THIS IS AWESOME! In the first 30 seconds, I learned enough for my eyes to pop out like an old cartoon. Like that person says there...this changes everything. Thank you
I explain this method in another tutorial we published in our website: www.frankentoon.com/toonlab/using-textures-in-affinity-designer I use both all the time, cheers!
This is awesome! I been into Affinity Designer just lately and it's already replaced Illustrator for me. I've made a purchase of your brushes pack, best 5$ I ever spent!
Hello! Liked your video a lot! Bought your brushes the same day, and really liked to use them. Looking forward to use them in my work. I would REALLY appreciate a video tutorial from you, though. Personally, I would like to see your workflow, maybe some tips about using your amazing brushset. Anyway, thank you!
Dare I say it almost looks like this can replace both Illustrator and Photoshop in one go (for graphic design work that is) - having both vector and raster tools in one program is very interesting. I always found Illustrator a bit intimidating and am much more comfortable in Photoshop, so Affinity is looking like something to try. I kind of wish that they would fully combine Designer with Photo, although I understand how that may not be for everyone. But I crave a program which can be used for all kinds of design projects (except maybe 3D) from start to finish. Cool video nonetheless!
Hi thanks for your comment! It's great that you've made that point. Indeed I have a couple of months without opening AI at all. I'm doing all my illustration work within designer now, precisely because of the ability of mixing vectors and bitmaps. Sometimes I just have an idea on the fly and I just switch to pixel persona to make a rough sketch and then I go back to Draw Persona to trace it over, it's wonderful!
old vid, i know, but maybe someone comes across this comment. there's another way to clip the layer to your shape by simply dragging it 'into' the shape's layer. basically you just create a pixel layer and child it to the shape layer. you automatically constrain to the shape and save the time of duplicating and masking the pixel-layer (which is more fiddely anyways). cheers
Why when I use my graphics tablet I can see only pointer not the preview of the brush but when I use my mouse to paint it backs to painting brush? Why?
Hi - These brushes are truly great and I can't wait to experiment with them! However, I'm trying to follow this tutorial but what brush did you use to create that "circle in a circle" outline to pop up? I tried to copy your design using what looked like the same brush, but the outline is much smaller with ragged edges and the pattern it leaves is really heavy and condensed, not light and subtle like yours. I've looked at all the other brushes and can't find a single one with that double circle outline in the pack. What brush did you use, and did you customise it?
Thanks for cool brushes and demo. Is there some special reason why you duplicate shape before pixel paint and not directly paint inside original shape?
Hi! Thanks for asking. Nope, no special reason, is just a matter of personal choice. I like to keep the texture layers in one big group, separated from the vector layers. But you can drag directly the pixel layer inside the vector shape and visually, the results will look the same :)
Thanks for answering. Yeah, I see benefit for both ways. Without duplicating it is simpler with less elements, but you have to open each layer to get access if you want to turn off pixel paint effect. With duplicated shape for pixel paint you can totally separate paintings into single group, but you have to reduplicate if you want to edit your shape for some reason. It would be cool if Affinity Designer could have pixel paint on/off toggle simply having layer or group plus generate shape duplicate with already painted pixel paint to generate separate pixel paint group. Cheers!
I just bought the pack along with affinity designer and the new 2019 MacBook Pro. I have used a desktop on 144hz monitor forever before this and the screen just feels laggy although I realize its 60hz. When you use photoshop, affinity, etc.. do you use the trackpad on the laptop with your fingers, a mouse, or? Just curious cause so far I feel like I can't get used to the Mac fully.
Hi Joe, I also have a 2019 MacBook Pro and have experienced any lag whatsoever. Maybe you should take your laptop to the Apple Store so they can have a look at it. Metal Accelerated graphics are a beast on these computers, so you shouldn't have any lag at all using any app...
This is amazing! May I make a request however? Do you think you can add grasses next and more foliage types? I would also see metal as well like pipes, street poles, etc..
EHEBrandon Thanks! Actually we´re already working on a new dedicated to nature elements. It will be part of a series covering different materials and aimed to concept artists and illustrators :)
Hi Mikaela. We'll need more information, since there could be many reasons you're unable to import the brushes into your app. Please, send us an email to contact@frankentoon.com so we can give you proper support on this issue. Thank you.
Hi, in Affinity you have the ability to "stick" any floating panel to each other. Just drag the panel below or above the one you wanna nest with and that's it :)
I wanna buy this brush set but when I try to pay with credit card it always loading the another pixel brush set. But when I click to view cart, it shows that it can pay only with PayPal. My question is, I have to use PayPal to buy this set?
Hello When scaling up a design from 2000x2000 pixels to 4000x4000 pixels,do these painted textures retain their original detail? Or do the get blurry when scaled up? Thx for your time
Of course not. As explained here, these brushes are raster-based, which means they're not up-scalable. It is better to start with a large document from the beginning (as with any raster painting) - Enrique
Hi I bought the brushes right away I couldnt help myself but I've tried installing it to affinity designer but they don't pop up in my brushes at all! Is there any way to get it to show up?
Hi. Once you've made your purchase, you'll get a download link with the brushes in a ZIP file. Yes, you can install the files in up to three devices of your own.
Hi Rafael! I always start at 17" x 11" @300 ppi. That's a pretty nice canvas size for making quite elaborate details and good enough for poster printing
i am interesting about a brush that you use in another art that you have in your store! the soft brush that you use it for the skin shadow at the Pattern Painter 2 - Affinity Designer/Photo ! can you give me info? do you have in your store? or how i can buy it? thank you in advance :)
Hi, I made that artwork about two years ago. Not quite sure which specific brush I used there, but I'm sure I used our Texturizer Pro brush pack for Affinity. Maybe... it was the brush named 'Duster'. Cheers. - Enrique
Well, I'm sorry to say that I'm stumped. I've followed all the directions to a T , been in pixel persona, duplicated the object, added the new pixel layer, moved the object in layers panel to the new pixel layerand still can't get the texture brush to stay within the object. Maybe Its because I'm using Windows instead of Mac?. Please advise. Thank for your help
you need to drag the duplicated object to the pixel layer on the right side of the picture layer (pixel layer) in order to mask it properly. kinda hard to explain it but hope it helped!
Thanks Orlando, we've been having little time to work on new videos lately, but we have many projects already planned. Thank you for your interest in our work :D

