Word that’s what always got me was after all the story telling grandpa does when he says it’s just a myth it’s not true the show always ends showing you that the myth is true all the time that’s what made hey Arnold spectacular there best episodes was the scary ones those were perfectly written I mean the suspense we would get listening to the scary story to only find out hey that story grandpa told you is 100 percent true as kid they scared the hell out of me now I’m not scared of it but that 4 eyed ghost ending completely scared me as a child it’s amazing how they write those episodes very well detailed an then they just keep you so suspense until boom that ghost is real an your so shocked you get scared
4 eyed Jack actually didn't scare me, seemed like a friendly ghost. All he did was get his glasses back, cover Gerald up with his blanket when he was sleeping, and just said "boo" lol.
I think it's funny that he even says "um" before he says "boo", as if he's like, "Okay, I guess I'm supposed to do the ghost thing . . . um, what's the line again? Right. Boo."
I suggest it's not meth at all, given the time frame it's more likely that 4 eyed Jack was actually distilling spirits because it was during the prohibition. It's not too much of a stretch to think Grandma Gertie might have been a young woman during that time period considering Hey Arnold first aired in the mid 90's. It's at least more likely than a meth lab from a historical perspective. Cheers for another awesome video and congratulations on the move!
19:44 my friend told me a week or two ago that he once heard a really weird voice say "He is mine" over the baby monitor in his son's room in the middle of the night, and there was nobody in the room when he went to check. The baby was sleeping just fine and nothing was out of place, it was just a really odd and terrifying experience, which the ending of this episode reminded me of
The fact that the legends and stories always turned out to be true was always one of my favorite parts of the show. Even if the characters never learned that the story was true, but the viewer did.

Also I am so happy that Shawn now both gets to move to a new house and can work a job that actually makes him happy. I can think of no UA-camr who deserves this more.
I had forgotten about this episode, but I remember now that the ending where Four-Eyed Jack shows up scared me as a kid. Watching that scene now, it's actually really sweet that he pulls Gerald's blanket up over him before he leaves. Whether he meant to wake Gerald up in doing so isn't clear, but he was definitely having a bit of fun there at the end with the little "uh... boo!" One last little ghost trick before moving on.
Nothing better than spooky season episodes, especially when it's one of Grandpa's spooky tales! Life has gotten so busy and rough, that I really needed this video to detach and relax for a moment. Thank you for building up this amazing space and community 💜🦇 Edit: totally just the spirits telling you you're on the right path and doing anazing
Does anybody remember a hey Arnold "who-done-it" special where the audience had to try to guess the mystery person by the end of the ep. There were clues given during commercials. Wondering if I did hallucinate that episode.
All of the scary Hey Arnold episodes scared the crap out of me as a kid. Four eyed Jack, the ghost bride, the headless cabby, especially the haunted train one. All scared me, and are now some of my favorite episodes. xD
I actually torrented all episodes of Hey Arnold in HD and rewatched them after 15 years, they still hold up. Especially the early episodes, and the War of the Worlds spoof definetely one of the stronger one.
Contrats all around. Great to know things are going great and another fun Arnold video. Can't wait to see what other spooky videos is in store and I do hope we get more Rocko's modern life down the road. One of the greats like Hey Arnold with so much to explore still.
11:54 I remember seeing it one more time in the episode when Grandpa’s sister came to visit. She gets revenge on him after he kicks her out of his bathroom by flushing the toilet in the secret bathroom to change the water temperature of his shower 😂 I always loved that lil detail, it made me feel like maybe they discovered the area when they explored in the boarding house as kids.
Dude, your content is fun. Never really watched Hey Arnold growing up but these retrospectives are really interesting. Congrats on everything you have accomplished!
i respect your in depth analysis of the hey arnold lore, gimme the gerald episode. But my money is an episode on stinky, or even the long awaited gerald episode. (it'll prolly be chocolate boy tbh)
Congratulations Shawn! ♥ This makes me really happy for you. In just a few days I've watched through.. WAY too much of your channel and fallen in love with your content, and your personality. One of my favorite creators I've found in years.
Congratulations on the move! I know it must have been really rough on you, but you've been talking about wanting to make the move and I'm so happy your able to do it! I know its gotta be bitter sweet leaving those memories behind. I'm also sentimental, I get how rough it can be. But I'm really happy your getting to move on to this next chapter in your life! I hope things go well for you. I'm glad your content has taken off like it has to allow you to do this!
I barely finished the seres of ur dark side hey Arnold and it was amazing. I wish this one was longer like the other ones!about to watch to start it… grabbed my chips and soda to start it 🙌
This eased my anxiety today a bit. I have some newfound strength to get some things done. Thank u & congrats on the move & really diving into ur passion & showing us more of these worlds. 😊
Actually the downstairs bathroom is mentioned again in the episode, “Grandpa’s Sister” when Grandpa forces Aunt Mitzi to use the downstairs bathroom so he can use the shower. This leads to Aunt Mitzi repeatedly flushing the downstairs toilet in order to make the shower scalding hot.
Why did Four-Eyed Jack throw the glass milk bottle into the pot? Maybe that's what made his experiment blow him up. I woke up to seeing a transparent, white animal in my closet in the first apartment that I lived in after being left to stay in a homeless shelter.
Congratulations on the new move! I know it may seem scary right now, but just think of all of the wonderful memories and amazing content that’s going to happen in your new home. Wishing you guys the best of luck 😊👍🏻.
This episode I thought was as the scariest in Hey Arnold when I was a kid. But when other episodes aired such as The Headless Cabbie and The Ghost Bride which were even scarier and darker by comparison. But still this was episode I’d expect to see during the month of October as I found it pretty darn scary. I mean haunted houses always get me terrified.
Imagine just laying there in your bed on a dark stormy night you feel a cold presence and you wake up and you see a ghost like that, this is kind of like sleep paraylisis almost except the part when gerald screams some people think this ep isn't really scary but if u think about it wow...thanks for the review man i wish they could have went deeper into this we was kids so yea but this was my favorite episode of Hey Arnold and the one with that train good jesus lol
Congrats! Hope the new home is good! I learned about how dangerous homemade drug labs could be in my teen years, so i never considered the Jack was a "cook". Very clever way of telling the kids about the weird guy living in the basement long ago. It was kind of nice that his spirit did find rest at last...after traumatizing Gerald, i mean lol
Weve seen Arnold in the basement before, is the lab and bathroom in like a sub basement or is it just a part of the basement thats walled off to make it a separate area and the stairs behind the door are a separate set from the main ones, which would make sense because the spy guy uses a back staircase as well, maybe its the same.
Yes! I can't wait until the rest of the Dark Side of Hey Arnold!!!! -- I wonder if you can cover Rugrats next in the Dark Side of series after the Hey Arnold part.
I'm so happy for you man, you are living the dream ❤ best wishes to you and your family and i am thankful that i am one of the many tiny gears that helped your career machine grow 🥺❤
Man I love October, It's the one time EVERYBODY puts out Spooky content and I Love every bit of it. Twilight-toberZone, Longbox of the Damned, Monster Madness.ect..., This Episode of Hey Arnold Is certainly up there as one of my all time favorites. Also Growing up i noticed there's more than a couple Hey Arnold episodes that have this same sort of "The Super natural thing was real" stinger at the end, The Haunted Train, Wheezen' Ed, Headless Cabbie, Sid the Vampire Slayer, Ghost Bride and to an extent Arnold's Halloween(With the Lights on the tower turning back on)
Good luck with your move! In the middle of moving too, hopefully I'll be all moved in in time to decorate for Halloween. My bro thinks this one is the scariest of the hey arnold episodes, I think Ghost bride is. Love all of them tho👻
I actually cracked up at the end where Four Eyed Jack tucks Gerald in than Gerald wakes up and Jack says "Um boo." Than Gerald screams really loud and everyone in the boarding house turns on the lights.
10:51 Gumball kinda had this exact same thing happen to him too in his cartoon. Since i watched that episode before this one, When i watched this for the first time, i immediately thought about Gumball's basement

