Used to play this song "back in the day" and it was such a crowd pleaser but our guitarists didn't play it note for note together the way these two did. Man, what a LOT of work. AN INTERESTING "TIDBIT" ABOUT THE STUDIO VERSION OF "FREEBIRD"... Not long ago, I met one of the studio engineers who worked with Skynyrd when they recorded this song in Atlanta, I believe. After they completed all the guitar work, the band went home for the day. The guitar solos were intended separate from each other featuring each player but after listening to it, the production team decided to put them together to create the totally "chaotic" sound of the multiple solos at the same time. When the band came in the next day to listen to it, they HATED it...but guess who won out in the end? And the rest, as they say, is histoire!
