When I was a kid, my grandma bought me fake cards that had a picture of a kid holding a gun on the back of every card, with "Ali the hero. ATK5000 DEF5000" written on it.

I think one of my most obvious finds was a Dian Keto- The Cure Master card, one that looked almost completely legit and well-done... except for the fact that it healed my life points by 10,000.

When I was young I wanted Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Badly. So I got some free cards from a friend.
I had a few real cards but I eventually found out they were fake. No joke.
The friend who got all of his cards were from either markets or dollar stores. And most of his collection was from dollar stores.
So, parents, if you're getting children Yu-Gi-Oh cards, do one of two things:
Get them a structure deck so they can learn the game and encourage them to get the same booster
Or
Persuade them, if you can, to get something else. It's no joke when I say it will chew your money like crazy.
Never get any cards from a dollar store. They will be guaranteed fakes. This kind of thing is not cheap. If you get them cards, don't be lazy. Those of us who play hardcore hate fakes with a passion.

My Ra is called "The largest wing numen dragon"
My dad has this fake card called White Dragon whit Blue eyes. And the attack is 3025 instead of 3000 and yes... they spelled 'with' wrong

That was interesting, but there were two tips I don't think would be practical for newcomers.
1) Matching rarity with foil image and booster set. Unless you are going to stand there looking it up online, that is one thing you just have to know, not something you can reason about.
2) Minor spelling mistakes are another one. If you are new to the game, you might not know if it is spelt "Goyo" or "Goyou".
I am surprised he didn't talk more about "Summons of the light". Notice that the capitalization is off as well as the location of "[Trap Card]".
Another thing worth noting is the font of the card text. Legit cards use a very distinctive "Yu-Gi-Oh" font that you can identify just by looking; fakes tend to use Times New Roman and such. But very informative video.
I saw this one fake card that actually had Ariel font.

Goyou Guardian is a difficult one to spot.
In Japanese, I bet the name of the card is Goyou (when the O constant is doubled in Japanese, it's written in English as "ou") in Japanese and the Konami translation didn't add the double constant into the English version.

Huge Divinity Soldier is a knock-off of Obelisk The Tormentor one of the Egyptian god cards which are among the strongest cards in the game.

The collector versions of the God cards cannot be used in duels anyway, so whether you have them in sleeves or not in tournaments is irrelevant, as you can't use them there in the first place. I do think there is a rule that you have to use sleeves though.

As much as fake cards are funny sometimes, Creating Fakes is a very serious matter, Slaydra.
The font for the text box weren't right on the good faked ones. Thats another way to tell the difference.
The letters were oddly small
I have 6 synchro dragons:
Black Rose Dragon
Briona, Dragon Of The Ice Barrier
Light-End Dragon
Dark-End Dragon
Stardust Dragon
Red Daemon's Dragon
And according to this video, they are all fake yet I got ALL of them from official booster packs. Except for Light-End Dragon. That came in a starter deck.

I have two cards like that. Cyber Phoenix and Elemental Hero Neos. They look like Ultimate Rare but they have Gold trims and feel rough af too but I can't fully tell if they are fake or not
if they have the same atk and same def and the same effect its probably alright to use fakes in any game
other than tournaments
my friend got a fake tachyon from a tin at toys r us, it took him a year to realize number 107 tachyon dragon was not made in common.

I actually buy fake cards on purpose, I collected binders full of them. Some of the artwork is also very different than typical yugioh cards, so I got to give them props to that.

There is something funny about summoning light fake card (Beckoning light), it is using japan's uncensored image version, if you watch closely to the fairies (angels) heads, they have their halos. Is actually ironic dont you think? The fake card is awesome because it is using The real image (ocg) and one of The few things players want to see in yugioh is: uncensored cards, but i guess USA is no let it gonna happen.
I love how he didn't mention the font differences.
my favorite fake YuGiOh cards are the ones, where on the back instead of Konami they misspell it as Komani. I believe I have a few like that still around here.
the common and easiest way to tell if a yugioh card is a fake or real is by looking their star level, the real one is faded,
I got a fake Obelisk once. It was literally a perfect copy... of the face of the card. When I looked closely at it I noticed that it was pasted over a card-destruction spell card. Luckily, I got it from a friend so I didn't lose anything because of it.
Found a boy a few years ago selling stuff and says that he have ygo cards and if we could trade. I looked the deck and only one card wasnt fake. A other time I bought in a Supermarkt a wounderback which says "includes 2 LTBs (comics books from Donald Duck & friends) & 2 Yugioh cards." Also Fake cards, than i go back to the supermarket and got my money back + the police got the wonderbacks. The producer of these were in trouble now :D
I honestly don't see how anyone can mistake the fakes as real cards unless they're just simply uneducated or inexperienced in the card game. I guess this video is just for them, then, because they're all obvious to me.
DON'T BUY FROM Wish! I bought some cards for my kids and 2 months later, when I went and took a look at them, I realized they are fake! ALL OF THEM!!! For example: NONE of the cards had the copyright on the bottom right corner

Back in the days, me and my cousins would just play with fake cards. because it's cheaper and you can get rare cards easier. besides, fake or not, you can still play them the same way with friends, just not on official tournaments. but "all biology is skeleton" and a harpy lady with atk 13000 is definitely a big no.
I despise fakes. I was dueling a classmate once, and I clearly had more powerful monsters, then he tried to summon a fake monster and play a torrenial tribute. He tried saying that the monster was real but it had no eye of anubis sticker. I told him it was a fake and walked out of the room.