The way the spooky episodes of Hey Arnold end has always been really intriguing to me with how they suggest that the legend may very well be real.

Looking back as an adult its funny how it seems that its always fruit that gives grandpa the runs lol
Hooray for Spooky Season! I can't wait to see what you cover for this years!
Congratulations, leaving your old house can be difficult, but as long as you have your family with you, you are home. Take care Shawn

Your friend better get a vpn if the monitor is connected to wifi. Creeps hack those all the time. That wasn’t a ghost.
To be honest, I had completely forgotten about this episode. But the way you covered it was really fun and interesting!
They said his spirit was muttering and walking around bumping into things. But in the Hey Arnold Universe urban legends are apparently true.
The fact that the legends and stories always turned out to be true was always one of my favorite parts of the show. Even if the characters never learned that the story was true, but the viewer did.

The best episodes of this show was the scary episode very well written
My kids are getting into hey arnold and while im enjoying watching the whole series with them, im looking forward to watching these videos with them.
Do you know how cool this is that you get to do that?
You're awesome.
I like how four eyes jack just went “um, boo.” Like he didn’t know how to ghost or something or he was just being a jerk to Gerald 😂😂
This Hey Arnold episode about refried beans invokes images of flagellants and secret bathrooms.

There was always something about Jack dumping the milk, bottle and all, that always bothered me as a kid 😂
Like why even pour it lol😂

Which state is he moving to? I'm in the midwest so I'm curious
@@kelsey2333 I was going to add a comment asking the same thing. I too am in the midwest and would love to know.
I’ve been waiting for so long I am so so happy you finally uploaded a Hey Arnold video at last!!!
So happy for you getting to move forward in life and finally away from 911. Excited to see the Chanel grow with you having the space to thrive! 🙏❤️
All of the scary Hey Arnold episodes scared the crap out of me as a kid. Four eyed Jack, the ghost bride, the headless cabby, especially the haunted train one. All scared me, and are now some of my favorite episodes. xD
Love the episode! The spooky episodes were always my favorites. Would you consider doing a video on, “The Pig War”? That’s a classic.
HAPPY SPOOKY MONTH SHAWN!
Another vid, I am glad to see it. I'll have to rest after this but it's a good way to end my night
OMG MY FAVORITE EPISODE 💯🤯
If Jack was making some kind of drug in the basement, I would assume alcohol distilling instead of meth.

I used to get chills by this episode, and I cried the first time I saw King ramses curse from courage.
If you really do plan to share it with us, I can't wait to hear about your haunted house experience

One of the best episodes.
Great commentary!

The end scared me to bits as a kid

Craig Bartlett really is great at writing Halloween episodes
I personally think jack may have been a moonshiner, a person that made booze illegally during prohibition. Just a thought i had but i could be wrong.
