You made me appreciate hardware samplers. Subscribed, still finding good price to get mine old retro one. Ensoniq probably of any kind. ;) I need something with ton loads of character.
you're videos are dope. I wish they were around when I got my ASR-10 haha I self taught myself but use the tools pretty much exactly as you do. dope stuff man. Hey do you remember the old ASR-10 tutorial from that guy wearing a flower shirt and looked like one of the beach boys? Its been removed there were like 12 videos?
+9planets9p What up man! Thanks! Yeah those videos are from the original Ensoniq ASR-10 VHS video manual. You can probably still get a hold of it on Ebay.
hello, can You do tutorial about what edits can do with each layers of one instrument, and how best way to track beat to daw from eps 16+ ??? grettintgs. great chanel Peace.
What's up man!!!! I'm quite certain I've done a view on it. My efforts are now all focused on the Ensoniq Beginners Manual for the future. www.thedaydreamsound.com/sampler-courses
This video was one of the first which introduced your channel to me. Big thanks. I bought eps16+ later and happy with it so much. As i noticed you use volume smoothing on ASR which is absent in Eps (or i didn't find it). How would you exchange this feature on eps? Thanx
What's up Vladimir! Glad you found my channel and congrats on you purchase! The EPS16+ does have volume smoothing it's in "CMD" => "AMP". When you scroll though you'll see it. Hope this helps, TDS www.thedaydreamsound.com
Let's say make a beat and want to save all of the volumes, levels, panning etc of each instrument. If you just save a bank and sequences and turn the machine off it won't recall the levels like you had them. I tried making song steps and using the "save song and all sequences" and that didn't save the levels. Turned the machine back on and loaded the bank and and song but all the levels were out of wack. Any ideas?
What's up Aldo! Thanks for reaching out!The Ensoinq ASR-10 Beginners Manual that I've created covers this topic extensively as well as well as many advance features of the ASR-10EPS16+/EPS classic. You can get it here. www.thedaydreamsound.com/sampler-courses
@@TheDaydreamSound Think I found it in the owner's manual "save global parameters". Turn back on and all the volumes, panning are recalled... Or, load global parameters after you turn the machine back on to recall everything.
@@TheDaydreamSound Actually, I think it's on pages 225 and 236 of the ASR-10 manual "Recording the Default Track MiX Setting" and "Recording Mixdown Volume and Mixdown Pan" and "ATRK".
+Saibot216 Filter, and accept that you will still be hearing those drums for at least a bit, but you can mask thosewith your own drums and other sounds. Sometimes it works, and the 'bleeding through' of the original drums gives character, and sometimes it doesnt.
Didn't know where to post this but my eps classic has all of a sudden become very noisy. I thought it was the cables but it's definitely the output jacks. The signal is very weak now also. Has anyone had this problem and remedied it?. I was going to start by replacing the power supply as I've heard that that could be the culprit. Thanks for any help.
:) well, thank you very much! We have a local website here with used audio gear, there I see this and that and do some research after it ,related to the device. Now I saw the ASR 10 for ca 350 Dollars. The price was higher but the guy went down with the price so I am concidering to get it. I was to fast writing this comment/question because I watched your review of the ASR10 right after it:) I dont want to steal your time with this comments. Sorry for that. Long story short: When I was 13 I got me THE CHRONIK and was around the culture every since then, but I like a lot of other genres as well.....ca 2 years ago I started with FL Studio 9 and found my self doing some "beats". Then I started liking all those blinking lights from the VST snths etc. I got me a TimbreWolf , a Tomcat and the MC303 and good headphones. No Mixer yet ,no Monitors but it will come with time. What I wanted to say with that is that I like the hardware more than software and having a sampler is not bad I think. I saw a video of yours where you did your own Kick by recording the sound of the keys on the heating plate and bumping once with your hand on it. It insired me. Thank you that I could get this off my chest ! What specifications should I ask the guy? It comes with ZIP drive ,9 discs and all sounds. Am I right that the ASR10 is not a synth at all? Also I can get a ZIP to USB or something else right? Sorry for my english here and there as I am not native speaker.
Thanks for sharing your story! Much appreciated indeed!!!!! 1.The first question I would ask is if it's in good shape. If there's anything wrong with it.... don't buy it. 2. Yes. The ASR-10 is a sampler only. 3. Zip to USB will not work with the ASR-10's file format.
Thank you very much for taking the time to answer me! I didnt checked it yet but of course I will take a closer look. I see....file format :) How do you convert it ? Anyway, I think for me as a beginner it is maybe to complicated for now and I should get an audio interface, monitors and mixer etc. I got the MPC Essentials software that came with a midi keyboard and I can sample there. Yet I am not a big sampler guy but creating own melodies I like a lot. I think on the long run I will go with the MPC 2000 but I am not in any hurry so I got time for that. I see all these devices and my eyes starts sparkling, I guess you know what I am talking about. All the best to you my man!!!
You're welcome man!!!!!!! Honestly I wouldn't worry about converting the file format. I would start by sampling into the ASR-10 and saving the files locally on the provided Zip disks of Floppies. It's just easier that way. There's a lot of things the ASR-10 can do and it's best to keep it simple at first.
@@TheDaydreamSound I was watching this on my iPhone originally. Now that I am hearing this through my sound system, it all makes sense. It sounded literally dead silent through my iPhone due to the inability of the tiny speaker to reproduce the low-end frequencies. Sorry about the confusion. My iPhone made it seem as if there was no sound resulting from when you pressed the key. My first ASR-10 is coming to me in the mail. I'll definitely be using your videos as a resource. Greatly appreciate the knowledge.
wtf dude??? Tutorial would've been better if you could've put a finished beat, riff, whatever as a result of what you attempted to produce...maybe I expect too much from these videos...so far I'm not learning much :>{
+DEFSCOTTYB Many people think my channel is a tutorial channel. Unfortunately it isn't. I simply like to make videos and people love watching them. I'm a creative being first and will never be a teacher. In saying that I do help those who ask. Feel free to ask questions anytime. If I can help you or point you in the right direction I definitely will.
Alonzo Jacobs seriously? He showed you how to make a nice snare, bass and hat sound from sampling a vinyl record. But you didn’t learn anything because he didn’t sequence the sounds for you? WTF indeed.
Hey, your ideas are great but after some time your videos get boring... Think about something to spice them up. Thanks 😀 Inspirational. Just an honest opinion.

Can we get a video of the stock sounds of the asr10?

Thanks man, surely I did find it the next second ))) Could you please point on where those envelope parameters for one shots are in EPS?
So you put the same sample on different instrument channels to get one sample like snare on 1 kick on 2 hi hat on 3 am I right
Great video!!!!!

Great video. What parameter are using for the "smooth fade out"? Just adjusting the envelope release?

Hey man. What sample rate would you recommend using to get that full ASR sound that people speak of? Thanks.
+Bewareofthewolves there are only 2 options in the ASR-10. The higher rate will give you a bigger sound. Sample at 44K
