Probably the best walk thru of a tune. Especially the end when Chris reminds everyone that peaks numbers are not everything unless you're on the quarter mile. Solid pull all the way through the power band
It was nice meeting you last week. Thank you for the guidance about staging my FB 88 or aiming for the M8. Well, I am closing on a deal M8 stage IV 131. Once here, the new ride will make the first stop at your shop for tuning up, and recommendations. Keep riding!
I live in small Northern California town, no Dyno tuners around and even the ones close enough to get to are scared to tune anything with a liscence plate on it. I wish we had someone like Chris around here. I mean I've done the best I can to learn the WinPV software and I do have target tune with powervision but I know there's still so much I don't know and that would make my motor run healthier with a REAL tune. Thanks for the vids!
Soc the screaming eagle tuner has timing set for 91 octane, power vision probably for 93. Se tuner air /fuel isn’t even that far off besides tip in. People still wanna say, omg, your bIKe RuNs LeAn, 😂😂😂. A tune compared to se tune will fine tune everything and yes results in more power. For out the box, these se tuner are great, been running stage 2 in my 117 and I’m super happy with it.
Outstanding video and comparison of the tuners. I’m in the market for a new tuner looking at getting a power vision. Loved that nice linear power curve well done guys
Awesome video, have a '19 SGS with the SE 122"kit, and am swapping out to a cr480, 64 mm tb/intake and thr 5.5g/s injectors next week with a pv dyno tune, appreciate your guys content! Much love from Canada!
It was good meeting you at the O.C.C invitational today even with it getting flooded, goldzilla and the give away bike look a lot better in person, love watching all the content you put out
Awesome content guys showing the downfalls of the SE turner. So now the magic question you always hear buzzing around the forums. Do you think the SE tuner can tune a bike that had the Cat removed and new slipons and a decent air cleaner of course?
Most of the time I don't like dyno tuning videos, but since I now need a tuner I found this informative. I know I don't want a screaming eagle. Now to find someone around me that can do my Frankenstein Trikes Dyna conversion.
I didn’t realize how restricted the SE tuner was! I’ve got a 128” 2020 Lowrider S in Alaska, and they managed to still give 124hp 123tq, but now I’ve got a Powervision in the mail. THANKS GUYS!
Block, I'd love to see a FP3 vs dynojet video as well. I'm actually looking into switching over to a dynojet tune but I can't find a reputable shop in my area. I live 2 hours from Orlando.
Throttle response is awesome, to add one thing, gas mileage, I wondered if it would be worse or better, with SE build 40 mpg Avg, after Chris’s Tune 60 mpg avg consistently, even running it hard …. Great job guys and thanks for the science 😎🇺🇸
I think the mileage would be better as it's running properly (not lean / not rich.) But the hard part about keeping that MPG up is staying off the throttle afterwards 😂
For that throttle response, you may consider what Dynojet used to call the fast acceleration or slide speed test. This was something they used back in the carbureted days. Basically you do a 2nd gear roll on, then at the top, instead of ending the run, let off the throttle, let the RPM drop 1000rpm, then whack the throttle WOT again. At the top, let off the throttle, let the RPM drop 2000rpm, then whack the throttle WOT again, and repeat as far as you want. You can do this in any gear with an EFI bike really, and you could do it at different intervals, but it may give you a graph that lets you show the difference in throttle response...how much power the bike has on tap at the hit of the throttle at all RPM points.
I just picked up a 2020 heritage with the 107. As far as I know it only has slip-on with no tune, and I am considering tuning it because of the heat...even cruising at 60 on the highway it cooks my right leg, and I can feel allot of heat from the bike...
Man, I wish I was closer to you guys. Just picked up a stock '22 Street Glide ST 117 and it needs Stage 1 and 2 really bad. Long ride from Colorado to Florida.
Another excellent video from Blockhead Garage! Well done (again)!!! Technical question: Dynojet uses Manifold Pressure. Thundermax uses Throttle Position. Is one better than the other? My understanding is that both [Dynojet and Thundermax] do accomodate RDRS for newer Harley Touring motorcycles. Comments? Tom M., '23 RG-ST
Great video. I appreciate you explaining things so that people that aren't tuners by trade can understand. I'm doing a 468 cam this spring and would love to get my 23 R.G. down to you guys for a final tune. (I'm in Indiana)
For science wins again! So glad you guys did the comparison between the SE tune and an "aftermarket" tune on the bike as presented. Interested to know what pipe/s the SE tune was done on originally? Just for complete apples to apples. Still gives us an idea of the rideabiliity increase a custom dyno tune can do for YOUR bike just to leave nothing on the table. 👍 If it is worth all the extra cost for more cam and intake work for another 6tq is up to you.
Yep definitely a waste of money to use Screamin Eagle tunes and parts to then go aftermarket in the end!!! If your worried about the warranty save your hard earned money and just do it right when the warranty is up. An aftermarket tune alone is like a cam swap when compared to the SE tune 😂.
Big G'day Blockhead family ♥️ Hay Chris, great job demonstrating the difference for a EPA compliance tune compared to a race/off-road tune only. Living The F🤪KING Dream ❗ Safe travels 🙏♥️🐾🐾🇦🇺
