Downton Abbey: What You Didn't Know About The Shooting Place

- Downton Abbey has become THE British cult series.
The story about the fate of a noble family and their servants at the beginning of the 20th century in Yorkshire, England, is even set in a real palace: Highclere Castle.
There aren't servants anymore, but it still has a countess.
The lady of the house takes us on an exclusive tour of the castle where Downton Abbey has been shot. Some of the locations may look familiar, especially since the second film is now being released after six successful seasons on TV.

Thank you for the tour! It’s such a beautiful magnificent castle! How Blessed you are to live there! I’d love to go there in person some day, but rarely travel these days ... especially over the pond. ❤️
They hit the jackpot. Most country house owners struggle and struggle to get enough income to maintain the property. Julian Fellowes turned Highclere into a cash cow for them.
I love Downton abbey so much that I'll will visit for sure if I can !!
Interesting and informative. Thanks.
I’m a fan of the series, it was interesting for me, thanks
Thank you so much. It’s on bucket list to visit.
I would definitely love to take a tour of that place
Probably built on proceeds from slavery or some other exploitation of people.
That is most of the world so accept it. You have a problem with it then blame those who gave into fear and became slaves. I do not feel sorry for them.
Lovely hostess, great presentation ❤
Very gracious lady.
"Shooting Place"? - Filming Location
Great
mrs Bouquet is'nt it?
Why didn't they show the servant's room and kitchen?
Those have been recreated on a soundstage for filming. The original basement is an exhibit space nowadays
The kitchen has been modernised too much. So it is recreated at Ealing Studios in London.
cool!"
Fortunately the homeowners have the multiple sources of income to maintain the estate which is not insignificant.
❤
I love Very Very downton ❤❤❤❤
The duchess is a sweet, kind woman. And the castle couldn't be in better hands than it is with the current owners.
Her stepchildren hate her
Sorry to correct , She is Countess , Countess of Carnarvon
Two hundred plus rooms? Egad, by the time 'er ladyship starts on them all 'oovering she'd be back to starting hall over again once she finish, take so long. Rather 'er than me.
Britain is the only European monarchy which transitioned into a democracy peacefully after the English Civil War. Hence the continuity and popularity of their upper classes. Their powers was gradually decreased under democratic Governments and not guillotined, even though Charles the first was🤴🏻💀
You may wish to study the history of European countries in a bit more detail as you are rather mistaken in your comment here.
What? You’re dead wrong.
What about the monarchies of the Netherlands? And Sweden? And Denmark? And Spain?
You just don’t know your history
Not even a passing mention of Jeeves and Wooster? Scandalous.
What do you mean, 'even in reality the room is particularly inviting ..'! 🤣
Fiona is such a narcissist though.... other than that... it is a pretty place to visit
And that is a professional medical diagnosis from you?
Why this obsession with the British upper classes? The writer of DA claimed the staff were 'happy' with their lives and presumably built in inferior social status and insecure lives. Please move on from British stereotypes and do articles that reflect the lives of the vast majority of UK people.
lovely house though, but as long as they pay taxes i'd be fine.
The majority of the people don’t need articles that reflect issues. They’re all too aware of them, but not with the upper class. Hence, the”obsession”.
It’s not an obsession to be interested in history - get a life and stop obsessing.

It’s no an obsession , it’s an interest.