I don't think they've gotten good at all at making fake cards...yeah, they look more realistic, but that just makes them all the more fake, because it's the little details that they always falter in.

for any person wondering how people can get fooled by funny mistranslations let me tell you when me and my friends were little kids we were really into yu gi oh but the only cards that were sold in our village were fake but we didn't know any better so we just kept using them well i kept telling myself i wont need English i certainly had to read what my cards did but that is besides the point now the bigger kids that were smarter than us kept fooling us for all the effects and it was awful once i came to the UK i actually learned English and realised that we were fooled so decided to get revenge i ordered a structure deck for six sams then i went to a local shop for cards and bought a few extra cards and then i made a super fast shi en deck where i could get out two shi ens in one turn so i went back to my village and got my revenge they were so salty i knew better English than them so i had to correct them a lot :) now i am bulding a burn deck:) ( the reason i was able to build such a good deck was that i had a friend in the uk who was into yu gi oh as well so he helped me with my deck)

Second one is weird, it doesn't even have the Trap icon correct
Third is the most difficult, name isn't generally well known BUT the fake one has it's name in a weird position as well as a weird edition logo.
Last one: the fake one isn't shiny, as well as having Goyou instead of Goyo for it's name.
woops, I meant top top top bottom. Yeah not really believable taking into consideration this is the internet, but my arguments for the third one can clearly be seen as arguments for top top top bottom.
Also Goyou Guardian is a matter of being more literal with Goyo's romanization. The u/h after an o in a Japanese name is just to emphasize it's supposed to be an 'oh' sound.

I found a few fakes in my collection. I got rid of all of them except one. It's fusion summon with the art being a picture of exodia from the show. It is named "darkly large Rabbi"
You forgot to mention about the font of the cards. They are all printed the same and if you see a difference it is usually fake.
If the name is fakr but everything else on the card is ok, does it mean that it is fake. I have a neo galaxy eyes photon dragon but it's not like that on my card, on my card it says "the ultra galaxy eye dragon" but everything else looks good. Please Help.
I've seen trades where a guy almost traded a complete printed out fake that split in half and looked like plastic, completely white on both sides when split like a banana, but then they gave the cards back and there where no trade but the guy still uses his fake card... (Cards where in cases before trade)
Speaking if being colored and cut wrong. my entire Link Strike starter deck was cut a little off on the left and the colors all seem a little darker than usual
not all yugioh cards have the eye of anubis. but you have to go way back.

anther way to tell is just by looking at the style of text for the cards effect or how the effect is worded

Aside from the name the fake obelisk looks like a ritual summon blue and the real obelisk looks more like a fusion purple however, if did not show them both at the same time I probably would have goofed it.
The common fakes look a bit brighter than the real one

okay so i have a Obliesk The Tormentor (non playable)so i knew the first one. The second one was so obvious! It wouldnt say sound and just looked fake. the third one, its just the name that made me think its the top. The 4th, the name on the top is spelled wrong, so it was the bottom one. So its Top, Top, Top, Bottom

How these fakes can get so wrong with translation? There is a site, a wiki, with the cards and text and everything, anyone who look there could know exactly what the card is supposed to say
From left to Right, the top 3 are real and the last bottom card is real. Only one minute into the video and I can tell
The main reason I came to this video is cuz of my red moon baby and vampire baby, one of which I was sure was fake but looking it up they are both the same card.....my head hurts

Heheh, joking aside yeah, I have a ton of fake cards that I had gotten from outdoor markets, most of them are noticeably fake but actually describe the card fine, though the descriptions might be a bit odd, but the fake cards like Obelisk and Gladiator Beasts, they're just horrid.
Mind you, that fake Goyo Guardian looks bloody legit, especially if you haven't seen one before, as Goyou Guardian sounds like an official name for a card design like that (because Romanji). At least card counterfeiters are taking more care in their copies though.
This card may be fake but a have a obelisk from the Kaiba tin and it isn't blue on the back, my friend has this also, is it supposed to be like that?
Jake Chanhan the blue on the back is only their when you have an obilisk that isn't allowed to be used in duels.
Funny thing that in japanese "goyou" is pronounced as "goyo". So they didn't really messed up on that one

I got lots of fakes, they are so good they come in packs and the common ones are so real the only thing is the eye it's always silver. They only have two rarities. I spend most of my money on them
I all was look at the hole card like coloring, font size, card type, the small square in the bottom right, card Id stuff like that.
