Wow, what a time capsule. So much has changed. There's only one stewardess, and she was more like a waiter. Also, it's interesting to see what Manhattan looked like in 1999. Great upload!
That's the way it looked the last time I was there. As a teenager in the late 90s. I was in high school 99. Haven't been back to New York since the towers fell.😢
imagine u do a one day trip to new york. u enter the plane at 6am and arrive at 10am, now u do the sightseeing and other tourist stuff till u fly back at 6pm and arrive at 10pm in paris
This wasn't possible on Air France as there was only one flight a day westbound and the next flight eastbound was the next morning. On British Airways it was possible and a way to beat jet lag. Fly west in the morning, hold business meetings, fly back and go to sleep in your own bed without suffering the time difference.
I envy people who were very lucky and fortunate to experience flying on Concorde, it was said to be the plane for rich and famous people since their tickets were very pricey
@@Nattaferg I saw an ad in a newspaper a few days ago from the late 90s giving Concorde flights from Liverpool, and the cost was surprisingly quite cheap, can't remember exactly but was under £1,000. Maybe these were charter flights not international flights. Didn't think travelling on Concorde was that expensive. 10k for sitting in a tiny seat with a window the size of your hand and a meal which wouldn't fill a cat up lol, no thanks lol.
@@Embracing01 Charters are usually done at significantly reduced ticket prices. And from time to time, the airline would sell some of the seats off dirt cheap especially if it was not a peak season flight. Like I said, I used to work in Reservations for British Airways so I speak facts. A full Frist Class ticket would be another few thousands.
@@Nattaferg Thanks for that, I'm sure you're right there. When you're talking 10k for fly on Concorde it just shows how poor most people are Most people I know have never seen 10k in their working lives.
@@Nattaferg Hi, I just came across a Concorde flight ad in a Liverpool Echo newspaper from Dec 1990 which mentions a subsonic flight cost £199 with a 1hr 40 min supersonic flight costing £499. Now I would say that was nowhere near 10 grand even in 1990.

damn i think it is badass there were supersonic aircrafts from 1980s to early 2000s too bad they dont exist anymore but i believe supersonic travel will be back or return, and salut from usa.🇺🇸
It’s surprising to realise just how recently the world ended. We were all still flying high, right up to the year 2000, then everything turned to sh*t..seems that the Y2K bug was real, it just manifested in a way that we didn’t expect.
BA R class , was much nicer - conally leather seats And full digital read out , even DTG ( distance to go) AF interiors look like a shitty old bus :/ Catering looked similar to BA however ...
the french interior was made by Andree Putman.. also an iconic designer as Conally. About the food, Alain Ducasse (3 stars in Michelin Guide) was the chief. So don't worry about the comfort in french Concorde
Couldn't disagree more. The AF interior look beat the one of the BA competition by lengths, I feel. Don't know what "shitty buses" you travel on, but the cabin, to me, is inspired by 1950's air travel brought to the supersonic age, with a little French finesse thrown in. The BA seats looked like sports car seating in comparison. I'd have chosen the AF version any day, with the superior meals thrown in as a very welcome extra.
You didn't need an tacky digital read out in the cabin on Air France Concorde, the discrete Mach meter was all that required to remind you of something very special. The Captain would give regular updates on speed, altitude, outside air temperature, and why France would never privatise such a national icon, it was part of the onboard service. Always found it amusing Nigel spent millions designing some cheap looking plastic/leather seats that will spend most of their existence as a museum exhibits.

Ahh, 1999. We still had the Concorde flying and the World Trade Center was still standing tall. Now both are gone.

When one could visit the cockpit in mid flight. What a wonderful and insane era.
Islam was not discovered yet :-)

I am in awe when I look at this. This is amazing. My dream is to fly the same way if supersonic aircraft are euspuated again.
Google Boom Overture. Should be here in 8 years time 🤞🏼. I can’t wait to fly transatlantic at supersonic speeds.

Un privilegio Paris - New York en el Concorde.
The British airways interiors were way. Nicer
At this time British Airways still had their old interior, not the sleek navy blue leatherette they like to show off in pictures
Does anyone know the local time of departure and landing? Thank you!
Departure from Paris at 11:00 am local time, landing at JFK at 8:25 am local time. Back in time !
7.30am departure from London..
Interestingly the Air France plane then stayed overnight in New York before flying back at 8am New York time the next day.
To fly on the concord meant cha ching
Was it all first class?
Yes official term: Concorde Class
The Food looks like at least Train Bleu niveau
At 2:51, female passenger is notorious NYC socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein. LOL
