@@AntHolleufer Yes I have the test tube setup now. The issue is the sp I believe I have is parasitic. Which means it needs another colonies workers to care for the brood. I wanted to confirm this to be true or if she (the queen) would be fine without the helpers.
Sadly I don’t know the species. But if it’s true you probably need to look for other Lasius brood. Best in the pupae stage. But it can be hard at this time of year to find. So possibly just feed them and keep them alive for now and see what happens 🤔
It's like buying a high tech car and having the brakes fail and fixing them, contacting the company and telling them, them agreeing it was their fault and improving the design... Then having the wheels fall off at speed..
Haha that’s a good one 😆😅 again most people say the two problems are the same. I really feels it’s two completely different problems and had nothing to do with each other 😅🤔
@@AntHolleufer if the base had been supported in the center with the cross bracket it wouldn't have sagged under the weight of the growing colony in the first place, so the plastic screw supports would have been able to do their job holding the screws. As the center sank it warped the base, kind of like a drum skin pulled against the rim and the screw brackets couldn't hold the weight so they pulled free of the threads. Add adventuring ladies to the mix and it's a disaster they should have seen coming if they had done any long term product testing or made sure their materials didn't degrade under ant biology. Their waste must have some detrimental effect on the plastic over time, yeah?
Yeah that sounds very right. If I remember correctly I asked if it was possible to get an big outworld and he made this so I was the first to get one and test one. On that behalf it was interesting that it didn’t have a testing faces but just went up for sale but thats not my decisions. But looking back it would seem it was good I didn’t add any sand to the mix 😅
Well, you did the most typical youtube thing "Omg, this is a horrible situation, but before I do anything, grab the cameras!!" But you did well, that seemed like a VERY stressful situation to be in, definitely wouldn't want to be in your shoes (like the ants were). Edit: Ah, yeah, for acrylic / plastic containers, especially one that has thin walls like yours, you always add extra supports around the mid areas. It'll definitely bend under the weight. What a bad design flaw. Adding little support blocks beneath it every few inches would work as well.
Antkit nests are nice but small for huge colonies like yours. What companies would you recommend that would house such a colony like yours? I'm just worried about where I'd house such a large colony
I mean the sim ants nest have worked. But wakooshi is also making some massive nests and I’m gonna re house my colony in two months time or so to a all new setup! 😄
It’s so very hard to tell. Saying 10,000 escape feels wrong but stopping the video and counting ants the every frame it doesn’t feel wrong. Before I’d say 5000 but I think in the outworld there’s constantly around 1000-2000 soooo. No idea 10k 15k 🤷🏻♂️ they fill 2 nest 100% and the rest adds to another full nest. And well the nest are bigger the the XL wakooshi nest. And 1-1,5 Cm thicker 😅🤷🏻♂️
video was nice :) I still remember seeing the story on instagram and being like OMG NO have I ever had massive breakouts, well, comparing to what you had, no XD I had my L nigers of course, and I also keep on finding maculatus workers for some reason
@@AntHolleufer The Lasius are in a multi setup, but in their case the tube was disconnected by accident [Outworld from AntStore, Nests from Antheap and WaKooshi] as for the maculatus, a pure Wakooshi setup at the moment, but I am sure I had some escapees when I attached the new outworld and moved the setup to another possition, so nothing could have prevented that haha
Oh that sounds very weird 😅🤔 I still see atta workers sometimes but they just escape sometimes when I feed them and disappear. That is a least what I’m telling my self😶😅
@@AntHolleufer hahaha yeah thats what I am telling myself with the macu's too, must have escaped when I did something [changing water feeders and such]
Do you know what type of mites they are? I am going to assume grain mites as they are very common and spread fast. You said you are using a substrate, it the substrate moist? Mites like moisture. You can buy predator mites which eat other mites and will die off when there are no mites left to eat. Good way to prevent mites is having a bio active setup with isopods and springtails as they are natural clean up crews and will stop any mites from getting a base within your soil. In the tarantula community mites are a common problem and I have dealt with them myself, I have done all 3 ways I have suggested and all have worked.
I would just roll the carpets up and take the outside. so much faster, and not sucking and using so much electricity or wasting your time with twisters.
When I saw someone on another chabbel cleaning their same model outworld I did say to myself ut didn't look like a very good design, unhappy to know I was even more correct than I imagined
Hi bro, Sorry to hear your accident. i think i can explain what happened to your enclosure. from what i saw, the connector and the other part of the enclosure mainly was made of 3D printing material. And as 3d printer user, i happened to encounter this kind of problem. As the time goes by, the 3D PRINTER MATERIAL will become brittle and can be broken by a little weight. there is nothing you can do to fix it, but to make it last longer, i might suggest you to repaint all the 3d printed material As soon as you get it (except the acrylic). the main cause of the brittleness are temperature, humid, and many more.. so in the future i suggest you to use all component acrylic (to increase the beauty) if possible . for longterm, 3D print just suitable for "visual only" not "function use"
Dude, the ant keeping hobby is one of the most volatile ones I have experienced within the pet trade. I am sure there are many reasons. Personally I feel that many of the individuals who keep ant colonies lack some of the "social skills". lol Also, there are probably too many smart individuals in the hobby and god forbid they are not correct.
