until the day of God's judgment.
@@iWh15tl3 😳 But I thought this vid was about fish? Let me rewind it so I can see when he actually "fornicated" with his gf whose in London...Obviously I missed something 🤔
Years ago before UA-cam fish videos, I kept my Betta in a bowl having no idea how bad it was for him. I can't believe he lived a year and a half. I just brought home a new Betta boy to a rimless 21 gallon long aquarium. He loves the space. Live, learn and help educate others.
What kind of fish nerd's girlfriend puts a betta in a bowl? Hopefully she isn't too mad you exploited her kitchen decoration for video content, even though you obviously have good intentions. Keep an eye on the fin rot!
AQUAPROS She was worried you would be super overbearing and you respond by making a public video about her noob betta tank and changed everything? Hunker down dude.
Kudos to AQUAPROS for caring more about the fish than how pissed she might be. Here's hoping that the public video convinces her he's better off in a 5g than even the upgrade (Jeff, not AQUAPROS, lol). 5g is way less work anyway.
Carrie Adkisson a LIVING creature shouldn't be considered a "kitchen decoration" so fuck if she's "mad" at him this is good content anyway he pimped his home she should be thankful
I get why she didn't want your help, because her primary concern is aesthetic looks of a bowl with plants. That is not a reason to buy an animal for so they look good in a vase. Great job saving Jeff but don't expect her to be happy
Ive always given hiding places to my bettas if i cant see them i look in their hidy hole and there they are. One of my bettas dug the rocks out of his hole to make a bed
I sure hope she isn't mad - if you just want a decoration, get a plastic fish and stuff it in something that small. If she isn't persuaded, see if she likes wearing a pretty dress and living in a freezing cold closet for a few weeks, and someone can toss in a few chicken wings every once in a while, hopefully removing the waste regularly. Survive? Yes. Thrive? Not really.
Random User that is to some degree true but many people also appreciate their activity, and interaction with us or other fish. We appreciate every aspect of said fish. I don't think fish should be called decorations. They are indeed living creatures.
yeah why dont they make like floating realistic looking plastic fish with floating fins? that be probably be a hit! Just no difference notable nearly! Come on China you are the plastic masters! There everything is made out of plastic even their rice! And they are the fake copy masters too!
Survival and Living happily is 2 different things - if a fish fully is happy in an aquarium I cant say but it can be done that way that they have some activity going on. In the wild they spend most of their day looking for food or interacting with other fish (chasing girls or fighting for them) checking out new structures so they dont just float round...fortunately for the bowl keepers fish cant scream...but they sometimes jump out of the bowl- I wonder why...
I stole 3 bettas from someone who was using one of those betta falls things. They had no filter or heater in 0.5 gallons. They were all covered in a fungus and barely alive. It took about 3 months for them to fully recover, but now they all have super heavily planted 20 gallon tanks to themselves.
Oh my gosh that's horrible!! W3ll done on the new setup, I've recently bought a betta who came with the tank setup, I'm swapping him into my 10G and keeping the other for snails!
Bettas love space, I used to have my betta in a 2 1/2 gallon and I felt so bad. Neptune is now in a 10 gallon and is so much happier. He has friends in there also (he is fine with having other non bettas in his tank) Bettas love to jump though, I would highly recommend a lid of some sort.
I saved my Timbo from a 2.5 tank with no heater 😟. He just sat there everytime I'd go to the doctors. Hes now in a 20 gallon at proper temp. He does a thing called swimming now. Who knew fish did that.
Happy you upgraded, but the reason Bettas jump is because they're trying to "find a bigger puddle" as they would in the wild. If you have a large enough tank the betta will rarely if never jump. Still 10 gallons is much better than most!
My only real issue with this setup is that betta fish are well known jumpers; some kind of a lid would make sure that you're better safe than sorry and you don't wind up with a crispy fish on the floor. Even just a mesh topper would keep that from happening without ruining the aesthetic too much.
Honestly, I know this video is 3 years old and Jeff is most likely dead at this point, but both tanks were bad. The 2.5 gallon was crammed with rocks and moss balls, and by removing the rim you let it become much easier to accidentally create a burst in the tank. I'm not saying that the vase was better, far from it, but the 2.5 wasn't much of an upgrade, either. There's a reason people tell you 5 gallons is the minimum, y'know?
If his girlfriend wants to keep a fish in a tiny vase when it's too small she shouldn't own it if an animal has specific requirements then you have to meet them requirements
Y’all ever seen the “Betta tanks” they sell in stores and most people buy? Most vases you have around the house have more room and water volume for the fish.
She wasnt exactly in the wrong... Just misinformed, guaranteed the pet store told her a giant wine glass would work, because of how they are kept at the store. Most of those pet store employees dont know proper care, or they dont care.
I know this was uploaded over a year ago, but dude you need to ALWAYS cut away from you. one snag could have sent that box cutter straight into your arm or torso. be safe man.
I had a lid on my tank and my betta still managed to jump out!! I found him on the floor, I thought he died but then he flopped around! I put him back in his tank and by the end of the day, he was practically back to normal! So I named him Houdini
Bettas can stay out of water for 1-2 hours. Suggest not putting a lid since bettas also gotta have oxygen from the air. Also try to train your betta to not jump out.
Oinkey Mc. Loinkey Oinkey Mc. Loinkey I’ve read that bettas can survive longer than that... like, as long as they don’t completely dry out. After that whole ordeal, I’d rather keep a lid on than risk him jumping without a lid. My water level is a few centimetres from the lid and it’s not entirely enclosed (there’s like a centimetre margin between the edges of the lid and the tank walls) so there’s plenty of oxygen.. he’s fine
Oinkey Mc. Loinkey I swear my levels were fine, I just think he saw an opening and went for it (my lid had a pretty sizeable gap just calling out for him to jump)
Clean your doorknobs, no kidding! My boyfriend knows very little about fish, but trusts me to know what's best for them within our budget. And he knows bettas should not be on tiny bowls or vases. If you're not willing to do your best to do the best care for your animals, don't own them! Ugh.
