- When you first notice the hematoma, go to store (Walgreens/CVS) to get medical tape. Then I get mine on Amazon...much cheaper.
To minimize ear the from popping out, the wrap must be from the neck all the way to the forehead.
I have a puppy that has a hematoma on both ears from rough playing with the other pups. I have looked everywhere for information on how to threat this at home because unfortunately I don't have the money to take him to the vet. I just wanted to tell you thank you so much for the helpful information. I was losing my mind trying to go through all of the information. So again thank you!!!!
Thank you for the information! Now I understand what's wrong with my dog's ear and what to do. I was afraid it would burst anytime soon! Thank you so much!
My dog would have that off inside a minute. They make a head wrap that goes over the ears and head that stays on, it's called "No Flap Ear Wrap".
Just takes too long to get them. The vet recommended it, but it would never arrive in her recommended time frame. I had to find a solution in the meantime.
This is a VERY helpful video! We had trouble keeping the covering on our dog...he kept pulling it off. This is funny but it really worked! We used an old sports bra to hold his ear in place and then taped around that when we had it in place. Works just great!
I used preparation h for 2.5 weeks and ear hematoma went away. i also used a neck gaiter for the first couple days to stop him from shaking his head. i am really surprised that the recommendations have all pointed to surgery. i guess it pays the bills.
man prep h makes a lot of effn sense. seriously thanks for recommendation
Rub it on the ear I imagine?
Has your dog had any more problems with using the preparation h
My vet did aspiration on my 4 month old indie pup..as he had a little sized haematoma on his right ear. Bu overnight, it came back. I was sad and crying, prayed god and came across your video. But again I had to take him to other vet as i was not sure about wrapping and he gave medications. He said that wrapping is not necessary at this stage.
But it's been almost 5 days, i now ordered for the pet wrap tape and i am gonna do this to my pet now. Hopefully, it heals very soon
Thank you so much!. Since lockdown, public transportation services are snail paced due to employment layoffs to where I won't be able to take my dog to the vet to get the help he needs with his aural hematoma. Pet parents have another role in their furbabies lives: domestic vets
Wrap is way to tight...dogs need air!
Hi I am having the same problem with my Rottweiler in one ear. I like your idea but it looks awfully tight on your fur babies head and neck. I’m sure you don’t leave her ears taped too tight 😊🐶
That looks sooo tight holy shit
Probably busted the dog ear drums lol
They make a hat to go around your dog's head made for a hematoma. It's more like a piece of elastic with two velcro straps that goes around the head and holds the ears down. Everyone should educate themselves about this before it happens to your dog.
If your dog experiences this, and he/she is not in good health or older, surgery is not an option. Correction of the ear hematoma is using an Auralsplint. No anesthesia and no surgical wounds. Also very cost friendly.
Please provide details how to purchase it
I hope by now you realize that type of wrap stenches and tightens like a rubber band!
Thankyou great vid. my dog (standard Poodle) has a huge hematoma also. I found out he has grass allergies. Your technique looks good & I'm doing it to my dog. We had it drained but half came back. I think they hurt because he won't lay on that side. Medical tape, here I come.
After draining how long does it take to heal ?
Thank you so much bc i was about to have a panic attack over this.
Thank you
I see this is an old video, but my dogs hematoma is so fat we can't lift her ear up to wrap it. We had the vet drain it for $227.00 only to have it come back. The vet said her ears were very clean and she no other problems. It's been about 5 weeks and we are at a loss as to what to do. The real kicker is our neighbor grabbed her ear playing around, and caused the hematoma.
good idea - but no need to wrap it so tight! You're just trying to keep the wrap on, not apply pressure. Poor pup.
You ARE trying to apply pressure - pressure is what prevents the pocket from refilling with blood if it's first drained, and will help the body reabsorb the blood faster.
Thank you for the video! Very helpful. My dog just had surgery for this. 🙏👍 i thought rapping the ears would be a good idea and my vet said no.. Just let the ear drain? Hmm🤔
Did your dog’s body manage to absorb the hematoma? How long did it take? Did you have her ear drained first? Did your dog have surgery?
thanks so much for the info.
your dogs are sooooo cute!!!!!
$1300 ??? OMG!!!, I only paid $165 :)
idaho38 I paid $600 you got really lucky
I paid 400.
And the hematoma return in a Day
I paid $1400 at the hospital then a year later my dog has it in the other ear now trying to medical leeches
Thank you so much
Thank you 😊
Thank you so much!!!!:)
I work all day so the dog stays home alone.... I think by the time I get back from work the bandage will be removed. The wrapping is a good idea for those who stay home with their pets
Thank you !!!
The reason that the dogs shake their head so much is because they have an ear infection from ear mites. These infections irritate the inside of the ear and they either scratch with their paw or shake their head to get some relief. Sulfodene will kill the mites and flush out the wax.
