UPDATE In the video I made a mistake and said I preferred and use the 0.64x over the 0.71x. In fact it is the other way around. Sorry!

Correction. The lens adapter I use and recommend is actually the 0.71x which you can find here: bhpho.to/2Ft8A7P
NOT the 0.64x like I say in the video. Confusion on my end resulted in the mistake. Sorry! I don't want anyone to get the wrong one. Yes the 0.71x is the one I use in most of the shots in this video and it works great but it does vignette slightly with some APSC lenses. Still it works. The 0.64x will ONLY work with full frame lenses.
Strange that you dont mention the much much much cheaper Viltrox ef-m2 instead of the Metabones, since you are always so budget friendly.... It gets very good review everywhere. Oh and if an adapter vignettes with SOME apsc lenses, its likely the lenses fault. I would go for fullframe lenses anyway, since you then always stay in the centre of the image circle, which is always the sweet spot, even on cheaper lenses.
Seriously? And you don't "like" it because it's not for aps-c? Duh.
Tom Antos Thanks I was going to buy😇
Hello Tom ,so adapter 0.71x will work with lens 18-55mm APS-C ?
@Neil Mo Not in Canon DSLR. I only have one Canon DSLR left and it's only a prop on my camera shelf
haha i like the last tip "STOP COMPLAINING"
I'd really like to stop watching, but then youtube somehow autoplays this crap
@@Designguidetv Glad you liked this video. Check out my website. Lots more crapamazing stuff there!
@@TomAntos so the camera can take photos? That would be great for me, even if it's not "the best photo camera". I could not find any info about taking photos with that camera
spoilers
Thanks Mr. Antos! :D what i really appreciate in your videos and productions is that you both deal with low end and high end equipment equally and you always manage to find the best affordable solutions for your fans and viewers, keeping in mind all it’s shortcomings and benefits.
This video was absolutely amazing but it was worth the wait till the end to hear you tell everyone to get a photography camera for photos instead of using this for photos. Finally someone said it. Well made and thank you for your work!
You make the best videography videos IMO. Very detailed, ways to save money, and honest- amongst many other great qualities. Thank you
I’ve seen 100 videos today and this was by far the most helpful. Much appreciated.
I watched so many reviews of this cam, but yours was really dynamic and instructive, very pleasant to watch though I don't have this cam
Thank you Stephane
Hi Tom,
Huge thanks for the video! These fixes are an immense help. Just invested in the BMPCC 4K after binging on _hours_ of youtube videos and sorting out 4K v. 6K v. 6K Pro. I'm a dinosaur from the Canon EOS 5D MK2 and MK4 era.. this is my first venture into a dedicated cine camera. Truly looking forward to the learning experience - this pushes me out farther on the learning curve.
Many thanks.
Cheers, mate!
Hello. How is ur Bmpcc 4k? Any projects?
Been watching camera videos all day. I liked your sensibilities and vibe the most! Great vid!
Thank you for this, very thorough and I like that you exhausted options for each item you tested.
Blackmagic PAKET cinema camera :) I love you Tom
Hahaha I try to keep it unique. 👍 Thnx
The PAKET is a great camera BRAW!
Do a short film with the camera please!
Thanks for all these informations , because I just got my BMPCC 4K yesterday 🙃
Another great video, Tom. I still don't have my BMCC4K from B&H. I did order the Moza Air 2, extra batteries and the XLR adapter today. You've been a huge help.
Great video Sr. Thank you for sharing ...I am actually looking forward to buy this specific camera and appreciate all the information you packed into this episode... Cheers from Mexico!
Loving the last tip with the fotocamera! Haha how can anyone complain that, with a little bit of thinking about that. Again appreciate for your recommendations. Like them a lot.
Haha... yeah i heard a lot of complaints about how its not as good at taking photos as Sony A7III
Tom Antos Haha oh man that’s ... well let’s say funny. It’s so much better to have a camera specialist in just video or just photography. I have the 7R2. And it drives me crazy to switch all the settings from foto to video or opposite.
Thx Tom as always great insight for film making
Well done Tom, I have the same problem with the Samsung SSD not being recognized most of the time. Hopefully addressed within the next firmware release, but a royal pain.
Always a pleasure to watch your videos. Great information!
Thanks!