Savanna The Aqua Llama she let him upgrade the tank, just not to a large one. He has enough room in that tank as long as she doesn’t add anymore fish. Perhaps she couldn’t cope with the upkeep of a larger tank or didn’t have the space for it. As long as he’s out of the vase isn’t that what’s important?
Agreed, this goes with any animal. I get disgusted whenever I see people keeping their bettas in tiny .25gal bowls or shoving turtles in a 10 gal or their hamsters in crittertrails. If you purchase an animal, it is your responsibility to take care of them to the best of your ability. If you can't afford a tank large enough for your fish to live happily and healthily in, DON'T BUY THE DAMN FISH, PERIOD.
research can teach you that a bigger tank is much easier to take care of because you don't have to change water as much. People just don't research when they buy a pet which leads to both being upset
I really hope your girlfriend doesn't get pissed because you ruined her "aesthetic" shows a lot about her if she doesn't care about poor jeff being in a tiny tank 😒😒😩 thank god she has a loving bf who actually cares :p hopefully she doesn't get too angry & listens to what you have to say 🙂🐟🌱
So what started out is a bowl with a lot more space ,because it didn't have rocks filter, heater, and looked home decoration wise great ! Turned into a 1/12 gal regular looking bla tank just because you wanted to do it your way instead of hers , I think the only up grade would have been to add soil under the gravel add a few more under surface plants that could make this a low maintenance tank and maybe a light to aid the plants unless she kept it in an area that got so light, I liked her way better !
He's just making it rimless It looks better but there are also tanks that are specially made to be rimless I'm not sure the safeness of doing it on a rim tank
No because he used the water from his previous bowl. That probably gave the new tank good bacteria as well. If he uses Seachem Prime the fish will stay alive
Why does everyone think she'll be mad? No, this tank isn't as "cute" but it's really nice imo and he was doing it to benefit the animal, not to insult his girl.
Yes, get a lid. One morning I woke up to see my goldfish on the ground, dead, because I forgot to close the tank the night before. I was devastated which led me to getting my new betta, and ever since, I’ve kept the tank closed.
I know this is a year old but I just wanted to say goldfish don't naturally jump unless there is something seriously wrong with their water. It was probably poisoned from being in a tank to small
Love this! I started my betta in a 2 gallon tall hexagon tank and wasnt thrilled with the fish cause he wasn't very active and kinda boring. I upgraded him to a 5 gallon rectangular tank and he was so much more happy! Hes super active, makes his little bubble nests &his personality is really starting to shine! Hes become my favorite
"She won't be happy to lose the vase." Who fucking cares? The fish isn't a fucking decoration she can just stick on the side and not care for, he's a living thing that needs a heater and a filter and ROOM TO MOVE. Jesus Christ, it's a living animal, not an accessory.
The vase at least didn't have toxic water for the fish (if they at least put conditioner, and that plant helped too). The only thing than an uncycled filter do is elevate the ammonia and nitrite level, which is highly toxic and often result in the dead of many types of fish that are delicate to lack of beneficial bacteria, and proper water condition, like bettas, despite everything that is said about them. Not even that natural plants could eliminate neither neutralize all that shit at once, here is idiotic to do that.
I'd be a tad bit worried about the fish jumping. I've owned 6 bettas in my life time and out of the 6, 4 were jumpers so soft mesh lids have always been an essential to me. It's pretty awesome to see how quickly Jeff perked up in his new environment though!!
Water conditioner is not good thing. Water in aquarium is safe for the fish after two or three weeks since it was set up and you really don't need to put this chemicals to the aquarium.
I think you're thinking about cycling a tank. What they mean is water conditioner to remove chemicals in the tap water that are dangerous to fish (ie. chlorine and chloramines) You *can* let water sit out for 24-48 hours and the chlorine would evaporate, but the chloramines and other toxic elements would not. Adding the conditioner would remove both of these, and even some conditioners help detoxify ammonia (another element that is very harmful.)
My local Walmart sells beta and I feel so bad for them. They are in tiny plastic tubs and have zero room to swim. I would love to rescue them but I would never steal any. I feel so bad because they are always sick. Haven't seen any dead ones but still. :(
Gary Jokr I don’t live in america but I think the policy would be “we don’t sell fish to anyone under the age of 18” or that they don’t have enough money to buy a tank and equipments necessary to do so
@@garylim2040 where do I start with this one, 1: It would be hard to house that many Bettas because they are aggressive they need their own tank even females can be very aggressive towards each other and "sorority tanks" rarely work and if they are put together they can and will and fight each other often to death. 2:Also that many tanks will take A LOT of room so you'd probably need a whole bedroom or even bigger space to hold that many tanks 3: It can be really expensive to buy that many fish and supplies at once especially is you don't have a job or any source of income and you would need to buy the tanks and food too. A 2.5 gallon tank can go for around $10 and food can be around $5 depending on the size of the container 4: The store would see it as people wanting more fish so they will supply said fish which will cause more to unnecessarily suffer 5: I don't have any animals but I still consider myself an animal lover I hate seeing animals suffer and I'd love to adopt a pet but I know I won't be able to care for it so by not getting a pet I'm doing the animal a favor and not making it suffer because it's not properly taken care of. Instead I volunteer at animal shelters, donate to causes I support, and overall I do whatever is in my power to help animals I feel horrible that I can't help these fish more directly but hey I can still spread awareness of the cruel way they are treated. 6: Aother example would be if your nan needed help but you couldn't help her that day dose that mean you love her any less? No, so just because this person wants to help but can't doesn't mean they're not an animal lover I'm sure if they could they'd help in any way possible. Whew that was a long one (that's what she said) I hope you learned something from my comment I'm not trying to put you down or bully I just want to offer advice and perspective I want to lift you up so you can be better today than you were yesterday I hope you take this into account next time you try and post a comment like this. Best wishes friend.
Jeff definitely needs a lid on his tank. He would probably love if the peace lily was suspended from a lid so the roots could move around for Jeff to swim through.
