His argument is fairly sound tho. It makes no sense to ban Tiktok simply off ethics like some people claim when other apps literally do the same thing. However, banning Tiktok because they think it's a potential national security threat makes sense.

The reason why they want it banned is because TikTok is a chinese company which is why the US said they’d keep tiktok if they let an american company buy it. He’s kind of right about conflict being first on TikTok because people on the ground can post first but the reason this is, is that none of it is verified as real before reported on. The amount of Arma 3 clips and old videos of unrelated conflicts, wildfires, or natural disasters mislabelled as counterstrikes when WWIII was supposedly breaking out when Iran used drones was crazy. If the president used TikTok as his main source of information that day he would have authorised launching nukes.

its not about the idea of tiktok or how it is basically Vines for the new generation. Its about China having a backdoor access to US data. Like having video of a senators house via their kids or a US tech secret or Intellectual property being used in malicious ways. Tiktok can say all data is on US grounds but discounts that anyone can get access from a distance in this day in age... So not a really good argument to keep tiktok. And yess other foreign related companies should be dealt the same way but US lawmakers have tunnel vision by trend of representation. .