Awesome video guys. You've sold me on bringing my new 23 FXLRS to your shop for tuning. However I'd like to retain my factory warranty. What do you recommend? Just looking for stage 1 performance through the end of the warranty and then further upgrades from there.
Thanks, I glad you did the comparison before the upgrades. I have been using a thunder max on several applications. And wonder how well they do compared to the dynojet. Especially in a dyna with a 120r
I never hear what a tuner does with spark timing. Why is that? Also, can’t you just change the throttle to mimic a cable to make the throttle response seem snappier?
Thanks for the highly informative video.Very clear and concise explanation of the tuning process. Chris is certainly a professor of motorcycle science!
I heard that no new PV licenses are being “created” And whatever is out there is what’s left .. Like some shop I saw now charging $800 for a PV license 😯 claiming they have a few left Sure glad I got one attached to my VIN. I’m afraid to sell my damn bike one year bc I’m afraid it’ll never be able to get her modded properly. Current ride 2019 FLHR 468 cam PV dyno tune 2-1-2 catless LOVE MY BIKE!!! one day I’ll do the 119 kit they rolled out .. Seems like the sweet spot for a stage 3 Less heat than a 124 kit But some more GO GO GO
Great video guys, what year bike was that..My ? is iam 6'4" 325 lbs..iam thinking about buying a heritage classic my self..i would like that same kind of engine parts upgrade to the bike i buy..or should i buy ROAD GLIDE instead to do the same kind of engine parts upgrade you did to the heritage classic video i saw here ,or should i buy the haritage classic or a ROAD GLIDE?? what year Road Glide should i buy 2022,2023,2024.. Btw about how much $$ are you guys talking to buy those kinda engine parts upgrade and dyno the bike which one i buy..Also i live in coral springs fla about 3-4 hours away from you guys!! Also would you recommend buying from a HD DEALER up by you guys or should i buy it from my local hd dealership ALLIGATOR ALLEY..LOL..LOL..THANKS NORMAN....
Recently found this channel and love it! Have passed it on to so many friends, and family. I am a tech and former shop owner myself and I have to say you guys are top of the line and I enjoy the content. I was wondering if you can and would be able to dynotune a 2016 Victory Cross Country with a PC5 on it? Thanks again for such great videos, and keep it up.
About to trade my 21 Sportster S 1250 in on a 24 LRS. I was thinking of doing the Sawicki exhaust with a SE tune. This makes my decision easy. No way that's healthy to run an engine like that. Void that warranty and look for a secondary market warranty is a must.
Love this stuff! My question would be..... will this have an effect on the longevity and reliability of the motorcycle over time? I would love to see and hear about one of these bikes coming back after a few years to see how it's doing.
The tune definitely has an effect on longevity and reliability. If you're running a bad tune, you'll have side effects from overheating to carbon build up on the pistons. A great example of a bike that we've been running on a good tune for years is Goldzilla (my 2020 Low Rider S.) We recently opened it up and got it all on video, which should be out soon, but if you want to stay up to date on that build, you can find the playlist here: ua-cam.com/play/PLjqVnhD6vHnyhIRoplvVE-u-dj8zqEzro.html
Really appreciate you guys taking the time to post these videos, lot's of work to share with us! Question; I have a 2017 Ultra 114 that I have removed the cat, added 4.5 Tab slip ons with the medium baffles, and have put a bigger intake filter on it. Would it be worth it to have the bike tuned? I would really like to get a better throttle response and bring the heat down some more but without adding all the extras like cam and all that, would a tune be worth the cost? Thanks guys!! Shared this on Twitter!
I’m torn between dynojet and thunder max. Nobody knows how to tune the thunder max in my area and that’s the only reason why. All the other shops praise the power vision
@BlockheadMoto This may have been covered but i can't recall, what is the target afr Chris is shooting for on a tune? Are you shooting for stoichiometric or a little richer than that? Also, what kind of tune will generally help an engine live longer? Peak power and torque isn't necessarily going to lead to longevity of a motor from what i have come to understand.
Love all the videos on this channel. I’m hoping I can get a definitive answer to a question. I have a 2021 FLHT that has slip ons, a/c,and a PV4 with a fuel moto tune. Fuel moto says nothing can be done to eliminate that. You guys have played with all the tuners so I’m asking for your opinion. Thanks.
Probably the best walk thru of a tune. Especially the end when Chris reminds everyone that peaks numbers are not everything unless you're on the quarter mile. Solid pull all the way through the power band
What
Actually dyno numbers mean almost nothing on the dragstrip
Doing that comparison to the SE tune was a great call. Lots of people out there don't realize how restricted their bikes are with that tuner.
It was nice meeting you last week. Thank you for the guidance about staging my FB 88 or aiming for the M8. Well, I am closing on a deal M8 stage IV 131. Once here, the new ride will make the first stop at your shop for tuning up, and recommendations. Keep riding!
This is best yet from Chris, exceptional work & detailed tuning
Chris is one smart dude. I love this channel. You guys rock!!!!