First of all, keep an eye on Jeff's fins because it looks like he has or had fin rot. Also, I have a betta named Rilley. He's a red veil tale male (Say that five times fast) and he's in a five gallon QT and will be moving up to a 10gal.
Rennen S i have a double tail betta that is translucent so you can see its spine and the red blood line. The tail is white in lowlight and metallic blue in light and the body is yellow while the gills are black. When the betta flares occasionally it is literally a black face staring at you. I bought it for 3 dollars as it had the unique colours and it was way more active than the rest. Named it Argos for brilliant.
Rennen S I have two halfmoon Dumbos, a halfmoon. three crowntails, a veiltail, two dragons, four red kois, an orange koi, three Galaxy kois, and an mix from a breeder. she was a whoops. Nobody can figure out quite what she is because she has qualities of like three fish
My betta has got a huge upgrade. When I first got him he was in a .5 gallon tank. I know fish abuse. Then got a 1.5 gallon. Now a 3.5 gallon. He’s happy and now has filtration. He does not have a heater because it stays at 78 year round in my house. He’s pretty old but happy and healthy.
He is a dragonscale betta! I have one myself and when they are healthy they are BEAUTIFUL. They get really long fins that are white tipped. He doesnt look to be in too bad of shape, other than his fins seem to be a little damaged. Thanks for helping Jeff out! ❣
Last time I had a ,,mummy,, fish was a swordtail / Xipho female Since then.. I keep my tank covered even for fish that usually dont jump haha Sad indeed (to find them like that)
Olivia Ryals how do you know he had straight tap water? He poured from a pitcher. Hey may have conditioned off camera... and he used enough of his water not to have to acclimate him. It was basically just a 70% water change.
agreed. when i was about 10 (i’m 13 now) i went to a doctors appointment and when i came back i went to feed my fish but my mom and i couldn’t find it (male betta in a 3 gallon tank with a filter heater, but not any plants) we were looking and then we found my poor trition behind the tank. he was a sweet fish, i still feel guilty to this day
nice idea to change for bigger size BUT all betta keepers know that need be COVER, for keeping healthy labyrinth and safe matters ( betta easily jump )
@@darkdodoplays4794 Roof is pretty important to keep buildup out of the tank and maintaining temperature. Probably good for other things, too. But people spray perfume and hairspray, cooking stuff, and dust and all that gunk in the air can build up in tank and make fish sick.
My beta jumped out of the tank 4 times before the cat got him. Once I was sure he was dead because he was dry , but when I picked him up he tried to jump away. Lol
I like that you actually care about this fish, and you are not leaving him in that bowl. And you are right that is an okay size though a five is preferable. Thanks for making Jeff’s life better and showing you love him!
There are so many Fluval tanks now, in a number of shapes and sizes, that a squared tank doesn't have to happen. I saw some blown tanks that are designed to sit on a piece of driftwood, the bottom of the tank is contoured to fit the driftwood and some of them were an easy three gallon capacity. The days of keeping Bettas in three cups of water should be over. I just rescued my first Betta in 53 years, yesterday. Kept in the shop in a small plastic container, Spot now lives in a 15 tall. He has been practicing maneuvers all around his tank. It's like he is enjoying his freedom.
Let me reword your comment for you: “It’s interesting.. you said she put the fish in completely inadequate and cruel conditions so you don’t mess up her aesthetic by give it the right conditions it needs to survive.”
Courtney Oml stretch much? His girlfriend obviously didn’t know how the fish was supposed to be kept. Pet stores that sell beta fish tell you that “all you’ll need” is the fish, food, ‘decoration’, the tank, and to change the water! Beta fish are frequently bought fish that are frequently kept poorly due to being uninformed. It’s not THAT big of a deal.. I myself had a beta fish when I was younger and kept it in a tiny tank because I was an uninformed child who was told by a pet shop how to keep the fish wrongly. The beta sadly passed away, but I learned from my mistakes and know now that you should always research before purchasing any type of pet. I currently own a Ball Python that I am VERY informed on and is in amazing condition! Anyway, he obviously most likely told his girlfriend what she was doing wrong and she had now probably learned from her mistakes! It’s really not that big of a deal to call it cruel.. I understand it is somewhat ‘cruel’ but the fish was only in that condition for a couple of weeks as stated. That’s all. Have a nice day :)
I work at a Petco and after like my third paycheck I bought a betta and all the essentials but couldn't afford a decent sized tank sadly. Over time I saved up and went from a .9g to 1.5g to 2g to 3g and then finally was given a 10g. Jeff loves it and now has two catfish and a shrimp. Took a few months but glad I upgraded him.
My Betta Fish is in a 10 gallon tank with 2 hideouts, 2 plants, a heater, an air pump, filter, and gravel as the subtrate. He seems to be really happy.😊
I have a single betta in a ten gallon and I feel like it's still small for him. Bettas do love swimming a lot when giving the opportunity. So many people think they don't need room because "they aren't moving around," but they just need to see the fish in a large tank first. If you are "saving" your girlfriends fish, maybe she shouldn't have a fish. Fish are living creatures that need just as much care as any other animal, they should never be neglected or given the wrong care if you just research and understand that fish need to be happy too.
Allison Rush I have mine in a 20 gal that I upgraded 6 months ago, and she LOVES it. It’s a planted tank so she has lots of places to hide, but she explores every inch of that tank. I can’t stand when people say their bettas “love” small tanks.. their personalities totally change when they’re in larger spaces with more things to explore.
When I moved mine from 5 gallons to a 40 gallon community tank it was amazing, he did the same thing, explores every inch. Spends time all over it, even down on the bottom.
I have a halfmoon beta fish and purchased it with a 3.5 gallon tank that came with an automatic water filter. I got a special decoration structured like a cave so the fish can relax and sleep inside. I recognized how active the fish was in comparison to how much water was in the tank. Including tank size. My tank structure was a half-cylinder. Awesome part was that it had ‘day-mode’, ‘night mode’, and you you could just jut turn the lights on/off. It even had a special opening for pouring fish food for the fish. Surprisingly my fish was and has been very active since the time I bought it.