Wrapping the dog's ears up allows air to circulate inside the eardrum this prevents ear mites from growing and causing ear infection. Sulfodene is a canine antiseptic for hot spots, it will also eradicate ear infections completely. Use once a month or whenever the dog has signs of ear infection apply just a drop on your finger and apply it in the ear canal. You will not need to flush out the ear wax it will flow out by itself. Just cut out the excess hair. There is no need to pull out the hair, it hurts the dog, try pulling out your hair. You will notice that the dog will stop shaking its head thus eliminating future hematomas.
My dog ear is swollen what can I do
@@georgeneuman8668 that is how I discovered sulfodene. My dog's ear was swollen and bleeding, I applied sulfodene and the very next day the swelling subsided and never had a problem since.
Is that wrap too tight around the neck.
Thk you
What if the dog has pointy ears? How do we wrap ? Thanks
i don’t know what to idk what’s happening but I came home from school and I was petting him under his ear and I heard a rattling noise so when he shakes it sounds like rattling or crackling
Your dog looks very uncomfortable 😳 poor thing.🥴
Thanks so much I'll do it to my baby dog now. I'm actually planning to drain her ear hematoma but i'm afraid bec if i bring her to vet it'll cost too much. But I'd rather do it by myself like what you did.
Don't wrap their ears like this it's cruel and too tight! They need air to their ears and Christ they could barely breathe with how tight it was.. put your dogs comfort before the cost! There's more considerate ways to wrap them
What if the hematoma absorbed in my six week old bull terrier but now her ear looks higher then other any advice
2 years on but can I just say YOU ARE wayyyy too heavy handed with that Q tip in their ears and don't ever wrap your dogs head like this it's clearly making them feel very uncomfortable and it will not help as pressuring the ears and they need air. I'm surprised they can breathe. Stop
its always allergies. flea trt, air pollutants, food... Clean diet on new food - home cooked. Turmeric tablets for dogs. Liquorice tincture, Aloe vera/arnica/tea tree gel. Phosphorus homeopathy. Phytopet Boost.
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge
Does the hematoma hurt? I just noticed it on my GS, he is not going to keep that bandage on. Will it be ok if I do nothing?
Can u tell me if your dogs hematoma healed?
My GS is also going through same problem 😢
@@sukuna4396 it doesn't hurt, he just have one bent ear. I rub it sometimes gently to make the blood circulate. They'll be fine don't worry about it, it's like a scar that might not go away😊
Thank you for replying.. I was really worried about it, Your answer calmed me down a Lil. 😊
I have the same problem my question is should I drain the ear and tape it or just tape the ear without draining. I keep reading that if I drain the ear the problem usually Comes back.
Did you try it? I thought mind was infection and lanced it but realized it was a hematoma. It was and I did it very clean almost sterile in the bath tub as I had supplies. It did come right back but wondering if I waited a while letting the pressure help stop the bleeding and then landed and wrapped if it maybe successful. I was also watching about it being inflammatory or Allergu response which I think is my dogs issue because we already deal with severe allergies. Another video here done by a vet had several natural things to try.
Same thinking about wrapping my dogs ear without it being drained
$1300?? Mine done yesterday for $200 for visit/consult exam/bloodwork prior to surgery. Then $ 530 for total surgery costs. Find better vet.
Hi I have the same problem but my dog would rip the bandage in a second because he’s pretty big and strong , do wrapping his ears like that wouldn’t be a solution . He’s also pretty old and I would rather avoid surgery.. Any Help please ?
Try putting a cone on him over the wrap, that's what I did with my pup and it worked :)
"No Flap Ear Wrap"
Did anything work?
Try using the sleeve of an old jersey wrist part covering the ear. It works. And use Arnica jel, it was all I had and it again works well. Was not keen on jabbing a needle in his ear or paying for someone else to jab a needle in his ear. It worked for me so hopefully it works for you.
$1,300 to pop a ballon you have to be jokeing?
Popping it and surgery is not the same thing. Draining is not too too expensive, but the problem is that they often come back. Surgery involves draining and sewing the skin back to the cartilege something like a quilt. Surgery is to try to close that pocket up so as it heals it will adhere back onto the cartilege instead of being loose.
My dogs left ear has the hematoma so if I do this there's a chance it might go away? Or how would I know if I noticed it to late to start doing this??
Did your dog ear ever get better I hear if dogs ear is left alone it will get better on its own
Sorry I thought you said 1300 dollars
You're not helping dog at all. And sounds like previous repair was done poorly. A properly repaired ear will not recur.
What type of bandages do you use?
Poor dog looks uncomfortable.
Thank you, very helpful. Btw, youre stunning.
Solution is noflapwrap.com
Check my video out I used medical leeches and it worked a treat
