Thanks to viewer @Bikerider_in_Oz, he pointed out I neglected to mention the rear tire hugger I have on the bike. It's a Puig. The SW Motech saddlebags blocked my view....out of sight out of mind I guess.
I tour Europe on mine. It’s terrific and my second RS and my 47th bike since 1976.
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Great to hear from those with tons of experience on 2 wheels. The RS is an awesome bike, which is confirmed by the many seasoned riders like yourself that really like the bike and typically say the bike is really under-appreciated.
My 4th RS. 03 R1100RS, '03 K1200RS, '21 R1250RS, and my current '20 R1250RS.
In the UK, the yearly check is called the "MOT" (Ministry of transport)-£30. Yearly road tax for my 1200RS-£123. Great channel mate. 👍🏻
Thank you for stopping by the channel I’m glad to hear you like it. So your basic taxes are quite a bit more than here in Texas. Each state in the US is different in regard to what taxes they have to pay and how much they cost. Next year the R 1300 RS should come out are you happy with your 1200 or are you considering to upgrade to the new model? I’m probably going to stay with my 1250 for at least a couple more years currently I have 30,000 miles on my bike.
I thought you also had an aftermarket radiator guard.
30K so far on my '21 RS. I've ridden through Arizona desert and Wisconsin snow. My daily 30 mi commuter as well as my evening and weekend rocket. Haven't lost a stoplight race yet. Across country or town, I'm satisfied. Riding for 21 years, best all around bike I've ridden and best bike I've owned so far.
OEM sport seat (33.4", I'm 6'4")
OEM side cases and top case, w/liners (helmet fits in either left case or top case)
OEM alarm
Heltec bar risers
Evotech Performance radiator guard (2019+)
MachineArt Moto X-Head 1250 - cylinder head covers
MachineArt Moto MudSling R/RS - rear suspension cover
MachineArt Moto Light Bars, mounted to forward engine mounts
Denali D3 (x2) driving lights, mounted to light bars
Denali DM (x2), driving and turn signal lights, mounted to front fork on standoffs
Denali CANsmart controller
No I don’t have a radiator guard, but oddly I ordered one last week. Should be here soon. Thanks for sharing your bike’s details. 100% agree the RS is an awesome all around bike and the torque is quite fun.
I really like my 1250 RS but if you’re looking for real sporty go for the R1250R. Even less weight and more nimble. BTW the RT is not known as the
‘Police bike”, its the touring version of the R models (although it is the bike the police bike is based on). Glad you’re loving your bike and spreading the good vibes about the R1250RS.
My next video coming out tomorrow is me visiting BMW Demo Days. I ride the M1000XR, M1000R, R1250RT and the R18 B. Good times. Love that MXR
The RT is pretty much globally known as the Police Bike. Just like how a Crown vic was "the cop car".
@@LansaDiag I like the RT it’s comfortable, nimble and has fun loads of torque.
Love my 2020 RS. 51k miles so far
Thanks for watching and commenting. Seems you ride that RS just a little bit. 😜 It’s such a fun bike. My next video I visit BMW Demo Days and had so much fun riding four different bikes. Check out the ones I ride and my commentary while riding them.
I think you forgot to mention the Puig tire hugger you have fitted. I had one fitted to my 2020 RS but the bracket broke at the front mounting point after a high speed run (140ks +). Not sure why, could have been that the mounting bolt loosened from its torque setting. The instructions do say to check the torque every 1000ks.
I find the bike perfect as a sports/tourer. I recently did a 3000k, 7day tour and did not feel fatigued at the end of the day. I have ridden over a 1000k in one day and felt refreshed the next day. Did the same 1000k ride when I had a Moto Guzzi V7 Sport, took me a week to recover.
I have the BMW touring panniers and fit them when I do a longer tour, such as when I did the recent 7 day tour. The great thing about them is they’re easy to take off if you’re staying in an area for a while and want to go looking for the twisty roads. That said, I find having the panniers fitted doesn’t compromise the handling to much. Lean angles recorded with them fitted on the last ride was 41 degrees left, 39 degrees right. When not touring or going on shorter rides I fit a BMW Soft-bag 3 Small or the Soft-bag for luggage carrier, both are designed of cause to mount on the BMW luggage carrier fitted to the RS.
Like you I found the screen rattles, most annoying for what is supposed to be a premium brand.
The pod you have on the back of the bike, how is the fitted?
Yes you are correct I forgot the tire hugger. It is now blocked from view by the SW-Motech bags. I couldn’t make those trips you described. My back, hips and knees would be shot.
