You not only do a great job of explaining things, you keep your videos at a reasonable length. Some instructors get too chatty and dilute the power of their message.
Zach, you illustrated exactly what I have been struggling with. I know I'm supposed to shallow but never knew how and I have always tried to contort my body to quasi resemble a pro's golf swing but no amount of pulling on the club or pulling my right elbow into my waist ever allowed me to make a smooth, effortless swing. I know I am supposed to come from the inside but in order to get the club to produce that path, I had to contort my wrists such that it was impossible to unload on the ball and I was more focused on just making contact. I've watched countless UA-camrs make a golf swing where it looks like they are barely swinging and hit a 7 iron 180 and yet I have to swing out of my shoes and hope the planets are aligned with the hope that I hit mine 150, assuming I didn't push or hook it. I can't wait to go to the range and incorporate this into my swing. Keep up the great content.
This may be one of the top tips of the year. I can shallow, but always felt I would get laid off and flippy. This left arm move puts me in a position where I am more pinned against my chest and a better angle of attack into the ball. Well done! Everyone on UA-cam has a video on shallowing, and nobody has mentioned this.
Great advice. So important to shallow the club. Effortless power and stops me coming over the top and getting narrow. Plus, you feel so many muscles working rather than being passive.
This is the twirl which is well explained in yr blueprint which i bought . It has really improved my game as well as my understanding of the mechanics of the swing. Thanks Zach
Brilliant advice! Been applying this for a couple of months now from a tip I saw from another you tube coach and it has helped me keep my shots straight. I tend to hit my shots low though. Wish I could get better trojectory with my ball flight?
Question. So many videos and trainers say lose arms hands writs shoulders. Doing this move keeping elbows together tightens up all my joints that should be free and lose?
Always enjoy your videos, but do not understand how the lead arm can externally rotate when the hands are clasped together; so if the trail arm externally rotates the lead arm must internally rotate surely? I have tried externally rotating the lead arm, as you suggest, but unable to do so without the hands separating, which obviously is not going to help at contact. Grateful for clarification; apologies if I have missed the obvious.
No. Zack is correct. For a right hander, rotating the left arm CLOCKWISE internally rotates the left shoulder. Try it. So rotating the left arm anti-clockwise, as he suggests, externally rotates the left shoulder.
I like your swing thoughts and visualization, however I still seem to get disconnected as you noted in your video (3.26 mark). I'm not sure if my left arm and hands are moving away from my body because of centrifical force or if I'm just lunging by body (early extention)? Any thoughts or drils to elimintae this move? Thx, and I really like the results I'm getting!
Is the idea to rotate the upper lead arm externally, while allowing the lead wrist/hand to rotate internally to follow the trail arm's/wrist external rotation?
Been working on this for 3 days. Wedges and short irons are great, even 10 yard 60' wedges with loose hands. 5 iron and woods... not so much. Any tips for longer clubs?
High Zack Love Your video’s. Just to let you know Zack It’s not internal and external rotation at the elbow. It’s Supination and Pronation. Thanks again Zack. Keep the Great work going. Stuart.
I think this way of explaining works well for me. Other instructors speak on turning or keeping the lead arm elbow point more down in the backswing, rather than letting it point in front the body. This is definitely a body swing maneuver and I think it’s more viable than saying loose noodle arms. Thanks for the video.
Why do we look to 'Shallow" the club.? Why not just stick it there on the backswing then back through on the same plane? Shallowing seems like an extra move we mere mortals can do without
is there any question that the brain(motor cortex) controls our movements? Complex movement is controlled subconsciously. Human beings only evolved due to survival mechanisms built in. In order to hunt and gather food, as well as, eat our motor cortex developed to take cues from our face (mouth, tongue) and our hands. Its why more than 80 % of the neurons in our motor cortex are devoted to these body parts. We did not evolve to swing the golf club. To teach our cerebral cortex, we have to concentrate that teaching to our hands. Its why Moe Norman's vertical drop was the result of keeping his right palm facing the sky from the top of his BS through impact. ...through impact kept the clubface shallow throughout....no conscious release, no hitting.
Gee, you have to practice these moves to make a proper golf swing?? I thought the golf swing was supposed to be a natural movement. Sure doesn't look like it based on this video. No wonder most players don't improve!
Sorry, I didn’t get any of that. Volleyball players? Arms going internal/external? Clearly a language that may mean something to many, but there was no clear explanation of what it meant or demonstration, all I got was we should try and hit it with something stuck between our forearms? Which I tried and could just as easily make a steepening over the top move.
The most underrated instructor on UA-cam! Thanks again for an awesome drill!
Thanks, Zach!
Your video has simplified the concept of "shallowing the club" for me...

I could not agree more. This is the key!

Zack having my lead arm go external on the down swing feels amazing. Really great tip! Thanks
Amazing. You play a game for 50 years and learn something so simple that this completely new. Ta
Very helpful. Love your work. Thanks.

Great visual for shallowing the club!! Thanks :-)
looking forward to working on the move thanks Zach
Most helpful video on shallowing I’ve seen, thanks very much.
Question.
So many videos and trainers say lose arms hands writs shoulders.
Doing this move keeping elbows together tightens up all my joints that should be free and lose?
Excellent, thanks Zach
Will try it tomorrow
Brilliant feel, this should be very helpful as I tend to be steep.
Steep means you are making the ball the target.
I worked on this over the winter and it makes a big difference. Still can't seem to shallow my driver though (with the expected results).

. You do online lessons ?
Very well done.

Zach the club face looks so open when you shallow the club. How does is square up At impact? Jay

thanks- explained it really well
If i was only as flexible as you, golf would be so much easier.
I just feel like my left arm stays close to my chest and goes under my chin. Seems to work.
how can I get a lesson with you
What a great video! Thank you so much for your wonderful insight and sharing your golfing knowledge with us. 🙏

Zach, could you just externally rotate both elbows at set up and accomplish the same thing? Thanks.
When I shallow I find my right hand only holding the grip with my fingers and my palm area is exposed..
Why do we look to 'Shallow" the club.?
Why not just stick it there on the backswing then back through on the same plane?

You're good! Thanks! When you introduce yourself, just say, "Hi. I'm Zack Allen." You are not introducing a fire hydrant.

my guy didn't hit one ball, can't be trusted
This is so ridiculous. There is no such thing as positions to hit.
