Thank you for all of your hard work. I wish I could copy all of the EVH solo videos you made and have them for reference. Greatly appreciated. You have them down nearly perfect and have the sound too.
Great analysis. I always thought this had really explicit Jimmy Page influence especially the descending unison bend lick. Also I’ve listened carefully to the track and I’m now convinced it was recorded on a fixed bridge guitar. I you listen to all the wide unison bends the adjacent strings aren’t being pulled out of tune like on a vintage trem. Perhaps his explorer? I heard he had a les paul too. A Gibson scale length and neck profile also makes the wide interval bends easier. It’s obviously a humbucker but that proves nothing!! Thanks for another great vid. RIP EVH
I think this was actually recorded on the Frankenstrat with the trem bar, because if you listen to the whole song there are dive bombs here and there, and he notoriously used to solo on the same track on the fly (Ice Cream Man and - I think - Running With The Devil being the exceptions). It's just that he had an amazing ear and stellar chops.
@@d.7868 there are dive bombs in the rhythm parts of the song but none at all in the solo. And as I said there are some wide bends where you can hear adjacent strings remain in tune. It sounds like a fixed bridge to me but perhaps we’ll never know.
@@MetalguitarpeteI agree, it's all speculation. And there's also to consider that his Black&White Strat copy at the time was being kept in tune with various little tricks here and there (that he partially explained in later interviews), since the Floyd Rose was not around yet. It all could have played a part in misleading our ears when trying to figure out what he was doing.
Hey thanks brother Steve! As an owner of both, I would have a hard time deciding which to save if there was a fire LOL. My only problem with PRS is price... when I bought my Custom 24 (10 top) in the early 2000s, I paid $2400. Now they are selling the same for $4000... it's just crazy.
Hey thanks bro! I do have a few Satriani vids, from several years ago... probably time to update them with some fresh playing, or perhaps you are referring to lessons?
1:37 sounds like a variation on a lick in the second section of the Ice Cream Man solo.... never noticed!
Lovin the frequent uploads, your channel is great!
Hey thanks bro! Rock on! :)
You can't possibly know how much you've helped me...bless you bro!

Sections would sound like octave clefs:
Section One - Treble clef
Section Two - Treble clef
Section Three - Treble clef
Section Four - Treble clef
Section Five - Bass clef
Section Six - Treble clef
Section Seven - Treble clef
Section Eight - Bass clef
Section Nine - Bass clef
the "pinky bending thing" is something I've never seen. I haven't seen Ed do it (?) Regardless, I'm going my pinky going!
Thanks for the lesson. What type of equipment do you need to isolate a guitar solo?
Great lesson, bro!! And I can't help but GAS over that EVH. Everyone wants me to get a PRS, but I'm thinking the other three letters....