Awesome ‼️ Very educational for me. I understood this video more than the other I have seen. Now I know why you tune a bike.
Glad the video was insightful!
Awesome video, have a '19 SGS with the SE 122"kit, and am swapping out to a cr480, 64 mm tb/intake and thr 5.5g/s injectors next week with a pv dyno tune, appreciate your guys content! Much love from Canada!

Ill be up in the 907 in a week
Can’t wait to be back for a minute!
I just bought a 2018 street glide special and after seeing your results. I’m definitely getting dynojet
Great video and quite informative on the tuning. When I get my next bike I’ll definitely be bringing it there for work and tune.
Sounds great! Thanks for watching Torch!
Nice the most clearest explanation I’ve ever heard. Now I know something lol unlike the other videos.
The Spitfire patch is awesome. I bet not many Harley guys know what that patch is. Awesome channel!
Please do a video on throttle bodies different brands and sizes on the same bike
AWESOME VIDEO! Thank you as it taught me alot being new to HD and trying to decide if and what I may do with mine.
That the noce thing about the star 30/30 cam is the torque throughout the rpms. Great video guys!
As a former Woods cam guy, the Star 30/30 is a beast.
@@carlbruhn1772 What are you now?
Block, I'd love to see a FP3 vs dynojet video as well. I'm actually looking into switching over to a dynojet tune but I can't find a reputable shop in my area. I live 2 hours from Orlando.
Love the patch. I was very fond of spitfire wheels in the 90's.
I really enjoy these videos.. I'm an old Shovel and Evo guy. I do want to learn more about the newer bikrs.
Sick! Thanks for watching Jerry 👍

Thanks Jeff! It’s interesting how your fuel mileage can actually increase with a better tune and way more power
Great breakdown on tuning. I would love to see more like these but in a 96 cubic inch. I'm cruising a 2009 street glide.
Yea wish I knew all the content was gonna be on the mil 8 before I bought my 08 dyna LR 😂
Always a pleasure watching Chris work his voodoo :D

That was a great video! Great information and great information. Thanks for sharing this! It was very interesting.
Would like to see that auto tune on the screamin eagle see if that cleans anything up. Just to show it. It's just interesting. Great video
I remember watching ur FP3 install video blockhead and bought one that night, love it.
You guys are awesome - great job on a stage 3
Love these episodes my 131 bagger needs a real tune and so does the wife’s 20 sport glide and some cam

Great breakdown on the tuning … Nice job fellas 💯👊🏼
I had my bike dynotune and I feel more bog around 60 mph but the cam range is 1500-5000 a torque cam, I think it ran better before the add on
Great video. Getting a lot of ideas 👍🏻🤗
Hey man we love these videos keep em coming

great job explaining the process
Very informative! I appreciate what you guys do and how you do it!
And here we have another video of these guys doing everything in there power to get me to jump on the bike and bring it to them tomorrow.
That was excellent that you did it with the dynojet tune vs the screaming eagle tune. Goes to show how much the screaming eagle tune is a rip off
Thanks guys, very insightful!
I really wish I could find someone like you near me
Good information keep it up.
I’m torn between dynojet and thunder max. Nobody knows how to tune the thunder max in my area and that’s the only reason why. All the other shops praise the power vision

thanks for this - i learned so much!

Love all the videos on this channel. I’m hoping I can get a definitive answer to a question. I have a 2021 FLHT that has slip ons, a/c,and a PV4 with a fuel moto tune. “Mov😅” should be moving.
What up Chris!! Love the patch. BTW how does the dynojet tune affect the warranty?
Like how you keep it real
another great video its all about the torque
Thanks for the great info.
Great information. Appreciate it.