I'm surprised you didn't have a floor vacuum. It would've taken literally 30 seconds to vacuum the whole carpet to be almost 100% clean. Almost every American home has a floor vacuum, they're like $100. I wonder if floor vacuums being in every home is an American thing
All the blame goes to high tech ants I personally wont buy their products ever again solely based on their childish and immature response to your very fair and legitimate complaint
@@UA-camweirdo-zz5sp … It’s not. If you’d looked at the account you’ll see it was started in 2009. I’ve got no affiliation with HTA - other than we both keep ants - I’ve never even bought any ant enclosures I’ve always done DIY. Having run several small businesses in my time - I just dislike seeing people boycott, and spreading hate about, a small business in a small hobby community.. over a car analogy..
To me, the supports looks weak because it isn't printed in 100% solid. Also acrylic warps where there's moisture. I believe if u look at the acrylic on a flat surface, u will notice it is not flat anymore. This warping causes a tension on the screws which then causing the supports to crack. The centre part of the outworld is also suspended. Had been working with 3d printing n acrylic for a while now so this is what i observed based on my 5 years 3D printing formicarium experiences. Printing such small hollow parts to perform such important function is really not a good idea. Hope ur singularis is fine.

This is truly the best thing to watch when you’re high as shit ❤
😳😆😆
I was surprised when HTA made that post about it, mostly because AH didn't directly shit on them, he just showed what had happened, he didn't say they're a crap company and it was a crap product, so a bit overly aggressive response from HTA in my opinion
Thank you for saying that! I deliberately tired not to mention their their name also why I didn’t do it in this video well. Before I read his response 😅 thanks for the support! Appreciate it! ❤️
Good video explaining what happened
Thank you 😄
I came over here to your UA-cam after seeing you live on TikTok. I loved how you did the storytelling in this video. I will gladly be a member and support you and your ants, but when I go and press your link in the description. It just send me to your UA-cam channel? VH Felix
Hah hello felix! Glad to see you over here 😄 for some reason you can’t use member thing on an iPhone. There’s a way to make it show as a pc screen and then you join. (Use safety and make it show as pc) very dumb I have had the same frustration😅 but yeah guessing your using iPhone 😆 but here on my UA-cam channel I put quite a lot more time into the videos compared to TikTok 😅😄
@@AntHolleufer thank you for the help
Big escape messors very smart for to go outside😄 me too sometime and i take too vacuum 🙄
Yeah it’s about reading the situation and make a choice after 🤔
😂😂😂
Just no!
My bullants are in a room with 30 tarantulas and it’s also my bedroom
Best they don’t escape 😂😂😂
I recently found a lasius aphidicola queen with out works. Is there a way to establish a colony without workers?
Not sure I understand the question but a simple test tube setup should work 🤔 test Tube with water then cotton then colony and then cotton 🤔
@@AntHolleufer
Yes I have the test tube setup now.
How are your Tetramorium Caespitum now?
Same as in the video. Can’t really see to be honest 😅
But looking back it would seem it was good I didn’t add any sand to the mix 😅
nice video!
Thank you!
Rest in peperonies
😅😅
Well, you did the most typical youtube thing "Omg, this is a horrible situation, but before I do anything, grab the cameras!!"
But you did well, that seemed like a VERY stressful situation to be in, definitely wouldn't want to be in your shoes (like the ants were).
Edit: Ah, yeah, for acrylic / plastic containers, especially one that has thin walls like yours, you always add extra supports around the mid areas. It'll definitely bend under the weight. What a bad design flaw. Adding little support blocks beneath it every few inches would work as well.
That was rude from them tbh
Thanks for being on my side ❤️
Your videos are so well made, and you only have 3k! Doubt that you’ll have 3k for long.. you’ll be having 100k or more in just like- a few months!
Oh thanks man! There’s only one thing to do is keep trying to make videos! 🙌🏻😄 but thanks for the support! ❤️
@@AntHolleufer:)
oh and forgot to add this is one impressive colony matey! how big are they in total do you think?
