As someone whose military service was in comms and command, the way you folks talk in this video is a joy to hear. Organised, concise, clear. An absolute delight.
awmperry first of all, thank you for your service, also, I have to agree even though I never was a radio operator, and I doubt I'll be in the military ever due to me having autism. But the way they speak is to the point and consice
Wulf715 I'm on the spectrum myself - for the things I did it's only benefits. But of course everyone's presentation is different; if you want to serve, just don't let it stop you. :-)
There's not really any such thing as "wrong" in comms, if the message gets across clearly. Different organisations have different routines that their operators are expected to follow, but in this instance they've got their own system that is clear, concise and unambiguous. The message gets through without confusion or significant misunderstandings - so yeah, full marks from me.
I love how much you broke this game down. The manual is an amazingly overcomplicated mess (Which in a normal game does add to the fun a bit) and you stripped it all into the simplest rules you needed, picked out only the most important information, figured out how to fully explain and communicate the more chaotic and misleading elements of those modules, and then offloaded everything that was too much to juggle into other people's brains, took on anything you could manage yourself, and ran that entire system like a god damned machine. Dude.
That's pretty normal, if you're playing it a while. I've seen bomb defuser capable of doing memory and who's on first on their own. PS: I'm just good enough to do the wires and complicated wires alone
That moment when you used to watch Lt Hummus do simple bombs from back when the game first out, then you lost interest in the game for almost a year, but then you come back to this overwhelming shit
3:41 Third persons voice: your password are ready Me: Wtf, there are more than 2 people, but then again this is a whole elevator with shit on the walls.
There is no screen, all other players besides the person defusing with the VR headset have printed binders with actual paper. You can try with a tablet and PDF but it's much too slow, and the notes tend to get tossed about as the timer drops and pages aren't needed anymore. The only thing shared by the whole team is a com channel and maybe a table if they're in the same place.
@@bronzedivision we actually just streamed this on twitch and the main person put me in discord with a cam then shared that screen, on discord u can share up to 4 ppl so its totally possible. I would have love to see how they did it.
Also the bomb manual is intentionally unoptimized. Once you learn how the modules work, you can often reorganize the data so that you only need to know a minimum amount of information to solve them, or in some cases memorize the solutions as the players did here on occasion.
there's gonna be that one guy that walks in the elevator and everyone's looking at eachother smirking because they know the poor dude is gonna get lit the fuck up in there *psst.. James.. Look! He's taking the elevator! *snickering**
TIM idator They did a few attempts with the modded modules in the elevator. You can see them if you check out the full steam on LtHummus' Twitch channel.
Great playthrough but I have a few questions: 1. How does he know where to set the needy module without checking the light order each time? 2. How does he know when to let go of the buttons? 3. How does he know which button to press first time on the Memory module without checking first? 4. How does he know which wires to cut on the colour-led-star wires without asking? If the answer to all of the above is basically "He's memorized these aspects of the game manual" then first of all, "Bravo sir!" but second of all, it's time for a new manual!
1) you can use either the first 3 pairs of lights, or the 4th and 5th pairs to uniquely determine it. He memorized most of them but had to ask twice 2) one colour is 4, another is 5, rest are 1 - can't remember which colours though :( 3) display 1, 2, 3, 4 = position 2, 2, 3, 4 4) you can cut white, white star and red star without any conditions
I hear 4 different voices so one person memorized Like 7 different things while the other 3 either were figuring stuff out or keeping track of things in-game I am thoroughly impressed
I love coming back to this video every now and again, especially now that I have a friend with a VR headset - it's cool seeing what tricks I picked up from your videos and what systems I made for myself
Pretty sure I played with these guys briefly at PAX Prime back in 2015, when this was just coming out and they just had a small theatre rented out with the game running the entire weekend. I'm still so impressed at how coordinated these people are at the base modules!
INSANE. To be able to do this, the teamwork you have to have, the synchronicity you have to have with your team-mates, the trust you have to put in them, the ability for you to hold your nerve and not panic, and above all that also having a fantastic knowledge of the game and an insane memory to be able to maximise your efficiency, simply unbelievable. Literally running out of superlatives. I've never seen anything like it.

This got recommended to me after watching a video of Doom being played inside of somebody’s car. I was not disappointed. This was stressful and still humorous.
I have seen regular levels of this game, but this is insane. This is a level that can only be completed with a group of very skilled people. I mean, the early levels are fun for party games or whatever, but this takes dedication. Even with these people that know one another and know their roles, this was solved with less than 37 seconds remaining... that's pretty close. Wonderful job by everyone involved, the ones behind the scenes were bloody amazing, but the communication was awesome and everyone did a great job.
i just love the thought that there was one day where they all found this game, and they all sucked at it. and had no idea how to tell what the morse codes were, but they all thought, 'this is fun. I wanna beat this.' And then we get this amazing thing! Congratz, yall. That was awesome team work!
You guys have an awesome system in place but I was still on the edge of my seat. I didn't even know the bombs could get this crazy (And now I know they can get even crazier than that.)

One person has the game running on the moniter whilst another person is in another room with a comm device and the pdf or hardcopy version of the game's bomb defusal manual. The bomb in the normal version is a suitcase with modules on it and the person at the moniter has to describe the module to the person with the manual so they can look it up and tell the defuser what buttons to press/which wire to cut etc. .
To add to what XgamerPlayz said, the manual itself is deliberately confusing. The devs have it posted online at www.bombmanual.com/. The game is also capable of being modded using Unity (a game development engine/editor that uses Javascript and/or C# for the code) to add new modules. In this case, the mod places a stupid number of 9-module panels on the inside of an elevator. Here, they don't appear to be using custom bomb modules because the Elevator of Doom mod is way more than hard enough as-is. One of my favorite KTANE mods is the Piano Keys mod, which comes in both Standard and Cruel versions. Apart from having to be able to actually understand sheet music and actual piano keys to be able to effectively defuse a Piano Keys module, in the cruel version one must also apply transformations to the required sequence of notes. I've been a musician, live with a published composer, and we've played KTANE together. We tried Piano Keys and Cruel Piano Keys and, well.... boom..
Imagine a escape room with this. Not with actually bombs ofc but you get the idea. A set of modules that are copied (or modified) from the game.
