I had a nissen fundoplication op and I have never been sick since and it saved my oesophagus from acid reflux damage (barrets disease) this surgeon was right when he said it was the gold
    standard

I had this done almost 5 years ago. I'm back to square1. burping, and had projectile vomiting. why has this happened?

  • @TRguy64

My gastro suggested this surgery, though I'm very hesitant due to the often inability to vomit, vomiting is a rare occurrence for me these days, but in the case of a bad stomach bug when you just gotta get those awful sickly stomach contents up and out and you can't and have to sit and wait and wait in the hospital in agony!

I had this done in 2010 by the most renowned dr for this type of procedure in Seattle, WA-University of Washington Med. Ctr.. I got INSTANT relief from YEARS of misery from acid reflux. I have, of late, been experiencing subtle heartburn. Will adjust some eating habits-hope that fixes things!

I had this op, it was quite hurried when I was 40 after my sinister cells changed to pre-cancerous. I have a hiatus hernia & Barrets and possibly born without a valve which my surgeon made for me during the op. My surgeon in England basically saved my life, what a difference. I couldn't eat for about 6 months after, only pureed food had probs swallowing potatoes, meat, bread, all heavy food but eventually I learnt to eat little and often and chew, chew, chew, this suits me. I was also advised to not eat too spicy foods, too cold, too hot but I was never told I would not be able to vomit. After many years I realised I could not be sick anymore even when I became very allergic to some drugs I was given for pain relief, the doctors were baffled until I told them of past stomach surgery. I have always had the feeling of a tight band under my chest which sometimes can annoy me and I must have omeprazole every day but I had been given another shot of life without pain & discomfort & possible cancer. I must have annual checkups and seem ok after 18 years of my operation.

I think you can call your surgery "successful" Tracyann. Do not think you are alone in your sufferings. Maybe 1/2 of the humans on this planet suffer severely for most or all their lives. But there is Someone greater than this life. Believe on Jesus, the Son of God. He promises all who do a bright FOREVER. And that sure is a LOT longer than this stinking life. May He bless you as you seek Him...

I had a Nissen fundoplication and ended up with bloating and gas and twisted bowels had surgery had a feeding tube then just a gastric tube to let the air out and a PICC line in my arm for nutrition so be very careful about thinking about getting this surgery!!!

i've was a powerlifter, and after a decade of lifting, i developed a hiatal hernia. that was almost 26 years ago. i experience pain in my abdomen and have had problems swallowing. but i don't know if the surgery is worth having done. i've read about and seen patients recovering from this, and it looks like hell. also, i don't know if i want the mesh over my upper abdomen. that seems to have given people problems. i have had open and laparoscopic sx's before, but this surgery seems so much worse than anything i experienced. i really don't think it's worth having.

I had large hiatal hernia repair Nissan Fundoplicaption.
The surgery went very well, 5 hours later I was walking down the hall. ( I'm 63y)
I stayed in the hospital overnight just for observation.
Glad I didn't needed any pain killers after I got home, not even a Tylenol.
I'm over 3 weeks now, feeling great and I don't have any of the symptoms I had before the surgery. Eating soft foods still, giving my stomach time to heal.
I told my surgeon, he had given me my life back.👌

      @christinegabor1986 7 місяців тому +1

Put a rubber band around your wrist
Now they can never remove this because they would have to reconstruct your whole stomach this surgery leads to severe gas which goes into Cancer
It makes you more sick this surgery whoever invented the Nissen fundolication everyone should sue
I like to put this in that doctor to see if he could take the pain

@@yonikab8066 don't listen . If you have severe acid reflux or hiatel hurnia you have to get this done other wise after surgery your skin will reopen and hurnia will come back. Constant acid can damage your organs over time. It's to stop the acid can you imagine the acid is meant to break down food not your organs. Trust your gi when they say you need this. Their here to save your life not to destroy it .
