- Disney Star Wars continues to push away fans with The Acolyte Episode 3, but they are not the only ones struggling. Entertainment is at a breaking point between the box office, streaming, and video games full of microtransactions.

UA-cam content creators are far more entertaining and are more likely to have legitimate back and forth conversations about differing opinions without drawing lines in the sand. The entertainment/gaming industry's lack of ability to see outside of it's own bubble will ultimately lead to it completely bottoming out.

My coworker told me “Oh, I watched the new Marvel movie on Netflix, you should watch it!” “Which one is it?” “Madame Web, it was pretty good!”
That is the target audience for Under Paris and all this other crap. Movies and shows are background noise for most people, they don’t actually care or pay attention to what is happening. Entertainment is now fully disposable, in one ear and out the other.
There are people that would watch "Mommy Jangled Her Keys In My Face 3" and think the plot was surprising and refreshing. But if they want a large audience, they have to do better. Between popcorn, tickets, drinks etc, you'll spend more on one outing to the theater for the whole family than a year's worth of streaming.

And for the record, the coworker who recommended Madame Web is about 25 years older than me, so age has nothing to do with my or anyone's enjoyment of superhero movies.

The problem with Hollywood has been obvious for decades - talented writers and effective scripts are NOT even remotely a priority. Until good writers are given a position of prominence in Hollywood the product is going to suck and to fail.
Hollyweird bullied all the talented, experienced people away. Now the studios are stuck with what remained: activists, inexperienced beginners or a combination of both.
I think we've had our fair share of remakes, reboots, sequels, prequels, and feacales for a long time forward

YES! Entertainment has ALWAYS had a tinge of agenda pushing to it. That's NOTHING new. It's NEVER been as in your face as it has the last handful of years however. Before it was "Entertainment first, and if we happen to fit an interesting narrative/agenda/real world scenario in that happens to fit with the entertaining factor, great, if not oh well".... Now it's "Agenda first... and if it happens to be entertaining, great, if not oh well."

Actually no company has to entertain us. That is something we should be able to do ourselves. But if they want to have our money , then they should respect what we are interested in. Otherqise we will not buy they products, merch, etc.

It's gotten to the point where I don't even care if it's bad or not, I just don't want to even hear the words Marvel or Star Wars ever again. It's pointless and I think even negative publicity is still good publicity to Disney, so I don't want to encourage them.
This and one other channel are the only pop culture channels I follow anymore, and it's because you do talk about other things. And there are *good* things out there, like Idea Man, that just aren't getting talked about enough. I've heard enough bad, I want more good recommendations.

I felt this while playing TLOU 2. The game makers are not out to entertain you. In fact, they actively hate the fanbase, the original heroes and the story in which the foundation was built upon.
In the end even Ellie lost her fingers. The ability to play the guitar. Effectively erasing any traces of Joel. While the real main character who was pushed down our throats got away scots free..
It changed from entertainment to propaganda. Explains a lot.

In my opinion the best and simplest sign that this show is being created by people with zero talent is the floating jedi's costume. That had to be the most terribly fake looking costume i've ever seen. It looked like a little kid's halloween costume. He just looked so strange. The reason I think this is the perfect example is because it shows from top to bottom the dumpster fire this show is. Everyone from casting, to costume design, and the higher ups who signed off on it thought that looked good enough to be in a $180 million tv show, and didn't look like it was something your kids would create before they go trick or treating. The 2nd best example would be that weird witch song that is so cringe that it's hard to watch. Not a single person was like, "guys this is going to be laughed at!"?
I highly recommend taking a look at the capcom super elections poll. Finally a gaming company willing to look at and acknowledge who plays real games and what gamers are actually looking for. capcom just literally put out a vote from their actual customers and the results are exactly what we have been saying.

I feel what you are saying about all of this...even in the video games. I haven't bought a new game in years now...because there's nothing being made that entertains me without also repulsing me at the same time. That's the same problem i'm having with movies and tv...everything has to not just include, but prominently feature things that repulse...while simultaneously not even bothering to entertain me. All these properties take it even further...to go above and beyond in order to denigrate and retroactively undo the intellectual properties that they are based on...that drew me to the product to begin with. The only thing I can find that is still entertaining is SOME of anime/manga at this point, but that is being attacked too. I recently saw that disney purchased the licensing to the bleach anime...

