  • HOOD DOES NOT STAY OPEN FIX ANY CAR SHOCK SUPPORT REPLACEMENT
    ► Our Website: mechaniclifesty...
►► Hood shock used in the video: amzn.to/2tkEmv9
If the hood on your car does not stay open then you most likely have a bad hood support strut / shock. We have noticed that vehicles that are about 8-10 years often will need new hood strut shocks because the hood will not stay open. It is very simple fix and they are very inexpensive. Wear eye protection because the little spring may fly away.
This procedure should work on most vehicle hood struts shocks.
We demonstrated on a BMW E90 Hood strut shock replacement.
It is recommended to replace both of them.

Very helpful video. A couple of comments. If you don't have a buddy to hold the hood up while you swap out the supports, you can prop it open. I used a piece of a 4X4 post, maybe 8 inches long and I was able to wedge it in at the back of the hood. It was very stable. The other tip has to do with the orientation of holes on the end of the supports. My replacement part was 90 degrees off in orientation, but you can rotate the attachment part with a pair of pliers.