Hi there! I know my friend, I'm almost a on-man-band at the moment, working late nights to put all the content together. I hope I can have more time to build a small recording environment and edit narrated videos this same year. I appreciate your feedback!
OH...my god. This just changed EVERYTHING for me. Thank you SO much for this. I've been looking for the way to do this for over a YEAR now.
Thanks for your comment, glad I could help!
These brushes have completely changed my workflow, thank you so much!

If not, can you make a video like this for Procreate?
Great pack just got it 🙌🏼

Texturizer brush B and D is error when import to affinity...how to fix it?
+Frankentoon Video Hi. Does your pack (Texturizer Pro for AD) include any fur brushes? Thanks.
Why does it print a square inted of the brush effect?
Awesome, is there a more in depth tutorial coming to showcase this?
Thanks! is not planned yet, but you can tell me what else would you like to learn about this topic and I'll see what I can do :)

Frankentoon Video hmm alright, and what about your mouse situation? Or do you use a trackpad, etc?
I use the trackpad for non-illustration related work and a Wacom Intuos Sketch tablet when using brushes.

Hi, in Affinity you have the ability to "stick" any floating panel to each other. Just drag the panel below or above the one you wanna nest with and that's it :)
Love the content! Please make more tutorials!!!!!
Are they compatible with affinity designer for iPad?
Vale Hi, yes! 100% :)

@@FrankentoonVideo Is there a promo code? If there is I want to use it? Where can I get a code?

I like this video.
a little question, is it possible to get this texture brush in vector mode?
Hi Thank! No, I'm sorry these only are available as raster brushes for Pixel Persona.
This is good stuff keep them coming ;-)
Gracias
De nada 😊
When your finished, is that still a vector image or a raster?
David Lee A mix of both. Vector shapes and raster textures.
@@FrankentoonVideo so resizing will be limited. Wish you could keep the detail and stay as a vector...
David Lee that’s technically impossible when using raster graphics in any application.

Hi, Jeffrey! What do you mean by malicious code?
what's this art style called if I may ask?
Hi! Thanks for asking, I really don't know, it is a mixture of several styles that have influenced me directly over the years :)
where to get this brush
Hi, from this link: frankentoonstudio.com/product/texturizer-pro-affinity/
Awesome tutorial and pack...although i got them for free with the new Affinity update
What is the best size to start painting with the brushes?
Hi Rafael! I always start at 17" x 11" @300 ppi. That's a pretty nice canvas size for making quite elaborate details and good enough for poster printing
Hi, Thanks for the tutorial Frankentoon! quick question, can i use the same way and steps in AI?
AI doesnt have pixel persona or something equivalent to that. Either you can use bitmap textures in AI or you need to use PS for texture
and there are such brushes for Photoshop?
Hi, Thanks for asking! This exact same pack? nope, but I'm sure there should be other similar brushes for Photoshop out there :)
Hallo Frankentoon. I can use "TexturizerPro" with Affinity Designer in windows?
yes its free for owners of affinity designer pc
what resolution do you paint with or how big is your document?
Thanks for asking, I always use 300 dpi documents when using bitmap brushes :)
