My father was a fireman present at that fire from station #3 located on Marietta St. He and a group of others went either to a building on the side or around the back and laid a ladder across to the Winecoff Hotel to try and go in and get people out. In his later years he said he thought he was the first one to crawl across the ladder. But he never talked about the fire. What impact it had on him I never knew.
Well just like the titanic being unsinkable,I would assume that your asking for it to happen.Nothing is fireproof.Even today shit still happens.Nobody should ever say it's fireproof because just like I said they were asking for it.Sad but True.
Heard of the possibility, that it could of been arson. Did NOT know, 'bout the gambling game, prior. If it was arson, there's your answer. Some lowlife lost, a considerable sum of money💵. For payback, that person set the fire, a floor below the fire, and the game. Makes sense🤔⁉️
I have framed original envelops and stationary in my office of the Winecoff. I loaned it to the gathering of family members in celebration of life for the victims......Absolutely fireproof clearly on the stationary and envelopes........when I went to pickup my framed items a fire alarm went off.....it was like the souls of those lost were reaching out...I kid you not...
MaxVonStark that sounds like an experience. I am writing a story about the Winecoff Hotel Fire and the claims of it being haunted. I would love to interview you about this particular experience. Do you live in Atlanta? Please let me know. Any assistance will be great, as this story I am producing is for my final project for graduate school.
@@IAmLydiaJade_ I am from Atlanta but now live in Dublin where my grandmother was born and raised. I would love to help you with this and tell the story of my framed historical documents and my experience when taking it to the Hotel.......send me an email at jchjrcpa@gmail.com and we will go from there.....
Dana Danarosana That would be bad for business at Bally’s. Modern day tourists are unaware of the calamity and don’t want to be reminded of death and devastation while on vacation to relax in Las Vegas. The only marker is a memorial to the handful of casino service workers who died in the fire. It is located in a union hall, not in public view.
Ryan Neidlinger hi there. I am doing a story on the winecoff hotel and would love to interview someone who lived during this time or remember anything about the news from this tragic event. Would you be willing to assist with answering some questions about what you remember?

Jeez if America threw up a memorial every time something tragic happened here we would be tripping over them.