If you've rescued your first betta or are setting up their tank, I'd recommend splurging on a quality heater since cheapo ones are prone to malfunctioning and boiling the fish alive. Also if you want, you can get a sponge filter instead of a hang-on-the-back since the current flow doesn't affect them so much. Plus sponge filters are waaaayyy cheaper. I pay 2-4 dollars for mine when I order them on amazon.
The fish was gonna die in that vase. How could she get angry at you for stopping her from killing a fish? Like, what kind of person gets mad at you saving their pet's life?!
my betta lived well in a slightly smaller vase for almost a year :/ but it's obviously not the best, they should have a 5 gallon tank, but they will survive if you keep the water very clean.
Rose Lee Petstore workers tell you what their managers require for them to know- which is 90% of the time completely false information. I bet they also told you that bettas live in small puddles in the wild, too, huh? Wild bettas live in vast, heavily planted rice farms that go on for miles. They swim to their heart’s content and defend territories over 3 square feet in length. This is what they like. Not 1 gallon “tanks” that aren’t even large enough to be considered a tank. Please do your research and help your sister’s kid get a better home for her fish, instead of listening to some BS storeworker.
Good on you man. I've personally never owned a fish before until recently and my first fish was a beautiful beta I named Pyke. My boyfriend and I looked at the "recommended" tanks for them and it literally made me sick how tiny they are. So we got a 5 gallon, water filter, and water heater and he's so happy. When I first bought him he barley moved. It's been a few months and now when I show him his food he'll start dancing and it's ADORABLE💕
My Bettas, female "Opal" and male "Uchiwa," are each in their own Marineland 5 gallon Portrait. These are lovely rimless tanks which are ascetically pleasing with a curved glass front and glass lids, also half the price of a Fluval but still with the hidden filtration, I had to add a Hydor heater and thermostat, 80 degrees please. Needless to say my Bettas love them! There is room to have an Otocinclus with them, of course Pothos plants that I "borrowed" from my mum and the ever important Marimo. My male was called a "Paradise Betta" in the store (never heard of that one before) and is extremely long finned of course he had health problems, fin rot and etc., however being in a heated tank with a tonne of almond leaves and regular water changes did the trick. He makes the most lovely bubble nests now it's sad when I clean the tank and they get broken.
I am not an aquarium fish specialist, but indeed, even I know you shouldn't do that. I was searching for this response, it took a long time. Apparently no one here knows anything about fish except us, lol
Seems he did several things wrong. Used tap water (seriously?), did he at least let it sit for a couple days to get the chlorine out? Did not test the pH, did not cycle the water, just threw little Jeff into a new tank without letting him acclimate in a plastic bag - and the gf is going to put the tank in a window?! 🤦🏽♀️OMG!
It is so refreshing to see people putting their Bettas (or girlfriends) in bigger tanks as they are such a mistreated type of fish. However, Bettas do still need to be in bigger tanks then just a 2.5 gallon, 5 is so much better for the little guys.
Why are you dating someone who obviously doesn't listen to you? Like...I'm positive you told her the better quality of life in a 5 gallon...did she just not give a fuck? Jeeze. I would be furious. It's like when people buy a guinea pig and put them in a hamster cage. I'd be single if my husband didn't care about an animal's quality of life. Good luck.
elizabethxxpaige or when people buy a rabbit and pet them in a petstore cage 🙄 Yeah I agree. Like it's not that hard to fit atleast a 10 gallon (minimum according to animal rights groups) somewhere, if you can't get that then just don't get a fish
The size of the tank... Now that is a matter of opinion. I know people who kept healthy bettas in a gallon fish tank. Betta spendens, the colorful Bettas from the stores, which are fish that are farmed and domestically developed, they do not exist in the wild in this form. They have been raised and fully acclimated to this type of habitat. The wild species of Bettas need bigger tanks than a 10 gallon. That's like comparing wolves to dogs. Similar but quite different.
I'd be beyond happy that you did this for my fish!! Shows you have a big loving heart for even the smallest of creatures. You wanted him to stay well and made him a cool little set up. He looks happy hes got more room to stretch his fins lol
it looks like he has fin rot, easy to treat with water around 80-82 and 25% water changes every second day! clean water and a proper temp is the cure for that! as for the filter i would suggest a sponge filter, won't push him around in a tank like that and cheap on amazon. don't use any sort of bettafix on it, that's been proven to be harmful to their labyrinth organ. :)
I keep Bettafix on hand for any susceptible issue that may come up. It's specially formulated for bettas unlike Melafix, which is made by same company. DO NOT use Melafix on a betta! However, I have not had to treat any of my bettas for any ailment since I started adding colloidal silver 500 ppm to their water. 13 drops per gal as a preventative is a miracle, plus 1/2 tsp aquarium salt.
i admire your restraint and subtlety!!...i have no time for someone who uses a living creature as an 'ornament' rather than provide what they actually need to thrive, not just survive 😡 Good job and i sincerely hope she keeps him in his proper set up👍
I got a betta with a 5 gallon tank on Friday and literally put some Marimo in my tank today and prepped a coconut for hides and to put some java moss on top of. I’m going to get 6-8 cherry Shrimps on Friday and I’m hoping that the betta will be cool with them. 😅 I’ve been super happy though because he’s eating like a champ and loves his big tank. ❤️
By the time you add the filter, the heater and the driftwood....pretty much the same amount of room as the vase..hopefully your girlfriend will want a bigger tank for him.... show her some examples of bettas in larger planted tanks so she can see what that could like like for her fish....
Room is one thing, but the heater and filter are required, as well as water volume. Water volume is important as betta fins are fragile and prone to deterioration. Also without warm water they can get fin clamp and melt. This is a better overall tank.
I'm all for moving the beta to a better tank like you did, but it is WAY too busy for that size of a tank in my opinion. Take out some of the rocks or something because at that point it can hide and you might rarely see it besides when it eats. I'm sure your girlfriend wants to look at the fish, not a tank of water and rocks.
