I ran leg 1 a month or so back. I had the same mindset as you at the bridge after Great Calva. I ended up running across the bridge first, then backtracked went up the path to the right…and finally back to the bridge where I discovered that smaller path 😂🤦🏻♂️ That heather was energy sapping but a superb workout nonetheless.
I was lucky to get a tip off as to the right route or I’d have been doing the same. Shows how a recce could save valuable time and energy when taking this on as part of a bigger challenge! Doing that route again I’d be tempted to opt for ‘longs’ to keep the heather at bay and gortex socks, for obvious reasons. Happy running!