Hi Tom, thank you for this great info. You are a prince among'st men.
Thankyou for this Tom ,presently weighing up buying this camera for the punch and price. All these fixes are super helpful.
Great and informative video. Thanks so much! I think I'm going to pick one one up, most of the places online say that it is on back order and will probably ship April.
Great information! Funny to see you actually demonstrate what not to do (plugging in and out with camera on). Good stuff! Hopefully we see more from you.
Hi Tom, I think this is one of you best ever videos. Short and to the point. The monitor section is very useful for me. Thanks. BobUK.
Thanks Robert! Glad I was helpful.
Awesome video, thanks! My new BMPCC4K arrives in Feb and thanks to your video here, I will be prepared to solve these problems in advance! Great job to you and those other folks! :0)))
thanks for the intel TOM always awesome in the info of the filming hardware
Great Video you are the best. I have a question What about autofocus or focusing in general? I heard in this camera autofocus is really bad. Can you do a video about How to focus BMPCC 4k?
Tim I'm a bigginer film/photography/actor/dancer/singer/writer. And you've tough me so much with everything you do, my favorite film of you're is "Actors life" and I have always been wondering about what equipment I should get you've helped me so much, but the only thing is I have a tricky budget! I have about "250$" so do you recommend anything to me? I love you and you're one of my favorites!!!
Always a great video. Very practical. Thank you.
Nice video and the beautiful grading !! I wouldn't call them problems though, more aspect that can be improved.
People have so much to say about this camera haha. Been using it for 4 months now and still can't find a better camera for that price. Cheers
Yes it's not a perfect camera... than again no camera is. Right now though it's my favorite. I now barely even touch my RED or URSA Mini cameras.
@@TomAntos Yeah it is pretty incredible !!

Blackmagic has to know this is a trend - I wonder what they're gearing to do for the next 10 years.
Excellent video with excellent resources links. Thanks a lot Tom.
Tom, ur an EXCELLENT artist, and the delivery in ur vids is second to none, i rarely ever do this, but i shall be slipping a few quid to ur patreon account.
thanks for valued information bro, have a nice day
Fantastic video Tom. Really appreciate your tips and suggestions. Thanks so much. What about Matt Box and high capacity drives for longer storage recordings?
Great Tom, as always! Thank you!
Tom, great video. Here after hearing about the 6k version and just wondering between the two.
Thank u sir for guiding us on black magic camera
Really good and helpful video.
Excellent and honest review!
Thanks!
Thank you Tom this video is very helpful
Tom, you've basically hit the nail on the head; the take out is to adapt. Nothing is ever perfect, so make the most of the strengths and work around the weaknesses. And in this case, the strengths far outweigh the weaknesses.
Yes... the main strength for me here is the image quality. Everything else I can work around to fix it.
Hey thanks for linking my video with the work around for the SSD issue. Could have dodged some criticism by not unplugging with the camera on. Obviously don't do that 🙃
Loved this... Talking about issues and actually providing help/education is the way forward! My tip for lack of Ibis is to use a tripod ;)
Good work!
I concur with the tripod tip. We need not fear the locked-off shot.
Yes, I agree with you. People need to rediscover the tripod....all we see these day's is gimbals, gimbals, and more freaking gimbals!!!!
Yes, I forgot of the most basic but best advice. Tripod! Thanks! Also thank you for sharing your discovery with the SSD connection fix.
Very nice video! Thanks Tom!
Fantastic video Tom.
Very informative! It seems all the accessories get more expensive than the camera itself!
Photography tip was the best 😂 Definitely going to invest in this camera
Great information!!
Really good video! Thank you! Subscribed😊
Amazing video with a lot of useful information! Thanks mate! :)
Truly helpful, Tom. Haven't received mine yet, but I'm eager and optimistic. Those fixes are welcome information.
Regarding the lens adapter, I bought a used Speedbooster for 380 USD that works like a charm on a Lumix G7. I'd advice people using adapters to go down that route too, there are many on the market.
Cheers
Great thinking. I also buy a lot of gear used. You can save a lot of money that way.
Great video and great tips, thanks! Would love to see a comparison between the Ursa Mini 4.6k (/pro) and the pocket 4k.
Good video, Tom.
