SETTING UP CAMP IN KEY WEST, NEW GEAR FOR VAN, YOU WON'T MISS THE "STUFF" (van life travel vlog)

- After arriving on the epic Keys Florida road trip to Key West and Boyds Campground, I got the van set up in the campground (a tent site) and my packages were waiting for me. These packages are the new gear for the van that help with sun, relaxation, and all those bug bites! I'm thrilled to be here in Key West and just relax in my new Nemo Stargazer chair by the water with my dog Lily. It's a marvelous day here in Key West and intend to enjoy my time to its fullest here.
Van life afforded me the ability to stay a little cheaper here in Key West by selecting a tent site where my RV will fit into the camp space really well. No hookups though, which I really needed because it was so hot!

Hi, I'm Amber and in May 2017 I started full time RV living. I started this nomadic journey after selling my house and all my belongings to pursue this crazy dream of traveling full time in an RV and creating incredible memories.
After 1 year of traveling, I sold my 26 foot Winnebago Class C RV for a more nimble Class B van on a Promaster 2500 chassis. Now in my 4th year of RVing in my camper van, I'm still loving this RV lifestyle and being a digital nomad. I almost always boondock in nature and really enjoy that off grid living.

I’m really enjoying “our” trip to Key West! I sat here this morning in the chilly PNW sipping my coffee and enjoying turquoise waters and a balmy salty breeze with my toes in the white sands of Key West. I so appreciate you sharing your journey with us. I also subscribe to the ‘What will I be thinking about on my death bed’ approach to life. It sure as hell won’t be the grueling hours I spent aging at a desk in front of a computer at my stressful job. I retired at 56 just a week ago. Time to make real memories now!

Amber, I have been following your channel from the beginning of your journey. Tonight's vlog brought me to tears. You're right about material things...at the end of the day material things will not matter. It's the memories of those special people, moments, stories that live within us.
I have worked in longterm healthcare for 40 years and the people I have the honor of serving come into the world with nothing and leave the world with nothing, memories are all we have, good or bad.
This year working healthcare has been the most emotional year throughout my career. I have a 25 motorhome, which I travel in every chance I get. I'm now thinking of quitting me job and hitting the road to make as many memories as possible.
Thank you for your fantastic video. How you manage to give us daily vlogs amazes me, but I'm always so thankful for them. You and Lily brighten my life 😊

The chair is Awesome!!! Having a person in your life can be wonderful, horrible,and all of the emotions. But you have Freedom to do what you want a partner will pull you down I've been married for 37 years and have 2 grown sons and 6 grandchildren Love All of them with all my heart I would lay down my life for all of them but they hold me down my husband is sick he's a invalid, my sons are afraid for me and my grands need me for everything. Now don't get me wrong it's also been a blessing too so there is no one way and no really win except my husband loves me unconditional and accepts the fact that I'm overweight and at one time I was 398 lbs. Now only 200 lbs So think hard choose wisely God has a partner for you pray for him I did 🙏❤💗

But I decided to enjoy my life. I’m Happy to announce my van is almost done. I still work part time but I’ll be chasing my dreams.

Everything in life is a trade. As far as relationships or no relationship, yes you have the freedom to go where you want but in a good relationship you still would see your top bucket list but now also see his. When you love someone you get happiness seeing them happy. Your friend seems to be justifying being alone. I am not in a relationship now but would rather have someone to experience my joy with and those difficult traveling circumstances with. Especially when you are older and you start to lose your health a little bit at a time. I think the couples I watch traveling together are the luckiest of them all. Laughing with someone and creating a strong connection sharing their day to day experiences together unlike a separate 9 to 5 job or career.
Peri 😊 oh yes, I'm not saying I want to be without love...I do want it for sure, but with the man that truly loves me for me and all of me....gray hair too..lol. My friend was joking a bit, because he knows the last couple of relationships and how it affected me with my business too. Kind of my fault too when I let that get in the way and not take of myself. He means well.

I watch you every day, you are such an inspiration. I envy your life, but I am a homebody and 69 years young and a very large family. I lost my partner of 13 years in 2020. I am currently doing ok but want do to some traveling. Don’t know what to say on this public site other than I am blessed in so many ways as you are too. Enjoy your time in the keys!
It’s great seeing you at such a beautiful place and fully embracing it. Today I’m very raw and emotional and your message about not everyone gets to live their dreams really strikes home. I’m thinking of the lovely Lee LacMillan who succumbed to depression and took her life at only 28 years old, there was a mass shooting last nite close to where I live and 4 are dead including a 9 year old boy, the recent killings in Atlanta Georgia where 8 were killed and in a Colorado grocery store where 10 were killed, all occurred in March. All senseless tragedies that remind us to be present, appreciate our blessings, and be sensitive and helpful to those suffering from mental illness or depression. Your tears just made me think of all the pain of the loved ones of those that gone are feeling. I don’t men to be a downer just sharing what your video made me feel. Thanks for the reminder once again to live our best lives because not everyone gets to. Stay safe and healthy and happy travels 🐶🚐♥️
I just want to tell you how much I enjoy your channel. I found you when you where in Texas during the storm. Go figure a storm that tracked havoc also created opportunities for many to look at their personal stories. I am also empathic, most empathic people are psychic. Please know that the mindset of being” I am an empath” can be very disempowering. empath stake on interstate pain an emotional stiff. Sometimes to the point that it can cause stress, anxiety and a barrage of mental health issues that can cause severe heath issues. You give so much but taking on to much of others stuff as an empath keeps one from standing in their truth and power. I know how hard it is to control the energy e take on but we must learn to exercise that muscle and become very discerning. Learning what is your and not your is detrimental to you spirit, body, mind and soul. That is why “ empathy” get into dysfunctional relationships often with narcissistic people. Allow your self to feel the good feels and as an “ empathic “ woman you are standing in your power , truth and separate what is not yourself from others “ baggage “ ( i guess we can call it that be use baggage is a broad term lol)
I felt your tears of gratitude and also pain that others can’t or don’t get to experience what you do and have. You convey your love beautifully. I lived in Florida for a part of my life. Key west is magical and Naples is beautiful as well. I i could leave my home right now I would go to the Keys for a good bit before a venture to the west coast of Florida
You are soooo right. The stuff means nothing unless you are enjoying the item. When your gone- what value does it add to the world.