Hahah “I’m helping him out!” *adds fluoride saturated tap water* ... the water is the most important part, you don’t want him living him chemicals. You need reverse osmosis water
I just picked up the Imagitatium 3.7 gallon tank kit from Petco last night and set it up. No fish yet but I want to let the water cycle a day or so first. The tank has a built in filter system that has a sponge, bio balls, and floss and carbon/floss cartridge. I haven't had fish in many years but it seems like a good set up for a Betta fish.
Keep in mind, once that trim is removed, the edge of the glass is very sharp and will cut you if you are not careful. Thats the reason the trim is there to begin with. I cant believe he didn't warn anyone about that.
Wow he does look so much happier in the new set up❤️🌻✨ Thank you for saving Jeff.. and giving him a better life..! I feel like betta fishes are underrated in the sense of how we should take care of them. It makes me sad because when it comes to other fishes , people will buy filters, big tanks, heaters.. have a nice setup and everything! But when it comes to bettas people think popping them in just a little vase filled with water is good for them! It makes me so sad, and we need to change that ! So thank you for giving him a better life! ❤️ I know he appreciates it! And I hope your gf didn’t mind especially doing research about how it’ll give little Jeff a better quality of life ✨
I would’ve gone for something like the marine land 5 gallon, it’s kind of tall and thin so it still looks like a small footprint and it sort of stylish or whatever so it looks good and she probably would’ve been happy with that, you can just yank the cartridges out and use foam in the filter and there’s room to fit a heater, you can shorten the tube and raise the water pump tire and a short heater will fit under it great. Because it’s taller it looks small, I doubt she never noticed the difference.
I had a female that had the exact same coloring but had an iridescent blue at the end of her fins...Betta's are real cool if you take good care of them
I have a baby male Betta :) his name is blue just a common Betta rescued him from a Petco , he's living the big life in a 55 gallon planted aquarium , he's my only Betta in there and everyone gets along pretty well :) , he eats well , likes to chill with the noodles ( loaches) or just hide and wait for me to say hi and feed him - v - , I noticed how much happier her Betta got after you changed him to the "bigger " tank , really hope your gf doesn't get upset tho and hope she understands it's better for her little Betta , he will be so much happier and active :) and hopefully his tail will grow back and get better ¶∆¶
Adam Ramirez no, acually. Betas really like small tanks. Like a gallon tank. No current and lots of places to hid. vases arent good, nor a tank over 3 gallons. So, that poor fish.
LISTEN UP Not an attack just a note for everyone. rescuing these fish is just letting Wal-Mart know that people buy these fish which means they will continue getting the fish. By buying a fish you are supporting this. Please stop. What we need to focus on is spreading awareness. I understand this helps with that but your also being counter active and giving other people the idea of doing themselves.
Got a Koi Betta yesterday. Got a heater , filer and a 2.5 gallon .. he’s loving it and active . Heater is preset for a steady 78 degrees F . I got him some pellets and freeze dried bloodworms ( a treat that he will be getting once a week ) .. two pellets in the am and two in the pm as far as I’ve read should be sufficient.. let me know if that sounds good .. he seems to be quite happy and he’s very active !! Named him Bruiser

AQUAPROS thanks for an awsome vid thank you for all you do keep doing that and you will have a good life.
AQUAPROS wow cool vid
AQUAPROS I've had one for almost two years now without a nice setup like yours. Pretty good beginner fish.
I probably would have kept the rim for a lid to sit on top of. Bettas like to jump so you might want to add something on top to block him. Also, with smaller tanks the water evaporates super fast. I love the way rimless tanks look though, it's a bummer.
AQUAPROS I have five bettas, 3 females and 2 males... I really enjoy my bettas5

@@googlereviewguy7574 Not really. Based off the video, it definitely appears that he has experience with raising fish. From everything I have seen, everything he is doing is the minimum for Betta fish. He obviously cares for this fish and wants it to have a better life.
@@googlereviewguy7574 he just cares about fish and wants the best for them. He should have talked about this with his girlfriend though.

Awww that sounds so cute!!!!❤️ do you still have him? One of my betta fish gets exited for breakfast
My bettas are babies and use a silk feather plant and a live plant with large flat leaves as hammocks and it's adorable

Thëriziino not what he said. He was trying to say some bettas like smaller homes, others like larger.
Saundis Would you like to be kn a room the size of your bed for your whole life?
AquaLars FishNShrimps that's awesome
Yeah I agree. Sweden has some stupid laws but these ones are really good.
AquaLars FishNShrimps awesome

Its really great to see more people encourage bettas to be kept in tanks.
+Carrie Adkisson I know right!!!! Ill let everyone know what her response is lol
SoUmYea that was my point
I get why she didn't want your help, because her primary concern is aesthetic looks of a bowl with plants. That is not a reason to buy an animal for so they look good in a vase. Great job saving Jeff but don't expect her to be happy
“Proper betta tank setup”
*puts him in a 2.5 gallon
*gave him zero hiding spots
*doesn’t use a lid
*uses tap water*
*Doesn't acclimate*
*Doesn't cycle
*Puts by window
*No water change plans
me sup yeah it’s not the best setup but it’s much better than before and the “average” betta tank
Ive always given hiding places to my bettas if i cant see them i look in their hidy hole and there they are. One of my bettas dug the rocks out of his hole to make a bed
lid is important. Mine will be in my room. Any kind of parfume I spray for example would effect the tank. Dust, etc
Survive? Yes. Thrive? Not really.
Cranium Rex RIGHT like he's a living creature not a DECORATION😩
Cranium Rex Pretty much the only thing you could keep in that bowl would be plants, a snail or a couple shrimp.
Smumpism Wonderful! I bet they're so much happier! :)
I love hearing stuff like this. I'm glad you did that!
Smumpism bet they are happy
Chaotic good
Oh my gosh that's horrible!!
My first betta was named Neptune!
My only real issue with this setup is that betta fish are well known jumpers; some kind of a lid would make sure that you're better safe than sorry and you don't wind up with a crispy fish on the floor. Even just a mesh topper would keep that from happening without ruining the aesthetic too much.
