Thanx 5th floor! Appreciate that a lot. I think its really hard to do a camera justice in a 15 minute video and after only using it for a week or two. Theses tools are so complex and have so many a features. They also perform differently under different settings and situations. Anything you want me to try out on the pocket?
@@ArberBaqaj Yes, that sounds like a TON of work, but for a novice like me, that would help me at least guess where I should start. THANK YOU for this video though, it does give me some things to think about. Very interesting.
If you were purchasing your first set of lens for shooting informative videos which should be my best choice? (best all around lens) New to the video game. II will be getting the BPCC 4K
I agree with the comments adressi ng the lack of example footage and area of use for each lens, considering you are recommending priced lenses. I think that would really boost your views. Other than that I think you present good content and perfect lighting. 😉
Thank you Arber. For filming wildlife I'm guessing the 12-60 zoom Lenz would be good. The 100-400 sounds great as-well. I Imagine it be good for filming seabirds? as they are not easy to get close too.
Which lens should I get? I'm just starting out in photography and light cinema. I have no hands on experience with "mm "and the "f" language yet. But I'm getting the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 4k to just shoot fun stuff. Thanks for your reply.
I sold my GH5 body to get the BMPCC4K. (Which arrives tomorrow!). I currently have the Pana-Leica 25mm f1.4 and the 12-60mm f2.8-4 lenses. So, I'm ready to go. But, I will be picking up the 20mm f1.7 and the 42.5mm lenses you mentioned here. Plus, I'm looking at Rokinon Xeen lenses for more prime lens choices.
I really enjoyed this video both informative and visually. I would like to recreate the effects but you mentioned you used the Zeiss lens to make it but you showed 2 lenses so not sure which one to purchase. I have a BM4K, if you can provide what mounts and which specific lens that would be very helpful. I know this post is old so hopefully you see this msg.
Well for the Pocket 4k there is only one touch focus available Im afraid, but the native panasonic lenses have AF, not the Zeiss and not the veydra or Meike, with a speedbooster you do get AF at times but its not that good =)
Hello! I'm trying to decide what wide angle I need for the blackmagic pocket 4k. I shoot primarily yoga classes and lectures. I'm tall and often have to shoot in smaller rooms. Can you advice? Thank you so much.
Hi, Arber great Video. I bought the Panasonic Leica 42.5 1.2 lens, a great lens by the way, for my bmpcc4k. the manual aperture ring doesn´t work with this camera is this right. Btw the image stabilisation also doesn't work. Pls look in the menue it is greyed out !!! Is it the same at your lens ?thank you for an answer. br dirk ***update*** the image stabilisation works but in in the menu it is greyed out, but i tested it it works. The aperture ring is not working
Since you already have the viltrox, I think a Canon standard zoom with IS would be a good alternative to the Leica 12-60. I feel like the IS on Canons lenses works even better for video. Would like to see an OIS test with the Leica tho...
Thanx! It’s in the final stage. I had it almost finished but then I asked people here and on FB one what they would like to see and I got so many great answers so I have to do some more shooting. But it will be out in a couple days.
This is very informative! Thank you! Which lens would you recommend with the bmc4k when using only for online/ zoom meeting presentations, sitting behind my desk?
Hi Arber nice Video as ever. So i have a question. Yesterday i put on the panasonic 12-35 mm 2.8 v.1 on my bmpcc 4k because i need some footage with the wide angle 12 mm. I cant believe what i saw a very strange vignette at the edges. Is this the dowbside of this lens or is something wrong with my bmpcc4k. Thank ypu for an answer. Br from Germany Dirk
i agree with the manual focus , Panasonic 's manual focus on my brand new 35 -100 mm f, 2.8 is horrible compared to Olympus lens i have the 12-40 mm f2.8
Received my BMPCC4K yesterday and played a lot with it. It's supposed to be an addition to my GH5 which I love use a lot. Most of my lenses (mostly Olympus Prime and my some really awesome Canon glass) is not stabilized, which is a real pain in the a** on the Blackmagic. BUT ... I'm still blown away about the picture quality of it ... can't wait to shoot my first project with it. :) BTW: Great information on your channel. I really like it a lot!
thanx for the feedback! What you wright is totally true. It is a pain shooting when nothing is stabilized. I also use the BMD side by side with the GH5. I’m really curious to see how it stands up to the GH5s that I have in for a review. The olympus lenses are really nice also but hopefully they will start implementing IS on more and more lenses. Cheers from Sweden!
It sure is. I just made a video on the BMPCC 4K with more budget lenses (and vintage lenses). The Lumix 25mm f/1.7 is one of them. And actually quite nice. Check it out: ua-cam.com/video/g0Mh7V1zU8U/v-deo.html
Awesome that you got a working Viltrox booster, myself and and 2 others I know have them and they all have the same problem - they do not autofocus, and the manual aperture dial is non-responsive. Hats off for the Veydra love though, they're great lenses. Have you tried the Mieke 25mm or 16mm cine lenses? It seems as though they are made from the same Veydra optics in China
You mentioned the Panaleica 12/1.4. I am considering this lens for travelling and landscape videography. But I have also heard that heavy barrel distortion makes this lens unusable without in-camera correction. What is your opinion?
You mentioned the manual focus being really bad on the 12-60, could you rate the other lenses in usability for manual focus? Which ones are the best? If you were starting out with a first lens, which one would you start with?
I bought this 8-18mm Leica lens and it creates very bad barrel distortion. It does not have when i tried with a GH5, which i think it corrects electronically. But with BMPCC 4K, it is useless.
What do you think about the Takumar 50 mil vintage lens ? I'm intersted in it for interview work but as well creative work. I've also been told it adds a lot of flavor in comparison to the Sigma 18-35 lens

