Hi, just found Ur channel and the content U've got there is very informative and helpful! 🤍❤🖤 I just started composing with the start of this year and I'm trying to find my genre, is there any possibility of sending U some tracks so U could say what's done properly and what's not? If it's not a problem I'd be very pleased if U told me afterwards what of Ur other videos should I watch to fill the gaps in my knowledge 🙏
I like how you explain why you do certain things a certain way instead of just showing how to do it. I just found your channel and absolutely respect what you're doing.
I don't do EDM - or any dance related EM really. But your tips are still useful and good teaching crosses genres. Top tutorials, well explained. Thanks!
@@EDMTips Added bonus tip: use the pentatonic scale to always make sure your bass isn't clashing with any chord going on at the same time. Works when you tune your drums too
Had a mate round last night. He listened to some of my tunes.....his comment was he liked then but felt my baselines were lacking.......kicked me into action. THIS video is the fix. Brilliant stuff. Thank you. 😊
Amen brother. Thank you for the content, I’ve loved music composition since I was a kind in band but learning a software was hard. These videos are bridging that gap for me.
As soon as I watched this video I started to create a dance track incorporating some of the tips I learned. Now things sound a bit more interesting thanks and one love from Jamaica
Dotted basslines almost always sound great and can do wonders moving the the bass away from kicks. It'd be cool to see you take on some more Drum and Bass!
Perhaps I do more of Drum and Bass in the future, depending on how many people will vote for it. Any particular artists or tracks you're digging at the moment?
@@EDMTips I've been listening through some of the classic selections recently. Clean dreamy 90s liquid like LTJ Bukem, Makoto, and Wax Doctor. Modern liquid gets pretty poppy/synthy, that minimal classic sound has such a serene lounge/vacation vibe to it.
@@ErixSamson Fair call. But then who is to say Jazz is best or pop is worst or Funk is funky. All music is subjective IMO. It's easier to determine which types of music make more money though. Just ask Rihanna in her Rolls Royce fan tail custom made. 30mil.
Better tip for sub/mid separation. Use only one instance of serum : Make the sub direct out ! Remove fundamental of OSC A and B Like that you can avoid any phase issues. And no EQ needed ! less is more :)
If you're just using a sine wave without any harmonical enhancement, then there is not much need for a eq. Using an analyzer one can tell which area of the frequency spectrum the sub occupy. It should be 150 Hz and below.
Thanks for the tips Will, much appreciated and really useful as I’ve just been working on my bass design. Also noticed that your overall productions have improved a lot over the last year or so, sounding really clean. Keep up the good work! The arpeggios in the video sounded awesome, could you do something about arpeggio sound design?
Your videos are just great. So much to learn and it really helped me to make better music ... well at least imo. I was just wondering which serum preset you are using. I've seen that it is called "RPS PAPER BASS 2" but couldn't find it anywhere. Could you pls. give me a hint?
Awesome so always bro and thanks for everything you do. I'm saving my money up to join your program because I'd love it if you were my mentor. In the meantime thanks again for all your hard work you put into this channel. 💪
Hey Will, I just subscribed to your channel. Fantastic content here! 👌Thank you so much for your tutorials, tips and tricks. Every video helps me tremendously regarding the EDM genre I just discovered for myself. With the very best regards from Berlin, Frank
for which type of songs (genre) is that useful to play bass fast (more notes) and on which type of genre is it useful to use less notes or play bass at slow speed
I tuned off during point 4 as I have sufficient knowledge about root notes, 3rds, 5ths, 6ths and 7ths which may well work well in the bass line. I did, however, get a little lost when it comes to altering wave forms and then doing the low cut / high cut fliters and/or EQ.... Just sayin' as a newbie.
Call & Response is great! I've been trying to integrate those types of motion using Plankton Ants in a modular patch. Separating the sounds into tracks seems to work just as well!
I hit send too early! I have been mixing on some Rokit G5’s but feel like I’m improving when using headphones, especially for the low end thump. What’s your preference and how do you get that low kick so punchy?

the idea of combining a synth bass sound with a real bass sound is just great, it adds some life to a robotic sounds
Totally agree!
Dude that final bassline is crazy good, it's criminal not to finish that track!
Cheers, one day I will! 😎

FINALLY! The all-encompassing bassline tutorial I've been starving for. Now all I need is a solid drum fill tutorial and I'm set.

Thanks, and you’re welcome!
I really like your idea of 3 different "responding" bass lines, there is something to explore here
Good choice! Try it, Eric, and let me know how out goes 😎
This is a banger of a video! Nice one Will.
the LFO and pitch bend are really changing the game
No. You’re changing the game. You sexy beast
🤣
Bonus tip: when your drop is straight (playing one chord only) you can use the blues scale to spice up your bass.
Love it! Great tip 🤙

I find that if you *gasp* layer a reese bass it kinda does the pitch bend thing..... just learned that today, it's awesome
Nice! Great tip indeed 💪
Love that call and response bass thing at the end-- ima gonna do it! Thanks for all the great tips once again --

What's funny about it?
@@abrahamclark767 it's so basic