That's why the water level is low
Sierra Merchant great, take even more space from the fish in an already too small enclosure
A crispy fish 😭😭😭
@@sierramerchant4326 Bettas can jump up to a foot high, so they'd need a huge tank to not have a lid, but rather have a low water level.
StealingSunsets no hunny
Shoulda got a five gallon and told her it's a 2.5 lol. I kid but damn, a fish in a vase......poor fish.
There's a reason people tell you 5 gallons is the minimum, y'know?
right and when you see them in a 10 gallon, you think they could easily be happier in a 20 gallon lol
Bro you didn't cycle the tank or condition the water
or acclimate the Betta to the water temp change
Sadly he only got it half right..
Didn't even float the fish, he might have got white spot from the shock of temp change
@@rickymurray floating the fish is acclimating.
He used the water straight from Jeff's bowl. Why would he need to cycle the tank?
If his girlfriend wants to keep a fish in a tiny vase when it's too small she shouldn't own it if an animal has specific requirements then you have to meet them requirements
Honestly, she literally just thew a plant and some rocks in an oversized wine glass and called it a day
Y’all ever seen the “Betta tanks” they sell in stores and most people buy? Most vases you have around the house have more room and water volume for the fish.
She wasnt exactly in the wrong... Just misinformed, guaranteed the pet store told her a giant wine glass would work, because of how they are kept at the store. Most of those pet store employees dont know proper care, or they dont care.

My water level is a few centimetres from the lid and it’s not entirely enclosed (there’s like a centimetre margin between the edges of the lid and the tank walls) so there’s plenty of oxygen.. he’s fine
Cate bettas also jump out due to ammonia (basically means the fish will do anything for clean water including jumping out of the tank.)
Oinkey Mc. Loinkey I swear my levels were fine, I just think he saw an opening and went for it (my lid had a pretty sizeable gap just calling out for him to jump)
Cate well i guess your betta jumps for fun lol
dude if your gf is so dead-set on neglecting her fish and gets offended over/avoids advice that kind of sounds like a deal-breaker
Littlewings - as long as there is a heater and filter hopefully it should be fine

You shouldn't remove the rim from the top - it weakens the tank doing that!
yea, or the bottom...? It's just for looks? I don't really get that part. I'm afraid to ruin my tank
He's just making it rimless It looks better but there are also tanks that are specially made to be rimless I'm not sure the safeness of doing it on a rim tank

In some places around the USA, the tap water isn't chlorinated, so hopefully Jeff is lucky enough to be in one of those areas.
Question do you need to wait for algee/bacteria to biuld up a bit in the water before putting the fish in
Just a Hero for fun look up a process called cycling! should be done before adding a fish to a tank
Kristin Peterson I think it is way cuter not to lie
I think she’d be at least annoyed because he didn’t tell her he was doing it and went completely behind her back.
He asked her about upgrading and she agreed to the 2.5 gallon tank.
Yes, get a lid. One morning I woke up to see my goldfish on the ground, dead, because I forgot to close the tank the night before. I was devastated which led me to getting my new betta, and ever since, I’ve kept the tank closed.
That same thing happened to me with two fish and my crab. The weird thing is that all times the lid was closed
One time we had to move our eel out of the big tank while we cleaned it, just a 2.5 gallon. He jumped out.
I know this is a year old but I just wanted to say goldfish don't naturally jump unless there is something seriously wrong with their water. It was probably poisoned from being in a tank to small

Aw Jeff is so cute and u improved his life style so much ! Yes bettas can live in bowls or vases but it
Tbh very true look it up
I'd be a tad bit worried about the fish jumping. I've owned 6 bettas in my life time and out of the 6, 4 were jumpers so soft mesh lids have always been an essential to me. It's pretty awesome to see how quickly Jeff perked up in his new environment though!!
You forgot water conditioner so the tap water is much safer
The Unicorn I was thinking the same thing.
I assume he conditioned it before he tipped it in
Water conditioner is not good thing.
Adding the conditioner would remove both of these, and even some conditioners help detoxify ammonia (another element that is very harmful.)
he used the same water the fish had been in
*gets a bigger aquarium, just to fill it 60% full of rocks, etc.* he ultimately has the same amount of swimming room lol
The difference is the filter and the heater x
McNugget&Co and less reflection on the glass
The surface area might appear to be similar, but the small aquarium has around 2 to 3x the interior area. It is notably better.
My local Walmart sells beta and I feel so bad for them. They are in tiny plastic tubs and have zero room to swim. I would love to rescue them but I would never steal any. I feel so bad because they are always sick. Haven't seen any dead ones but still. :(
why don't you buy them all huh? "animal lover"
Gary Jokr I don’t live in america but I think the policy would be “we don’t sell fish to anyone under the age of 18” or that they don’t have enough money to buy a tank and equipments necessary to do so
@@garylim2040 cuz if she buys the fish walmart will know people want to buy fish and they will keep selling them its counter productive
luckily, these fish often sell really fast. So they won´t be staying there long
@@garylim2040 where do I start with this one,
1: It would be hard to house that many Bettas because they are aggressive they need their own tank even females can be very aggressive towards each other and "sorority tanks" rarely work and if they are put together they can and will and fight each other often to death.
2:Also that many tanks will take A LOT of room so you'd probably need a whole bedroom or even bigger space to hold that many tanks
3: It can be really expensive to buy that many fish and supplies at once especially is you don't have a job or any source of income and you would need to buy the tanks and food too. A 2.5 gallon tank can go for around $10 and food can be around $5 depending on the size of the container
4: The store would see it as people wanting more fish so they will supply said fish which will cause more to unnecessarily suffer
5: I don't have any animals but I still consider myself an animal lover I hate seeing animals suffer and I'd love to adopt a pet but I know I won't be able to care for it so by not getting a pet I'm doing the animal a favor and not making it suffer because it's not properly taken care of.
*my name jeff*
*Mah nama jeff**
Y35 (yes)
Furious knockout/shadowbolt exactly what I thought
Bigg jef
Quit making fun of the fish
Jeff definitely needs a lid on his tank. He would probably love if the peace lily was suspended from a lid so the roots could move around for Jeff to swim through.