I agree with you on the Sigma, too, such a workhorse and so versatile.
I wanted your opinion on if you were to shoot a narrative film would you use the Zeiss lenses or the Sigma 18-35mm? I was looking for some lenses to pair with my pocket cinema camera
The sigma is a great tool I have to say! Can’t go wrong with that, nice and sharp and optically clean. The Zeiss Planar have so much character and every focal length has its own look. If I had to choose one it would be the Sigma because of its versatility
Nice rundown. Sucks that you can't find a native mft zoom lens with mechanical focus. I hate fly-by-wire. It makes trying to manual focus in run & gun situations so imprecise and annoying. I would guess the majority of people using mft LUMIX and similar cameras are using them more for video than photography, so why are none of the native zoom lenses designed for video use? Lame.
Hi! I know it's been a while since you uploaded this video. I wanted to know if you were able to control aperture for the sigma and Zeiss planars through the viltrox focal reducer? I have the same set up but just change aperture through the body on any of my canon lensss

Hi I have Panasonic GH5 For what kind of work you pick Zeiss planar lens 50mm 1.4 with speedbooster before Leica 42,5 1.2 Which is better choise for GH5 ? Thanks for feedback..
Even though the two setups have similar focal range they are quite different. The Panasonic is sharp wide open which the Planar isn’t by far. It also flares like crazy. The Planar har a very (strange/lovely) bokeh. With the GH5 I would prefer their 42.5 by far. It’s great for photo, har IS and is sharp from the start. The Planar is great for getting a “Planar” look. Hope that helps!
@@ArberBaqaj nothing in this range is better than the all metal design of zeiss glass. The micro contrast depth rendering of the image. Sharpness isn't important. sure, sharpness competency but hyper sharp lenses like sigmas, not with 4k needle sharp video. Micro contrast. My zeiss collection has me regretting playing with other lenses.
I think so. I don't have zeiss lenses. but as a user of sigma 18-35 : sigma art is too sharp. too much contrast. we get not smooth gradient from black to white. and loose the dynamic range.
You are right, sometimes it is a problem choosing the right gear in fact. But at times we can be using 2,3 and for cameras and then we need many lenses. We actually have even more lenses that are not mentioned in this video.

I have lots of MFT lenses. And they all take ND Filters WTF! :D
JS_filming true! I meant to say super wide angle lens, that’s the only one which takes filters
I assumed he meant wide angle but the laowa 7.5mm takes filters too.
True True!
Zeiss. Zeiss. Zeiss.
Do not mess with sigma f.art lenes.
The Sigmas are also great, I have the 50, 35 as well :)
I think so. I don't have zeiss lenses. but as a user of sigma 18-35 : sigma art is too sharp. too much contrast. we get not smooth gradient from black to white. and loose the dynamic range.
without the sample footage this is just a narcissist with a lens collection problem =P
You are not totally wrong, I will have that in thought for next upcoming videos.
Actually 😄
What do you think about Rokinon Cine DS lens?
Hi Medo! I actually have used so I don’t know I’m afraid
This video is basically useless without sample shots
You are right, I will do that the next time!

Yes I saw that, Ive been testing it out the whole morning. Video out soon! thanx
talking about a lens does nothing to sell it.. you need to show the images shot with them!
Oly 12-100 f.4 only lens U’ll need. + sigma 18-35 and you’re done.
Yes I have had my eyes on that Oly! The only thing about those two is the big size...
Arber Baqaj would you need a mount adapter for those two lenses?
You quit doing videos
10 lenses is far too wide of a range why not just add another 5 lol narrow it down man
You are right, sometimes it is a problem choosing the right gear in fact. But at times we can be using 2,3 and for cameras and then we need many lenses. We actually have even more lenses that are not mentioned in this video.
You’re right. Should pick oly 12-100 f4 . One lens for 99% situations
How you gonna do a lens video and not show footage from each lens? Cmon bro. Bad juju.