The pod is from Sargent. I really like it. It has the same under side as the passenger seat, so it clips in the same way.
Thanks for the comment and sharing your insights.
@@Texas2Tires "My back, hips and knees would be shot". Why I'm considering an RT
Did you try panniers? Find them easier to pop on/off than soft luggage and more secure. Your sw motech soft bags are good too though.
Very true, but they are about three times the price and too bulbous in my opinion. If luggage was a big concern for me, I probably would have bought an RT.
Nice, I run the SW Motech Pro Blaze saddlebags and their large Pro Tail bag on my 2023 R1250 R.
Great bags, good quality and well
Priced
I put my Chrome Cannon exhaust on the shelf and put on a black Arrow exhaust.
Nice, I heard the Arrow sounds great. What are your thoughts on the sound?
@ The Arrow sound is better than the gaudy giant shiny tin can, but I cannot judge against other after-market exhausts.
@@stephenscott6570 well better sounding and definitely better looking, sounds like a good investment to me. Enjoy the Ride and thanks for stopping by and checking out the video.
Hi, to you need a special adapter kit for the SW motech saddle bags or to they fit to the original BMW frame holder ?
They have their own hanging system. They don’t use the BMW hangers. No need for adapters. Love the bags they are a great value and look cool. 😎
Your videos keep getting better and better keep up the good work. Wow!, I pay over $200.00 for my tags in Ca.
Thank you for the kudos. I appreciate it very much. That’s too much money and why I live in Texas. But used to live in San Diego so not a surprise to me. Love SD, just too expensive
@@Texas2Tires I was having problems with my PC do you get any of my email I sent you?
nice to see all the things you have on your bike! That's a real touring sport now.
I don't like the bmw pannier, it sticks out too much and looks heavy.
Thank you for watching. I really like the SW Motech saddlebags
Panniers don't stick out any farther than the mirrors, FYI. They look bigger than they are, and are more secure for valuables than fabric. And having said this, they're still smaller than previous RS cases where I could fit a full Aerostich Roadcrafter one piece, helmet, and riding boots in top and side cases. No longer, sadly.
@@Pyrrho_ I've seen the spec sheet and took a picture myself. It will go from 890-920mm to 1,000mm with saddles.
I also filter throught traffic, might forget to adjust for my panniers lol
I've seen many trying to filter and their back gets caught and crashes.
@@kendelion OEM RS panniers aren't variable width, are you thinking of the BMW vario panniers? They don't fit.
155 plus GPS with top box OEM . Factory saddle bags look so much better than the SW stuff
The look of the panniers are certainly subjective and personal preference. However most people tend to think the BMW panniers are bulbous not to mention way over priced. They do offer better security that is for sure.
@Texas2Tires When you factor in design ( best off the bike look ) Weather proof , security , factory keyed the SHAD made factory cases are a deal . One can buy aftermarket Shad universal with RS mounts for 650 usd but they are again a universal solution not specifically modeled to look well with X machine.
I've done soft bags and their lifetime is short in comparison when used frequently. If one can afford a BMW then the extra 1k for factory bags is $ well spent when used .
Agreed if you are going to use them a lot and travel quite extensively especially through different types of weather hard cases are definitely superior.
@@bryanlarrimer138 I'd like to see the video of the 155 mph (GPS) run. Of course you have some mods right?
RT for touring, RS for sport
Do you have one of these bikes?
@Texas2Tires An RS. But I prefer to accentuate its sporty nature. I've loaded my machine with too much cargo on a few occasions and hated riding it. Most of the time, I ride with a lightly packed backpack to carry a few essentials. I don't understand why some riders by an RS and load it to the hills when there's a perfectly capable RT for touring. I'm hoping the next iteration will be more sport oriented. More like a fast GT machine. Or something with similar dynamics to the R, which has better fork geometry.
@@LonelyTreeSunset Thank you for watching the video and commenting. Those are some excellent insights to your personal experience with the bike. I completely agree. If I did long haul touring or anything past five hours straight on the regular, I would have purchased an RT. However, for my purposes, I love my RS!
@@LonelyTreeSunset RS for touring, I can't
stand the RT with it's big fat fairing front end!
Unless you ride really fast with unlimited top speed or do track days the RS1250 with boxer engine torque will give many high rpm sports bike a run for their money.
I've no idea how you ride or what you tune has done as the 1250 engine will pour on power rapidly to 120mph +
Why to pay for the inspection? Thats what they need, not you. If anything, they have to pay you, lol😂
It’s a money grab for sure.