First of all, keep an eye on Jeff's fins because it looks like he has or had fin rot. Also, I have a betta named Rilley. He's a red veil tale male (Say that five times fast) and he's in a five gallon QT and will be moving up to a 10gal.
Rennen S gj
Jayden Cool my bettas in a ten gal
my betta was in a 20 gal
but he died so now i have some baby koi fish in there
DarkDodo Plays oof too small for kio they grow 3 feet just saying
DarkDodo Plays 20 gal seems a bit overkill for me. You can’t see the betta but most importantly it’s harder to find food.
He is a dragonscale betta! I have one myself and when they are healthy they are BEAUTIFUL. They get really long fins that are white tipped. He doesnt look to be in too bad of shape, other than his fins seem to be a little damaged. Thanks for helping Jeff out! ❣
LID!
I can attest that bettas can jump quite well.
Really sucks to find your fish friend as a mummy...
Maeghen Daly lid, water conditioner, cycling, and Jeff should have been acclimated to the new tank rather than just plopped in there.
Last time I had a ,,mummy,, fish was a swordtail / Xipho female
Since then.. I keep my tank covered even for fish that usually dont jump haha
Sad indeed (to find them like that)
Maeghen Daly I got so scared because he put STRAIGHT TAP WATER IN THERE OH MY GOD I NEARLY CRIED
Olivia Ryals how do you know he had straight tap water? He poured from a pitcher. Hey may have conditioned off camera... and he used enough of his water not to have to acclimate him. It was basically just a 70% water change.
agreed. when i was about 10 (i’m 13 now) i went to a doctors appointment and when i came back i went to feed my fish but my mom and i couldn’t find it (male betta in a 3 gallon tank with a filter heater, but not any plants) we were looking and then we found my poor trition behind the tank. he was a sweet fish, i still feel guilty to this day
nice idea to change for bigger size BUT all betta keepers know that need be COVER, for keeping healthy labyrinth and safe matters ( betta easily jump )
i had a beta without a roof for a year then he just died i dont know why tho
well half a year because while i was cleaning his tank one time it cracked so we got a new one but no roof
@@darkdodoplays4794 Roof is pretty important to keep buildup out of the tank and maintaining temperature. Probably good for other things, too. But people spray perfume and hairspray, cooking stuff, and dust and all that gunk in the air can build up in tank and make fish sick.
My betta never jumped! She was very humble.
Everytime u said "Jeff" I think the betta says,"My name is Jeff!"😂💀
I love how every time he says “Jeff” he sounds so spiteful. Oh, this filter will be fine with just JEFF in here...
It's interesting.. you said she bought the fish without telling you so you don't do exactly what you're doing in this video
Let me reword your comment for you:
“It’s interesting.. you said she put the fish in completely inadequate and cruel conditions so you don’t mess up her aesthetic by give it the right conditions it needs to survive.”
No need for an air pump as they breath air like we do :)
Well I think keeping a betta in anything under 800 gallons constitutes animal abuse, which means that I’m a better person than all of you.
I´ll probably be putting one in a 33G community tank. It still feels like too little, I can´t imagine putting it in a vase.
Ya'll are legit fucken crazy XD I'm ganna get one possibly in a biOrb CLASSIC 15 Aquarium possibly. Idk. Seems chill.
To be honest, I think keeping bettas or any kind of animal in a goddamn vase is animal cruelty.
Same here
You sound like a beta male.
@@GF-gc2kq Let's have someone keep you in a vase for a few years, then find out how you feel about it.
Then don’t
Bettas don't need a 10 gallon aquarium, wild bettas live in puddles so its not much different.
Dude this video is awesome, I now own 3 betas, I love your videos
The fish was gonna die in that vase. How could she get angry at you for stopping her from killing a fish? Like, what kind of person gets mad at you saving their pet's life?!
my betta lived well in a slightly smaller vase for almost a year :/ but it's obviously not the best, they should have a 5 gallon tank, but they will survive if you keep the water very clean.
@Rose Lee thats wrong though, please inform yourself online
Soft baby cows Congrats, your betta didn’t even live to half of the average lifespan of a healthy betta in proper conditions.
@Rose Lee Wrong! bettas love big tanks. a 10g is recommended, a 5g is minimum.
I would've still gotten a 5 gallon tank even if my girlfriend said no, like ur fish needs room to live
@@nickdan1313 it will survive not thrive
@@rayyanibrahim451 Yeah. So fine.
@@nickdan1313 that means it will live a short life of suffering as you treating like an ornament
Or at least a 3 gallon.
Still better than a giant wine glass... 2.5 is ok just would need more care and since it has a pump and a heater not really a problem.
He makes the most lovely bubble nests now it's sad when I clean the tank and they get broken.
my betta is in a 40 gallon tank
Spacemicheladatchet how
*Rice patties that stretch many miles.
They live in shallows yes, but vast areas of shallow water, their territory on average in the wild is a six foot space.
JJ Aquariums mines in a 45 as well
In fact for Bettas the bigger the better
Please tell me you didn’t put the poor fish in tap water omg 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ smh
I am not an aquarium fish specialist, but indeed, even I know you shouldn't do that.
I was searching for this response, it took a long time.
Apparently no one here knows anything about fish except us, lol
@@whiteeagle8140 you can use tap water if you use a conditioner with it.
🤦🏽♀️OMG!
@@Cinnamongirl4life That's true. He prolly shove showed that 3 new peeps etc..
maybe he put the conditioner in off camera
Remember, treat your tap water for chlorine and such before adding you Betta.
11:13 I can see that he is loving his new home just by it staying still
It is so refreshing to see people putting their Bettas (or girlfriends) in bigger tanks as they are such a mistreated type of fish.
Good luck.
elizabethxxpaige or when people buy a rabbit and pet them in a petstore cage 🙄
Yeah I agree.
I have my Betta fish in a 2.5G tank with a little hiding log, few soft fake plants and a hammock. He loves it
I'd be beyond happy that you did this for my fish!!