It’s so very hard to tell. Saying 10,000 escape feels wrong but stopping the video and counting ants the every frame it doesn’t feel wrong. Before I’d say 5000 but I think in the outworld there’s constantly around 1000-2000 soooo. No idea 10k 15k 🤷🏻♂️ they fill 2 nest 100% and the rest adds to another full nest. And well the nest are bigger the the XL wakooshi nest. And 1-1,5 Cm thicker 😅🤷🏻♂️
Bendeki messor sp. 7.000 civarı işçili 3 yıllık bir koleni yutong formikaryumdalar delebilirlermi😮
I’m sorry for that I would hate if that happened to my colony I would just die on the place hopeless
😅 yeah I wasn’t to happy either when I saw it 😅 but yeah only one thing to do and that is get working 😅
Next up, my bull ants escaped 😅
video was nice :) I still remember seeing the story on instagram and being like OMG NO
have I ever had massive breakouts, well, comparing to what you had, no XD
I had my L nigers of course, and I also keep on finding maculatus workers for some reason
Oh c.m 🤔 what setups they in? (Outworld) and yeah thank you! Didn’t know what I was recording but it turned out okay 😅😄
@@AntHolleufer The Lasius are in a multi setup, but in their case the tube was disconnected by accident [Outworld from AntStore, Nests from Antheap and WaKooshi]
as for the maculatus, a pure Wakooshi setup at the moment, but I am sure I had some escapees when I attached the new outworld and moved the setup to another possition, so nothing could have prevented that haha
Oh that sounds very weird 😅🤔 I still see atta workers sometimes but they just escape sometimes when I feed them and disappear. That is a least what I’m telling my self😶😅
@@AntHolleufer hahaha yeah thats what I am telling myself with the macu's too, must have escaped when I did something [changing water feeders and such]
Good thing it's not fire ants I have bad experience on fire ants back then 😅
Yeah 😅😳
Yeah stay safe bro
Hi! How do you kill mites? I am growing my ants in soil…
I’m not 100% sure but you can buy mites killing mites but sadly I know near nothing about it 😅🤔
Do you know what type of mites they are? I am going to assume grain mites as they are very common and spread fast. You said you are using a substrate, it the substrate moist? Mites like moisture. You can buy predator mites which eat other mites and will die off when there are no mites left to eat. Good way to prevent mites is having a bio active setup with isopods and springtails as they are natural clean up crews and will stop any mites from getting a base within your soil. In the tarantula community mites are a common problem and I have dealt with them myself, I have done all 3 ways I have suggested and all have worked.
Good dam why we have to wait for
😆 to create suspense 😶👀
@@AntHolleufer do an #antshood so I can do funny reaction video hahaha
I would just roll the carpets up and take the outside. so much faster, and not sucking and using so much electricity or wasting your time with twisters.
Hahah yeah that’s one method 😅
Big fan of your Buddy Casper!
😆
5:55 it happens. Can't be angry at you for trying to save them all. 🤷🏻♂️
When I saw someone on another chabbel cleaning their same model outworld I did say to myself ut didn't look like a very good design, unhappy to know I was even more correct than I imagined
I never had escaped ants... I have ants for just 3,5 months. nvm 5 months and 2 days before the first escaped ant!
Yeah it took well actually not that long before my first escape 😅 😅
which outworld did you get?
I was short before order my own Set from High Tech Ants so big thanks you releases tis Video in time
Haha I will never say don’t buy from them but I feel their reaction to the hole escaping wasn’t to much what I like to see 😅
So can I keep Pheidole pallidula in the Acrylic Foundation Nest Complete Kit from hig tech ants?
thanks for answering me

I forgot to tell you, do you like these Messor barbarus ants? Are they beautiful?
Yeah they are every pretty! Big fan of them 🙌🏻😄
The suspence, WHY!? Also, are you going to AntCon?
😆😆 because it makes it better 😆 and yes I am going to antcon 😄🙌🏻
Sad Bro
Hard times
I had a break out but only a 20 worker colony
Yeah it’s definitely not fun 😕
The response of the company is correct, you shouldn't use it after refund.
Hey you are going to be the next Ants Canada!! I just subscribed and liked this video
Oh wow thank you! Welcome! Hope you are here to stay! ❤️🙌🏻
I thought that messor Barbarus was gentle, It will never bite. 😲
Every ant will defend itself.
That's why I prefer wakooshi products
😆
Same 😶
Houston, we have a problem....
🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
well atleast messors don't sting 😅
No 😆😆
I'm surprised you didn't have a floor vacuum. It would've taken literally 30 seconds to vacuum the whole carpet to be almost 100% clean. Almost every American home has a floor vacuum, they're like $100. I wonder if floor vacuums being in every home is an American thing
So incredibly sad
Yeah 😓😪
All the blame goes to high tech ants I personally wont buy their products ever again solely based on their childish and immature response to your very fair and legitimate complaint
Thanks for the support man ❤️ happy to hear you opinions! ❤️
Seems a bit extreme. What response are you talking about?
@@Synqued high tech ants burner account spotted
@@UA-camweirdo-zz5sp … It’s not. If you’d looked at the account you’ll see it was started in 2009. I’ve got no affiliation with HTA - other than we both keep ants - I’ve never even bought any ant enclosures I’ve always done DIY.
Having run several small businesses in my time - I just dislike seeing people boycott, and spreading hate about, a small business in a small hobby community.. over a car analogy..
@@Synqued i’m not gonna trust a high tech ants burner account on the matter its a biased opinion🤦♂️

😅 Yeb 💀
they have a point though, but you do too
What caused the outworld to fail though?
No idea I’m no outworld builder 😅🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
if i was to guess the weight on the joins over time caused them to fail.
@@antshood3324 yeah those supports look pretty titchy compared to the size of the outworld imo