There's nothing inherently wrong with any genre, by itself... but this mismatch between Cost and Potential Audience (profit) is a gigantic issue
I have to admit Godzilla Minus 1 was surprisingly good on Netflix. The special effects are actually pretty good for streaming and the characters are typically dorky but I think they were trying to capture the basic theme of the old Godzilla movies. The point is they weren’t attempting to drive home the “message” with miscast characters, she-bosses, or project DEI into the writing and script. They set out to entertain and that’s what the movie does, for literally a fraction of a Hollywood production. It’s time the “anointed ones” make note of what works and what doesn’t.
At least in Deep Blue Sea,the part where Samuel L Jackson getting eaten was hilarious because the CGI sharks looked so bad! 😅

It really seems like whoevers making these doesn't realize that Star Wars used to be such a well made world full of diversity. It didn't matter what kind of character, creature, species they were, they found great ways to convey artistic depictions of the Human condition. Creative ways that can connect us all on a deeper level.
We used to have such creative ways to convey emotions. To give the audience feelings without overly explaining it. I really miss that. If you go back and watch "X-Men the animated series" It is so well crafted. The story of mutants was so universally relatable. Media back then found ways to abstractly teach me life lessons, touched on difficult situations, found intelligent ways to tell stories. Even when I watched it all grown up it really felt like the story is so well crafted and executed that anyone is able to relate to it in someway or another. It's stuff like that that we are so deeply lacking nowadays. So much so that literal kid's cartoons from the 90's told deeper and more mature stories than most media nowadays.
Blowing hundreds of millions of dollars on bad fan fiction to appeal to audiences that aren’t even watching.

We all seem to have forgotten the stories that came out last year. The Acolyte production was a disaster from day 1. We knew this, remember? They wrapped watched it and just saw how bad it was. They fired Headland. There were rumors of missing millions. The plot and characters make no sense. It was cobbled together from random shots.
So they put out rumors that it is so much worse & hope for hate watch. Or tried to make it more profound sounding than it was. They focused on the ESG stuff. But this doesn’t ruin Star Wars, it just is a really bad dull stupid show.
Just bad. Nothing to do with race or seuality or diversity or representation. It’s just poorly written and acted for the most part. You can’t set up something and then claim it’s a mystery because the payoff didn’t make any sense. Stoopid! Confusion is not mystery.

The Stranger Things Expanded Universe is gonna continue getting Netflix money. Even after the final season, they are planning some animated and anime spin offs telling new anthology stories under the Stranger Things banner. Plus the Duffer Brothers are also making some original stuff such as The Boroughs, The Talisman, and their live action adaptation of Death Note which hopefully is better than that Netflix movie from a couple years ago. The Duffers obviously have talent and love certain properties like Stephen King’s The Talisman and the anime Death Note.
I don’t think they care about money anymore. Otherwise why would they continue to make this slop?

UA-cam creators will be the next to fail. Not because you are not good at what you do, but because Hollywood will not be changing any time soon. So this kind of content becomes repetitive. There's only so many "Hollywood is still fucking up" videos one can find interesting.
Do you know of any channel that makes videos only to say Hollywood sucks? genuine question. Most of the ones I see provide updates on so many movies or shows or games including what the Director or the actors said etc etc that it’s not boring.
UA-cam viewers have been able to make their voices heard and therefore to make a difference because of such channels eg with fan outrage against ROP (what we all saw from the promotional materials onward) and Indiana Jones 5 (what Overlord DVD said he heard from an inside source re the ending 2 yrs before release. Director denied it but the ending did end up being changed). The UA-camrs provide the info and the viewers help to amplify those concerns.
It’s also happening right now with what I think they’re calling gamergate 2.0.
So these UA-cam channels are providing a valuable service. Just my opinion. 🙏

I know I've abandoned my fair share of streamers that go the shill route. I still have bitter memories of trusting specific streamers about thor 4...that was a nightmare.

Not sure I agree, the cost of a UA-cam video is negligible compared to a movie. Because there is less cost, the cost of changing course is negligible.
@@NorthstarLNC 😬 Sorry to hear that. Some channels start out strong, and eventually turn. I discovered that with some of the respected Tolkien lore channels that decided to support ROP. They wouldn’t respond to politely worded questions about what the books say and how ROP decided to interpret it eg. The character of Galadriel. Their comments sections were full of people who said they loved the show and were so glad that this channel wasn’t mindlessly “hating” ROP.

Is this just piling on? I mean, sure EVERYONE is shitting on Disney Star Wars, JJ Abrams' Star Trek (Alex Kirtzman), Weird-ass Dr. Who, BUT where is their outrage over House of the Dragon? Clearly the problems with the not-hobbits in Rings of Power, exist in this show too. I mean where did the not-hobbits go so that they don't appear at all in the Hobbit or LOTRs (books and films)? The bleks that have been DEIed into Game of Thrones do not show up a 100 years later in GOT. Just as the lesbians (much less their controlling some weird not-Force, don't show up 100 years later in Phantom Menace. Not even a mention. At least in Futurama they tried to eliminate references to Star Trek and explained the absence by relating a history of when Nerds took over and created a Star Trek cult. So, if you are going to accept the bleks in Dragons, then shut up about DEI elsewhere. Thinking about it, I wonder if the reason no one is complaining is simply because the show is a hit, and whining about it won't affect it at all.