What medication do you guys use for fin rot? I was thinking about buying Bettafix on Amazon, but I didn’t realize it could be harmful to them
I keep Bettafix on hand for any susceptible issue that may come up. It's specially formulated for bettas unlike Melafix, which is made by same company. DO NOT use Melafix on a betta! However, I have not had to treat any of my bettas for any ailment since I started adding colloidal silver 500 ppm to their water. 13 drops per gal as a preventative is a miracle, plus 1/2 tsp aquarium salt.
i admire your restraint and subtlety!!...i have no time for someone who uses a living creature as an 'ornament' rather than provide what they actually need to thrive, not just survive 😡
Good job and i sincerely hope she keeps him in his proper set up👍
I got a betta with a 5 gallon tank on Friday and literally put some Marimo in my tank today and prepped a coconut for hides and to put some java moss on top of. I’m going to get 6-8 cherry Shrimps on Friday and I’m hoping that the betta will be cool with them. 😅 I’ve been super happy though because he’s eating like a champ and loves his big tank. ❤️
Your girl is gonna be mad lol
Big Paydrow if she is then imo she isn't worth it
I am Ellie she shouldn't have a fish if she can't care for it, if she is hurt over this and feels that way sucks to be her
By the time you add the filter, the heater and the driftwood....pretty much the same amount of room as the vase..hopefully your girlfriend will want a bigger tank for him.... show her some examples of bettas in larger planted tanks so she can see what that could like like for her fish....
Room is one thing, but the heater and filter are required, as well as water volume. Water volume is important as betta fins are fragile and prone to deterioration. Also without warm water they can get fin clamp and melt. This is a better overall tank.
I'm not saying that it isn't a better tank..I know the fish needs a heater... I am saying that if it were larger it could be so much better...
MELODY MUNRO bigger is better
I'm all for moving the beta to a better tank like you did, but it is WAY too busy for that size of a tank in my opinion. Take out some of the rocks or something because at that point it can hide and you might rarely see it besides when it eats. I'm sure your girlfriend wants to look at the fish, not a tank of water and rocks.
Ma name jeffff
he's a total meme, glad you got it :)
AQUAPROS Haha thought so!! Love the tank...please let us know what she says!
AQUAPROS hi so i have a 5.6 gallon tank and i have some guppies in and today i got a betta i have him in a bowl and i want to put it in my 5.6 can i?
Been looking for this comment
All she wanted is an apple, and you gave her a truck of pears...Goodluck my friend..
Steven Wang lol
Hahah “I’m helping him out!” *adds fluoride saturated tap water* ... the water is the most important part, you don’t want him living him chemicals. You need reverse osmosis water
In some places around the USA, the tap water is chemical free, so hopefully Jeff was lucky enough to be in one of those areas
Pretty sure he must have used tap water conditioner.
Synthia Synsation what area would that be?
Perhaps he has well water? I have well water, which has no chemicals. So I only add water conditioner to my tanks
Ur setting is way better than ur girlfriend's fish bowl😂
Awesome man
I just picked up the Imagitatium 3.7 gallon tank kit from Petco last night and set it up.
I don't understand why he removed it anyway. If you want frameless get a small acrylic
I'd like to see her reaction! Bet she loved it as much as the betta! I'd say that tank looks even better than the vase :)
And I hope your gf didn’t mind especially doing research about how it’ll give little Jeff a better quality of life ✨
I think the fish said:
MY NAME'S JEFF
I would’ve gone for something like the marine land 5 gallon, it’s kind of tall and thin so it still looks like a small footprint and it sort of stylish or whatever so it looks good and she probably would’ve been happy with that, you can just yank the cartridges out and use foam in the filter and there’s room to fit a heater, you can shorten the tube and raise the water pump tire and a short heater will fit under it great. Because it’s taller it looks small, I doubt she never noticed the difference.
im pretty sure bettas prefer long tanks over tall tanks
I had a female that had the exact same coloring but had an iridescent blue at the end of her fins...Betta's are real cool if you take good care of them
I have a baby male Betta :) his name is blue just a common Betta rescued him from a Petco , he's living the big life in a 55 gallon planted aquarium , he's my only Betta in there and everyone gets along pretty well :) , he eats well , likes to chill with the noodles ( loaches) or just hide and wait for me to say hi and feed him - v - , I noticed how much happier her Betta got after you changed him to the "bigger " tank , really hope your gf doesn't get upset tho and hope she understands it's better for her little Betta , he will be so much happier and active :) and hopefully his tail will grow back and get better ¶∆¶
i have a red halfmoon male betta :3 his name is tord
Glitching_ Taco get a male blue betta and name it tom. PLEASE. Also please tell me the betta is red
yep hes red!
Adam Ramirez no, acually. Betas really like small tanks. Like a gallon tank. No current and lots of places to hid. vases arent good, nor a tank over 3 gallons. So, that poor fish.
I rescued my betta too
Every fish in dat fucking pet shop was sick and one died my fish is beautiful :)
So you are saying let the fish dying?
So your letting the Walmart higher ups know that if they keep putting them out that people will keep buying them to "save them"
Where should I get them from then? Are there any breeders or stuff like that?
Yes, most of the breeders are online so you can look it up with a quick google search of “bettas for sale”.
So we should leave them to die? How about no?
Got a Koi Betta yesterday. Got a heater , filer and a 2.5 gallon .. he’s loving it and active . Heater is preset for a steady 78 degrees F . I got him some pellets and freeze dried bloodworms ( a treat that he will be getting once a week ) .. two pellets in the am and two in the pm as far as I’ve read should be sufficient.. let me know if that sounds good .. he seems to be quite happy and he’s very active !! Named him Bruiser
Oh and I purchased some water conditioner as well to treat the water
Me: see Vladimir Lemon (my Betta) you’re living the highlife In your 10 gallon temp controlled tank don’t be a spoiled fish!
Vladimir: I will destroy capitalism.
Me: Vladimir chill
Dragonslayer2016 ahahahahahahah
“Vladmir, if you destroy capitalism your food will start disappearing from the stores, chill dude ahahah”
Dragonslayer2016 I love that name.
Omg that's the best name for a Betta i swear 😂
