Typical Vet on YT...giving us obvious information and not telling us 'how' to remedy the dogs problem, the hematoma. I've found on another site the following; (1) Traumeel - topical ointment cream - apply 2x to 3x daily. (2) Licorice Tincture - 1ml/40# dogs weight - apply daily for 5 consecutive days, then re-evaluate (3) 95% Curcuminoids - these are tablets & they're taken 2x/day and 100mg/10# of dogs weight. (4) Topical Curcumin - this is another type of cream. (5) Tea Tree Oil - mix a/b 5 drops of this w/ a 50% solution of Olive Oil. This last one is what i'm using on my dog - just discovered it today. I was lucky to find this information, since my YT Vets tell us a lot of information about 'what' the symptom is but NOT how to remedy it - They want you & I, to bring our animal in for surgery ~ good luck people, hoped this helps out for your precious animal . Btw, these (5) solutions for hematoma also applies to cats as well ~

Hi Doc. My dog got a hematoma about 8 weeks ago. It got to the point where the whole ear was filled with blood. My dog starting whimpering when it was touched. I ended up getting it drained at the vet, then drained it myself 2 more times over a few weeks. It kept filling up so I ended up getting the surgery done. After 3 weeks the stitches came out, and now 2 weeks later it has come back. My question is, if the hematoma takes up the whole ear, does it need to be treated any differently? Even though I know he will be in pain in the coming days/weeks, is it ok to leave it be? Thanks for any response in advance!

Ive left his ear alone for a few weeks now and it has stayed at a constant size and doesnt seem to be hurting him, so im gonna leave it. If you can leave it, I would. I know he's crying and whimpering, but I think its better ro leave it and wait it out. Just make sure he's as comfortable as possible. Id also reccomend getting a no flap ear wrap to keep it in place. Either that, or depending on the size of your pup you could take an ace bandage or what I did initially before getting the ear wrap, I cut a sleeve off a long sleeve under armor compression shirt.

I have seen this done at home and we have done this with a cat. used a syringe from the farm store and drained it, and also injected daily with PenG, according to weight. So the fleas have been real bad and guess what, my 10 yr old Lab Rott has it. She shakes her head a lot and scratches. We have drained it two days now and it keeps coming back. After doing some more research it looks like whether I drain it or the vet drains it, it will come back every day. The cat wasn't quite this difficult, and it wasn't WWF wrestling, either.

Saved me $2,300 the vet wanted for surgery etc!
Tips I suggest: use an ice cube to cold numb the dog's ear for a bit before the needle!
You must use a Small diameter needle/tip!
Use a flashlight against the ear, to see through the ear so you avoid any veins when placing the needle.
Possibly place the needle in like the center of the bulge sack.
Attaching the needle syringe might help suck out the liquid.

I read about it on the Internet and it was correct, it took a few months for this to clear up and go away. The ear reabsorbs the blood. The dog could have some disfiguration afterwards as well but that really didn't bother me. Mine is too old to be going under and I can't just drop 500$+ on an ear surgery that there is NO guarantee that it will fix it. My dog did not appear to be in any pain unless he was scratching his ear because it itched for other reasons. His ear is back to flat, but it isn't soft like it was before in that one spot, again, doesn't matter.

@Diehard Christmas Movie My dogs was warm too and soft. It was not an easy time and we had to keep him from scratching so it could heal... took several months but I felt confident that I was doing the right thing because I read so many places on the internet that it WILL absorb back into the body AND that the vet surgery is NOT guaranteed. Some experiences I read about, the owners ended up going back to the vet a couple of times shelling out $$$ for more than one fix and the dogs ear ended up being disfigured even then... its a very frustrating and slow process. Do some research of your own because ultimately its your decision.

Champ's Vlogs thank u so much for the reply. What ayurvedic medicine did u use? Could you please elaborate. My little furbaby has one in his ear. Is the ear completely normal or wrinkled? Happy your furbaby is doing fine.

@@giftykiruba1134 Sure.. Just to correct myself, it is a Homoeopathic medicine.. The Doc has gave 2 bottles of.. 1 is "20ml mother tinchure. Hamamelis Virg O" which is a liquid, 4 drops - 2 times a day.. & for 2nd bottle the Sticker has got some stains so name is not visible properly, however it says Arpuca, i guess, which look like small size sugar balls, smaller then black pepper.. 4 balls 2 times a day.. + last important step- Turmeric.. wild turmeric or normal powdered easily available.. take luke warm oil upto quarter spoon and add the turmeric, mix it and apply inside and outside of the ear 1 or 2 times a day when he is sleepy so that it holds.. apply a thin layer inside the ear to make sure the particles dont go in.. and clean his ear with a ear bud as you will see wax growing.. My dogs ear was like a baloon when i started this and it was back to normal in 30-35 days.. worth waiting then cutting the ear.. saw a surgery video on youtube and was horrified.. About wrinkles i can say i can say its just 2-3 percent of small part that i see now that is left to heal.. its normal, coz the skin takes time to compress back.. you can send me your email id.. i can send you the pictures of the bottles.. later will confirm you the name of 2nd bottle from VET..
      Thank you..
Take care of your pet.. God bless him..😊
My loads of love for him..🤗

Let it reabsorb on it's own. Much less traumatic to the dog.

BergenBergen BergenBergen you can let it resolve itself, however your dog will be in a fair amount of pain. Your dogs ear will become a “cauliflower ear”

Dr quack.. all about the damn money. I'd be poor vet because i couldn't charge money for little things such as this. My vet charges 47 bucks to drain my dog's ear. I drain it at home a little bit here and there. .until I can afford any surgery..

    • @MelodieOctavia

To answer your question, and anyone who has the same, it's not water, but Serum or Plasma. It's what your red blood cells are suspended in. If that's what is in the ear, it means it's a blister, or it WAS a hematoma, but it has since clotted and is on the mend. Most likely, it's a good thing.

And according to my research, there is NO guarantee from the vet surgery either. I didn't drain it, I let the body reabsorb the blood as I had read because yes, it will keep filling

Why do people keep pushing Apple Cider Vinegar as some miracle cure it all? ACV very acidic in comparison to dog skin and can cause burns. At the very least, balance the PH with Baking Soda and make sure you use some kind of tool to control for the right PH which should be around 7-7.5 for dog skin.
