Will, I found your channel about two weeks ago and literally can't stop watching. Thank you for making the content. I will definitely be getting your masterclass.
... thank you for the quick and informative tips Will! .. the reference track to "ext out" made perfect sense!! (Tip #27) .. hope to be in the next masterclass .. .!. .👊🏾🤴🏾👊🏾. .!.
Wow, brilliant. I keep coming back to this one. There's always quite a few more surprises and gems in this gold mine… much appreciated .Thanks kindly, Will.
Thanks for elucidating so much in such a user friendly manner. I wonder if you have figured out how to insert time in one track? Not every track. Thanks.
Just decided to switch to Ableton. This video gives you all the actual stuff you need without having to plough through hours and hours of advanced tutorials, manuals etc.
@@EDMTips Indeed I did. Not to sound the prat, but it's rare that I hear or see a tip that is new to me, but you showed me several, and they were practical and all. Respect.
Instead of click track for sidechain its simplier to use built-in frequency filter and cutoff a long body which is usualy in low mid and sub and leave only click which is a HF.
@@EDMTips I'm def using a better default setup right now with a SC and a simpler channel. The little keymapping on the preview button saves me some frustratable clicks for sure!
Regarding tip 39, you can hot swap any audio just hit file on top left and I think it’s “view project files” then you can hot swap anything on any tracks! Great video thank you
Cheers!!! Outstanding video as usual 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. To speed my workflow, I got into using the contour shuttle pro with the jog wheel and buttons so I can move clips/notes etc. around really quickly and precisely- and assign hot keys respectively. There are too many really good hot keys, so I then added an Elgato Stream Deck to assign a few dozen more hot keys for easy one-button pressing that really speeds up workflow. Do you have a peripheral devices for hot keys. etc, that you use to facilitate your workflow?
Thanks so much for this. It's a great blend of features most of us probably didn't know existed, as while as applications of known features that will make our lives easier. I'm sure this video took ages to produce, but it's very much appreciated. The whole time I was watching this, I had my Ableton preferences open so I could follow along.
@@EDMTips I've got this song that starts with a chord being kind of "strummed" on the keys. The strum starts a little before the first downbeat and ends a little after it. So in order to get the whole song to start in time, I can either add a 1/4 measure at the beginning (a full 4/4 is just too long to wait after re-winding), or I can put a negative delay on the keys. The 1/4 is annoying, and the problem with the negative delay is that the time shown in the transport lines up with the keys, making everything else appear off. Is there some way to get the transport to start at a negative time instead of 1.1.1?
lots of great tips! thank you! tip 29: you can also blend those different sounds together and fade between them by using the "chain" of the group, create fades between the chains and apply it to a knob. I also use this a lot fot different effects on an audio track. if an effect doesn't have a dry/wet knob, you can create a dry chain and an effects chain and blend between those two
Hell yeah! Great tips! Thanks as always. One thing I've been doing lately instead of having a separate click track to sidechain from is to use the compressor's sidechain EQ to isolate the top end of the kick only and drive it a bit with the input gain. It ends up being the same as a separate click track but you are guaranteed to have the compressor fire whenever the kick triggers. Helpful if you change up the 4-to-the-floor to a more breakbeat style pattern somewhere in the mix and still want to compress the other tracks. Though it's not as good of a solution if you keep a consistent 4 beat and also add fills using the same kick. Just another tip for y'all!
Can you make a tutorial on how to make music like the one Dubfire would play on a festival. Some techno, minimal techno, call it what oyu like. Cheers mate, absolutely love your work!
This was super handy, great delivery too. I have weapons grade adhd and find it hard sometimes to learn from videos but this was perfect straight to the point and clearly explained. Really glad I found you on here, going to look at your course now too, I’ve had ableton for a while but mainly do all my stuff in maschine and just use ableton for routing but it’s time I understood ableton more and you seem like the perfect guide, thanks 🙏
Will. Thanks so much for the videos in the style of Lane8. CamelPhat. Franky Wah. Bicep etc. So so so helpful. Can I ask would you put 1) Elderbrook on your list and 2) Fred Gibson (Fred again)??? I love both and I’d love to see your interpretation. Where’s the best place to comment this so you see it?
So helpful, and straight to the point in this one! Had my sub. I definitely got some life changing tips even though i knew a lot of them as an experienced ableton user xD Thanks !
#30 -- Can't drag the midi clip into current project folder as you've done - I get the circle with a diagonal line through it indicating that I can't do that. Any help welcome. Thanks!
tip 44: heard it a few times but still don't quite get it. Why changing the channel's volume if the volume fader is automated is problematic ? You can always put a utility and add a few dB of gain.
something wrong is the tips to change the length of a clip! It crashed my ableton i can never get it back to work ^^ crazy! I had that audio and midi clip selected same time when i tried.
I got so excited about this, I literally SWEATED tips 🥵

17:00 would you say that this is a good way of layering Sounds?
For tip 8, to avoid missing the first snare : start from the end 👍

Hi Will. What's the name of the song that you're working on this tutorial?

No, but 95% of these work in 10

Question: won't it be more efficient if we put the sidechain effect on an aux channel?
I don’t recommend it, unless you want all of your sidechained instruments to have the exact same amount of bounce
at 16:45 is there a way to change the midi notes of the other chains?
Anyone else unable save default presets in non native plugins (e.g. a low cut in Fab Filter Q3)?
