As someone who woke up at 4 am to get stuff from the Nikke booth for my friend, I completely relate to you on that Peter. Thank you both for taking the time to take pictures with us for the multiple times we ended running into you. Complete professionals as always and major props to you two.
Skeleton double bookclub time! Woo! For a random pick, this series turned out to be great for me. An *invisible* person fighting for *transparency* of information from the government is absolutely my jam, but I didn't expect it to delve so deeply into the effects of childhood and generational trauma on social and societal behaviors! Seeing not just the MC deal with tragedy, but the ways his friends, classmates, and family act towards the MC because of the tragedy AND the way the MC tries not the disrupt the balance for those friends, classmates, and family so they do not experience his trauma was one of the most interesting parts of the story for me. I really felt the trumoil, decision paralysis, and reluctance to disrupt the status quo. My dude can't even pick a vacation spot. And the fractured family dynamic really landed imo. This all made the 'we are stronger together, supporting each other' motif much more layered. Although to touch on the baseline motif, a personal highlight is the Cpt 32 gut punch that came with the suicide note (from yoroibata's friend) - "in the end, whenever I suffered, I just had to find a way to deal with it myself." Oof. It goes to show what could happen if you don't ask for help like the manga says. "But... well, if you ever feel you can't do it own your own... please rely on me and the others." Having so much connective issue between the MC and yoroibata' origins to explore this messaging was genius. Only negatives are that i felt the religious themes their analogies to governmental bodies were a bit rushed and thin, and I wanted more on the juxtaposition between the MCs love for the skeleton powers and those powers being responsible for his father's death, but it wasn't a huge loss. Great series, great art - very rewarding for people who take time to appreciate the linework, too, as the unique blood and its effects can be easy to miss, dotted around the panels so sparingly and faintly. Putting in the time and appreciating the creators efforts elevated the series for that reason imo. Thanks for picking this! Excited to read everyone's thoughts in the comments
IM So sorry man LOL I truly did like the art a lot but the way the information was presented and just the overall early chapters were really tough to read through
@@AdamC2013 as someone who doesn't keep up with the manga book clubs i appreciated the length of your comment. it's nice seeing the thoughts of people who do follow along with their manga picks!
Uma Musume character designs are incredibly detailed and well done. It's especially noticeable in the anime where each character has quirks of the original horse they're based on. Also Uma Musume S2 is one of the best sports anime ever made by the way. Like it's up there with Ping Pong the Animation.
Scarra: "Oh you mean the Mugen Train movie?" Peter: "No, the 2nd season of Demon Slayer" So... the Mugen Train arc. lol. You can tell these guys have read a ton of random stuff when even overarching major portions of one of the world's most popular animes is getting lost in the turbulent sea that is their minds. Things are so much easier for us [primarily] anime-only people to remember. I know what peter is saying though, they released a Demon Slayer "movie" in theatres that was the last 3 episodes of the Entertainment District arc, and the first 2 episodes of the Swordsmith Village arc. I remember sitting there thinking I made the trip out to the theatres, bought the expensive drink, and I was going to have to sit through all the stuff I had already seen. I even looked around the theatre trying to see if anyone else was confused sitting there watching reruns. It is worth it though getting the early access sneak peak of the new upcoming season. And when they released another with the last couple of Swordsmith Village and intro to Hashira Training arc, knowing ahead of time what it was going to be, it was much easier to digest and enjoy.
The uma musume game is pretty good. I've been playing for 3 years in the JP server. There's a huge community and guides for everything so you can play in Japanese. The game is really casual even though it was a pvp event every month and the songs and coreography are really polished. I can't wait for the english release.
i am a SUCKER for murim stuff but i recognize its all garbage but this one i think has legs and i didnt wanna praise it too much before i gave it a lot of weeks
@@scarra It really does spin the concept of an OP protag in a good way that focuses on something that isn't fully self-absorbed. On the topic of murim genre, I need to catch up on Peerless Dad it went on hiatus at one point and I never realized it came back.
Manhwa recommendation: Tyrant of the Tower Defense Game Recognized Peter while wandering the exhibit hall on the first day & got my P3R pauldron signed by him. I don't follow social media enough so I was really glad he told me he's having a meet & greet with Scarra at Jaime's booth in AA. The first 3 days of the Hoyoverse booth in the entertainment hall was an absolute nightmare, people crowded that entire pathway constantly to try and start the event missions. The 4th day was so much better when they gave pamphlets to 10 random people waiting by the barrier clearing up the pathway.
@@scarraYou don't happen to have a list of what manhwa you're keeping up with right now do you? I'm now just waiting for the weekly updates on like 10 manhwa and need something else to read.