Please please don’t give up on having a male companion you just take your time and when you are not looking he will be their and will accept you for who you are all the others are just a test, that’s it ( it was only a moment in time) of your adventures own it, learn it and then move on and move ahead. Sharing your adventure with us is the best time for me until I’am in that spot of being on the road. Be safe out their.

Good morning :). I've always known I was different and could "feel things" deeply. I never want for friends and people court my friendship. People seem to want me to listen to them and they tell me too much. I noticed this as a teenager and now I'm in my early 60s to learn I'm an empath, happy there is a name for it. I have set boundaries this past year like never before or "they" will send me to my grave. Looking forward to the rest of my life with those who give as well as receive and truly love and respect me. You are doing fine, just fine and you made the right decision. Soon I'm getting out of this chair, hitting the road (me and my Chi) traveling from relative to relative. Yes, decision made! I can't wait!

HI Amber, Much has happened since you met Judy and me with our Oliver in a western Walmart parking lot. Your mention of yearning for a companion to share your travel memories is understandable but as you have found, often fraught with problems. Even being married over forty years is no guarantee of 24-7 bliss when on the road. Well after full timing for two years we were excited when we heard our only child and his wife were expecting. They were relocating to Houston and we jumped at the chance to buy a home close to them and offer babysitting services. So though our time to travel has been curtailed a bit we still have a pacific northwest trip coming up this summer. Thanks for all the nice videos and see you on the road. BTW there is a nice fish market across the street from Boyds and they give a discount for Boyds customers

I have never and will never have wealth LOL. I have had enough to get by sometimes with more struggles than other times but I have always, always been grateful and HAPPY in my life and will continue to have happiness as that is what I CHOOSE in life and someday (hopefully sooner than later) I will have more freedom to be able to do more that will make me happy! Thanks for sharing your stories and experiences - definitely makes me want to start on my adventures ASAP! still tweaking my plans to be able to start sooner if only on weekends LOL. THANKS again!

I did weekend recreation adventures with total and partially sighted folks who just wanted to get out and experience life...
the adventures were fun, wild and rewarding ...ex.: letting a blind pal drive a beach moped while being the sighted guide
on back...teaching a blind friend to play pool in a bar...wild and crazy yes but totally doable...Cheers from Maine.

Great video...thank you for sharing your journey with us. As a Medium, I had to learn how to turn down the 'empath' gift as it caused me to be an emotional wreck. In your meditation you can ask your Guides to turn your gift down to 50 (from 100) like a volume dial; that's if you choose to. All your gifts can be turned up or down.

I love my Nemo Stargaze chair and I found that my little fold-up step stool works great as a foot rest. Just watch out that the shock-corded legs don't pinch a finger when you're folding it up and a leg section decides to straighten itself back out again. BTDT - ouch - blood blister!

Amber, thank you for sharing. You think so much like I do. You are out there doing what I want to do with all my heart. I did buy a van (Chevy Express 2500).... going to build it out and do short trips until I can go full-time. I want to go to the keys as well. This Christmas I think I told you I am going to be camping on an Island here in Florida. I love that chair.... going to have to put it on my wish list. I have been wanting a rocking chair and it looks so comfy.
I just dream about van life. Im a 77 year old married woman who has always had the dream. Unfortunately, my husband is not interested, so I dream and travel with people like you. By the way, I’ve had that chair for over a year and I love it. I do have trouble with the rods in the back, so I just fold it flat. I put the legs in the bag and off I go. When you go through Maryland let me know. I would love to meet you in person. ❤️🤗🙏

You are right about the Nomadland craze. I did an interview with a Kansas City TV station about full time RVing. (A former student is a news producer there.). I made sure to explain that everyone out here has a different story and mine is not like that in Nomadland and that people should really do a lot of research before making the move. (Oh, and thanks for the link to the USB fan. I was JUST researching for one.)
That good ocean salt water will help you heal those bites . Make sure to soak for a good while in that water. Just watch and see how fast those bites heal 👌🏽... ❤️
