Mine has an HDD and the start-up it's fine, but it can not be compared with SSD. I have a MacBook Air with SSD, and the SSD is definitely better than the HDD but you can put SSD in your iMac without any problems.
Kiril Ivanov thank you for replying. Would you recommend the iMac over the MacBook Air or not. I'm trying to decide which one I'm going to save up for.
if you open it up which isn't hard just keep the display apart don't have to un-hook it just have like a box holding it up and use t 10 screwdriver un-screw the hdd and hook your new ssd to the ATA 2 controller wont get ata 3 speed but u will get at least 250mb/s read and write, also just duct tape the ssd to the the base of the imac and put back the display and download a software call ssd fan control set it up on smart and you're good to go, i get about 36 seconds boot up time which is pretty decent for a mid 2010 imac i'm not at all complaining. I order a mid 2011 just like this renewed should get it soon will also put a ssd and put 4x 8gb of memory which will be max out to 32gb sweet imac to tinker with the best model to do so.
hey ..nice video ..i read some comments here and im buying it used now in 2016... and i cant find out if thit mac has hdmi out connector couse this feature is very high on my must have list ..i have a lot of movies on my external harddrive and my tv doesnt have usb connector

For video editing, photo editing, how it works? And how OSX El Capitan works?