My favorite manga, manhwa, and manhua to recommend are: Manga: Dead Mount Death Play - sort of reverse isekai with awesome storytelling and art Tensei Shitara dai Nana Ouji datta node, Kimama ni Majutsu o Kiwamemasu - super fucking wacky fantasy with art that is mixed between cute-sy, ridiculous body standards, and crazy fights that mix in color in a very cool way. Manhwa: Nano Machine - not sure how to describe it but it is a well done and long running murim manhwa about a guy who is a successor of the heavenly demon and starts at the bottom. The Return of the Crazy Demon - another martial arts manhwa with a main character who is chaotic good and done very well. Player who Returned After 10,000 years - solo level gate break disaster happens but the main character goes to hell when it all happens and works his way up to become the king of hell and then comes back to earth and is funnily evil to his enemies. Manhua: The Ancient Sovereign of Eternity - not sure how to describe it but it is a fantasy martial arts story with a fun and funny main character. Top Tier Providence - awesome art and funny story about a martial arts guy and his disciples. I have a lot more recommendations but if these suit your tastes I hope you enjoy :)
I have been binging many many manga, manhwa, and manhua so I have many more recommendations for those interested! Manga: Isekai Mokushiroku Mynoghra - This is about a kid who dies early because of an illness that keeps him in bed constantly but has played this one rts game like crazy. He gets reincarnated as the evil god who controls a very small area and rebuilds his kingdom. This one has a main character who is a child but it rarely comes into play and unfortunately only has 27 chapters. Nito no Taidana Isekai Shoukogun - This is a revenge isekai with good fighting art and somewhat interesting concept as the main character gains the ability to reverse the effects of his healing magic to fight. Yondome wa Iya na Shizokusei Majutsushi - This one follows a high schooler who is despised by the god who transfers them to the other world and so they are punished by not being able to hurt humans again and plopped into a shitty world as a baby dhampir. This one starts fairly dark and if you don't like main characters in childrens' bodies then it may not be for you but I enjoy it. The Ride-On King - I wouldn't be surprised if you have heard of this one before because it is just weird in a very interesting way. This manga follows basically a meme-ified putin if he was transferred to a fantasy world, but the art is really good and surprisingly the story I have found is very interesting too. Tensei Kenja no Isekai Life - This manga is about an office worker who is reincarnated into a fantasy world but instantly becomes absurdly strong and is constantly oblivious of his strength. He uses magic but also is a monster tamer with many cute slimes and creates many funny situations. The main character is similar to the main character from Level 99 Villainess manga in that they are both usually deadpan and weirdly ignorant. This one got an anime but I do not remember it being very good. Manhua: Overlord of Insects - This is a newer one with only 15 chapters but it has an interesting plot and nice art. It takes place in a modern world with an mmo occupation system where I think high schoolers awaken when they graduate but with an occupation grading system as well. The main character awakens with the highest grade doodoo profession and then another power where he controls these op "insects" that his profession helps grow and evolve. Manhwa: The Roaring Dragon's Emblem - This manhwa is one of the most original works I have read in a while about a man with the ability to semi-transform into a dragon on a path to revenge against a false god who has distorted and stolen the powers from the incarnations of the gods. The art style is very good and the world is set up very well with some unique characteristics. Maplestory: The Last Adventurer - I was too young to have grown up with maplestory but this manhwa is still quite enjoyable without having played it very much. It is also much darker and more gorey than I would have imagined. It is about a man who made it to the end of the world and fought the final calamity only to die and regress back to when he was a slave.
I felt scarra's comment about centuria having a good time. I had the exact same thoughts when I saw all the happy chapters thinking that sooner or later, tragedy would strike. I didn't expect Angvall's decision though in the latest chapter, that made me hype for how great this manga could become
Peter you need to read "solo farming in the tower" it's a manhwa with a slow life farming inside the tower with cute rabbit and cute cats and a lot more cute animals coming and the plot keeps on progressing
Return of the Mount Hua Sect is SO good. I ended up dropping almost all of the murim and wuxia manga because they just lost that cool factor, Return of the Mount Hua Sect is the last on on my reading list. Also, please read Nezumi no Hatsukoi, it's an intense action/romance that recently finished it's first arc. Very high impact story.
It's funny how they get pissed off for being spoiled accidentally when I also get spoiled by them on attack on titan in the Yvonne episode. The episode literally titled "Spoiler etiquette" and there is no indication for audio listener to pause if they don't want to get spoiled.
I just want to say because of your comment I discovered perhaps one of my favorite pieces of manga/manhwa of all time. I consumed all chapters of tyrant of a defense game, then got so hooked I read all the translated light novels, and when that ran out I found the google translated version until I completed it. Thank you so much for your recommendation. I haven’t been moved so emotionally from any piece of media in a long, long time. Words can’t describe how much I loved this manhwa and how much I wish I can forget about it and read it all over again. I related to it that much, heck even cried reading it.
