Cycle Touring California: Big Sur's Old Coast Road and Wild Camping (4K)

If you can tear yourself away from the views on Highway 1, Big Sur’s 16-km (10-mi) Old Coast Road is a fun way of mixing things up when cycling the California coast. But with steep, winding tracks through ranches and redwood forests, be prepared for it to take a few hours! After finally making it to the end of the Old Coast Road, I continued along Highway 1 at sunset until I found an abandoned track to camp on. This day was part of a 1,000-km ride from San Francisco to San Diego.
