The manufacturing process and craftmanship of GS watches are of super high quality and amazing.... Unfortunately the background music is disgrace, chosen by someone of low taste and low sense of aesthetic, just doesn't do justice to otherwise superb GS watch making presentation :(
Actually the Grand Seikos are incredibly affordable for what you get, yes, they break most of our bank accounts, but they’re getting in an upper market, check a WatchFinder video where they compare a GS with an A. Lange. Both watches are almost in the same level of finishing, yet, the A. Lange is way more expensive.
this is such a strange statement. Rolex is a great watch, beautiful design, construction and quality. Grand Seiko is the same, amazing craftsmanship and quality. You can enjoy both. I bought a Rolex to impress NO ONE. I bought a GS to impress NO ONE. I judge no one by their watch and make no broad or sweeping statements such as "you buy a Rolex to impress idiots".

Many years ago (maybe over 10 years ago) I heard the proverb that "you buy a Rolex to impress others, and you buy a Grand Seiko to impress yourself" I think that means "everyone knows Rolex is great, on the oter hand, Grand Seiko is underrated" Of course, the proverb is the proverb. nothing more, nothing less. Everyone has the right to pay their own money for what they want.

Because They are proud to be the first company in the world to commercialize quartz watches in 1969. Several luxury brands, including Grand Seiko, make quartz watches. These quartz watches should be considered completely different from the lower priced quartz watches in terms of accuracy. For example, the Grand Seiko is accurate within less than plus or minus 10 second per year.
Ignorant comment, grand seiko quartz movements are amongst the best in the world, hand assembled, fully in-house, and designed to be serviced and last a life time. The care and attention to detail that goes into these movements puts a lot of mechanical movements in the shade.

Grand Seiko, claiming their watch is +-1 second a day while in actuality it's +0.18s
I believe the standard Swiss chronometre test is +6/-4 s/day. Not remotely close to GS accuracy.

Grand Seiko の名前が魅力的でない。セイコーと言う確固たる大ブランドの名前の前に何か別の文字を付けるのは、愚策だ。SEIKO の価値を下げて、Grand Seikoを安っぽく見せている。ROLEXやOMEGAの「前」に何か単語が来るの想像出来ない。確立している価値をわざわざ落とす様なものだ。
例えば極端いえば、創業者の服部氏の名前を取って、HATTORIを中心に持ってきて、どこかにSEIKOを小さく打つとかの方が新たな大ブランドになる可能性大きい。すでにある大SEIKOの名前を引き続きくっ付けてアピールしながらの新たな別名を謳いSEIKO以上の品質を売りにするのだから、ブランド戦略としては愚策だ。
大戦略があれば、SEIKO SARB033のような名機を廃盤にする必要はなかったはず。

セイコーの前身である服部時計店の従業員・山崎久夫が、創業者である服部家と第二精工舎（現在のセイコーインスツル）から出資を受けて創業したのが諏訪精工舎、すなわち現在のセイコーエプソン。
もともと、セイコー（ホールディングス）の前身である服部時計店は、あくまで時計販売会社だから、自らは時計を製造しない。
昔から、実際の製造は、第二精工舎（セイコーインスツル）と諏訪精工舎（セイコーエプソン）に委託する形をとっていたよ。
要するに、セイコーの時計っていうのは、セイコーホールディングス、セイコーインスツル、セイコーエプソンというグループ企業三社による製造・販売の分業と協力によって出来ているって事。
