Had the same problem and Nobody knew what the problem was And dodge/Chrysler refused to do a recall even after all the complaints.I just got rid of it.
because of the location of the battery the harness becomes loose and in som cases like mine the positive has a poor comnectiin and doesnt start it can always be the wiring harness
Hey guys !!!! Had the same problem spent like $1,000 in mechanics and they never fixed it so i had to get hands on and one oday finally figured it out bye accident its not an extra ground wire to the motor cuz i did that and it worked a few times then the same thing but its something really eazy Takes you like 5 minutes !!!
Trick for you guys to see if it’s in the relay box . Pu it in neutral lock the emergency brake set to run then use your jumper cables and get some small alligator clips and attach them to the end of the cables do not skimp on electrical tape at connection point to keep from arcing and connect the negative to the negative on the starter solenoid and do not connect just touch the positive to the positive on the solenoid all your doing is bypassing the relay box and wiring harness if it’s one of those it will fire right up
The Neutral safety switch! A $1,300.00 repair through the dealership. Talk about repair scams, Dodge is the worst for recalls on this issue. This is a massive problem Dodge has and because of the cost to repair, Dodge should recall all of these cars for this problem

I'm having the same problems.. change starter 2 times, change out battery terminals, had battery checked 3 times, tried the extra ground wire, paid _$300 for new key fob, changes out starter n engine relay's after all this 1 1/2 later same thing happened. Won't start.
Hey guys i want to let you all know i finally figured it out on my own i tried everything even had that extra ground wire installed and new key fob and programming witch was almost $400 and other mechanics but i finally figured it out by accident i was fed up big time but just today was my lucky day its really easy takes like five minutes to resolve the problem had that problem for 4 months
Did your fix last? We replaced the starter, alternator and battery and it still had the same issue immediately. Within a week. Happening right now. My husband is about to tear his hair out.
I'm having that problem right now. A few days ago I went to start the car and it just clicked it didn't even crank. I kept trying and trying for a couple days nothing happened and then all of a sudden it started. I then drove it for about a week. Then one day I went to go unlock the door cuz I was going to drive the car and I got nothing my five key wouldn't even work to unlock the door. So so now where I'm at is nothing turning on I can put the key in to start it and nothing turns on
@@peterl6095 I had auto zone check my alternator and it's OK. I'm going to try to clean and tightn the battery terminals see if it helps. I'm regretting buying this vehicle from all your comments. Did you end up working with it or did you junk it?

@@CraftnMomma It is inside the transmission. I have ditched that Dodge Journey! Good riddance!

Did it work?
I just pulled the k3 fuse out and put it back in

hi i have the same issue... have you fixed ? (sorry for my bad inglish)
It's the Range sensor in the transmission. It's not seeing the car in Park. That's why going to neutral to park gets it to start sometimes

Try cleaning and tightening your battery terminals...wiggle them.a little then try to start it.