Thank you, sir! That was great video! Very useful!
thank you for your nice video with nice information, please make a video about how you can best focus on the BMPCC 4K for example with the DJI follow focus motor
groovy video dude, i like it. much good suggestions.
great info especially the battery links
Awesome video!
Thanks for the tips!
This was great sir!
Awesome Video...thanks 👍
Very informative. Thank you.
great video thank you!
i like the way of your explanation, straught forward, clear, very informatif and not talk too much like the other youtuber hahahaha
You give me hope for grabbing a Pocket 4k!!!
Great stuff. Thanks Tom
Loved that last tip
Subbed because of this video. Very informative
Wise decision 👍Thanks!
I looove the color grading !
Insanely great content as always!!!
Thanks Tony!
Thanks for the information. Very helpful.
You are welcome. Happy I was able to help
Love the comment about it not taking photos!
Great video. Thank you!!!
Awesome video thank you!!!
Great vid, thx man!
thx definitely try this if i get this camera
Thank you, Tom.
Excellent video
Thanks Tom ! 👍
Love the colors of this camera
Me too!
Another great vid.. I'm dying to get my hands in one of these one day. Plus the switch from my canon cams will be easy.
Why SWITCH??? I shoot this along side a C200 and it's perfect.
I cant wait no more. Im buying this little camera to start. then by buying the grandfather later. Watching this video made up my mind thank you!!
Tom your the man!
This is a great video thank you for posting! I was wondering where the town at 7:13 in your video is located? It's crazy perfect! Thank you.
Nice to see you using Samyang DS cinema lenses. I like them too.
I’m in love with that cage
Nice video I want this camera I hope by summer. If there was actual video done with one of those canon lenses I missed it. I will look through your other vids to see if there is some.
Great video! Super informative, and definitely learned a few things I haven't encountered with my pocket 4K yet. When did you film the dancing footage? I'm pretty sure you walked past my friend and I while we were at the Intrepid haha.
Great video!!! Definitely subscribed. I'm between the bmpcc and the gh5s for a cinema/wedding setup. Planning on putting it on a glidecam and using a speed booster.
One question, I understand that there is vignetting with the . 64 metabones adapter when using a lens like the Sigma 18-35 1.8, but would adding cinematic black bars on the top and bottom of the screen in post essentially hide the vignetteing? Or is it safer to go with a . 71?
Also what is your preference between the black magic and the gh5s?
Thanks!!
Nice job! Amazing bokeh!
Very good -- thank you. Leaning away from the GH5 after seeing this one.
Hi Tom, I’ve also heard a lot of people mention that they need an attachment to offset the camera for older gimbals, in my case the Moza Air. I believe there’s a certain kind of QR plate that needs to be added & wondered if you had a recommendation.
I like the focus effect of the Lensbaby Sol Lens.
It's a neat look. Definitely not for every project but great when used in the right moment.
Hey Tom!
Very cool video thank you for posting. I was looking for the Came-TV cage you have on the BMPCC but can't seem to find it. Any links? Thank you sir
Thx just joined the pocket camera family
Welcome brother to the club. Now time for initiation. Go film something awesome with it and then spread the love of the pocket 4K!
Oh snap, you were on Water Street in BK!!
Hi Tom
Great video but you didn't mention another problem with the BMPCC 4K is that it appears to be made of unobtainium as i cannot find a stockist in the UK that has these in stock they all seem to be on pre-order with no estimate of delivery. :-(
Very nice
I was really planning to buy this camera this year. I think it would be great for films, commercials, and even testimonials, but if you mainly do event shooting like me, I think it's going to suck - poor battery life, unreliable (may shut off for no reason), no flip screen. I don't want to add a bunch of accessories to make it work. Also having the option to shoot to ssd is great, but numerous people say it works sporadically. I may still buy it to try it, but I have a feeling it will get returned.
Great vid! I *love* your setup at 6'30''. Could you break down how the cage is setup, and what you have the monitor on?
Check out my latest video about my updated bmpcc4k rig
@@TomAntos Will do, thanks!
Q: Is the MOZA 2 able to interface with the BMPCC via USB to control start/stop, iris & shutter? I haven't been able to find this discussed elsewhere.
Thank you so much for a great video and set of recommendations! You help give me confidence that this can be a good run-n-gun set up.
